Excuse me there's something in my eye

After having sped my way through the last nearly 7 full seasons,I was not expecting to be so moved by this episode. Wow!

This was so well written and was genuinely moving.

Great Series

I am 2 series in and just love this show.

I would say that this is (so far at least) on par with another series that I love, Grimm.

Tom Ellis as Lucifer is just brilliant!

The Last of Us: Part II (2020 Video Game)

Don't understand the bad reviews on this.
23 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ok. So I haven't yet finished this game so can't comment on it fully. Just my thoughts so far.

I loved the first one. And have probably played and completed every year since it first came out.

The acting in this is top notch. Funny and touching in places. Taunt and breathtaking in others. Graphics are, again, amazing. And an improvement on the first one.

I know why everyone is giving it low scores and I understand why. What we have here is a game that is trying to give us real life. Not everyone hero deserves a heroes end. And I for one like that. Much like a lot of the deaths in The Walking Dead. They hurt because they aren't fair. Much like in life. Death is not fair.

This is still a masterpiece. Not as good as part 1, but very damn close.

Engage.
8 February 2020
I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this series so far. I was devastated when TNG ended and I loved all the following films.

And do you know what? Think I might have teared up when he said 'engage'.

Love it. Just love it.

Very strong opening first episode
24 January 2020
From the moment this series was first announced I knew I'd enjoy it.

I didn't realise that I'd be quite so emotional watching the first episode though.

Everything about this first episode was just brilliant. Can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings.

Different. But enjoyably so.
16 December 2019
This is a solid 6 for me. It's an interesting concept which is not easy to pull off. And this is ultimately where it falls down. It's not a horror, comedy or musical but it tries to be. Not as smart as Shaun of the Dead.

The comparison with Shaun of the Dead does it no favours though. Shaun of the Dead is a masterpiece. This is not.

I enjoyed this though. It's entertaining. Could have been gorier though.

As damn near a perfect series as you could get
23 November 2019
I have just finished watching this season and I have to say I am a bit of an emotional mess.

What started as a ghost story became so much more than that. It becomes a story about love and loss, and growing up and forgiveness.

The acting from every single person, is faultless. The directing, music, cinematography, everything again is faultless. Episode 6 is particular is amazing. I actually watched it a second time straight after it finished.

There are scary moments, creepy moments and wonderful, beautiful moments. As a father myself, even moments that brought a tear to my eye.

Wow! Just wow! Watch this series. You will not be disappointed.

The Haunting of Hill House: Two Storms (2018)

This episode is a blooming masterpiece.

Oh my goodness, this episode is incredible. One other reviewer described this as an almost dance and it really is.

Everything is just so tight. The acting is spot on by both the adults and kids and there are some genuinely amazing one shot takes.

I am so impressed with this series. It's so clever. So well written. Brilliantly acted as well

A decent stab at the Superhero genre
23 August 2017
This film only cost $5 million to make so with that in mind I would say it's a pretty decent go at the Superhero film.

Special effects are (in places) very good but also (in others) slightly poor. Not terrible but you will notice it.

The plot feels a little rushed in places and I think you could add 30 mins without detriment to the film.

Acting is what you'd expect for this type of film. There are a lot of pose clichés in this film but it always stays the right side of being silly.

Overall, I would give this a solid 6.5 out of 10 (rounded up to 7 given I can't give half marks).

It does leave itself open to a sequel which will probably have a bigger budget so the next one could be quite special.

Good Start
9 August 2017
I agree with some of the other reviews here.

There's obviously something wrong here but it's only ever suggested. The music and some of the camera work add to general uneasy feeling that something is not right with Jessica Biel's character, but as you'd expect for a first episode, there are a lot of questions raised and very little answered.

The acting here is solid from all parties.

Looks promising for the series ahead.

Not What I Was Expecting
18 July 2017
I feel compelled to write this review after reading some of the others posted here.

There are a lot of people that were expecting one film, but ended up seeing something completely different.

The trailer is the main problem here, it sells the film as monster film. Indeed the films title 'It Comes At Night' certainly implies that there is an 'It' that comes. Rather, the 'It' should be better understood as doubt and fear as, for most of at least, night time is when you have the time to dwell on things said during the day.

I really enjoyed this film. Everything about this film gave me a real sense of paranoia towards the characters. I really wasn't sure what was going to happen. The acting from all was superb, and the use of sound was, at some times, really frightening.

Don't go to see this film though if you are expecting an out and out monster movie as you will be very disappointed. But if you want to see a well acted film that draws you in, keeps you hooked and stays with you after you have walked out, go to watch this.

What the hell did I just watch?????
12 June 2017
Oh my god! This is either a work of genius on the part of the director (seeing what he could put his actors through) or the work of a lunatic! He has made some truly amazing films in the past (Audition and 13 Assassins immediately spring to mind) and if you haven't seen these then you must.

I know that with a Mikke movie, you are going to get a little weirdness but this was off the charts.

I would put this next to 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' as a film you need to watch.

So bad, it's good.

But if you watch this and understand completely what it's about, could you let me know.

Great Series
12 June 2017
I love this show!!!!! The story lines are great and the acting is too.

If you like your horror you will probably enjoy the first few seasons more but in all honesty, once you are 'in' you'll enjoy even the comedy ones (which are equally good).

I have not yet seen any of season 12, but if it's anywhere near as good as any of the others I won't be disappointed. The best season by far (in my opinion) is season 3 and the best cliffhanger being at the end of season 1.

Treat yourself and watch this, you won't be disappointed.

The Avengers (2012)

Best superhero movie ever?
29 April 2012
I'm not sure what everyone else thought about this film. I was worried, really worried. It just seemed that the studio was rushing it through.

I watched it as soon as it came out, before I had even read any reviews and I have to say that so far, it's in my top 5 films of the year, easily.

Joss Whedon has done a fantastic job. Each Avenger is given a good amount of time on screen with Iron Man having the lions share. The dialogue is snappy and all the actors do a great job with the script. Mark Ruffalo does a superb turn as Dr Banner as does Tom Hiddlestone as Loki (who clearly likes being the bad guy). In fact there is not one thing I could say is wrong with this film.

There are a few good laughs in this as well, 2 of the best come from the Hulk. I wont spoil it for you but one of them I actually laughed out loud on (and I very rarely laugh out loud in the cinema).

Overall, this is a fantastic film. One that you could watch even if you only had a small understanding of the Marvel universe. If like me though you are a Marvel fan and read the comics, you will enjoy all the subtle references in the film as well as all the action.

Go see it. You wont regret it.
