The Dark Tower (2017)
If you accept the over the top premise, you will enjoy
It was probably like watching a better, tighter version of a youtube summary of eight books worth of story - though, I only read about half of the very first book.
I'm guess it's the case because I know the first book ends with gunslinger (Alba's character) finally catching up with the man in black (McConaughey's character).
I was surprised how none of the things if the first few minutes didn't remind me of things that I read first book.
I enjoyed it as if it was a Spielberg film, in a sense that it's about an adventure of a young person in a fantastical world that's connected to ours.
I'd recommend it as a great family movie much like the Goonies, Young Sherlock Holmes, or Hook.
Love Hard (2021)
X-mas romcom with Jimmy O. Yang as the lead guy.
Totally predictable story. But then, there's Jimmy O. Yang, an Asian average Joe. I think he is the entire twist of this movie and, boy, he delivers. He has elevated his acting game and I'd love to see more dramatic roles from him.
Anyways, this flick was totally enjoyable!
The Suicide Squad (2021)
This the kind of movie that makes you think...
What is the point of this movie? What's the point of having all these characters? Why? I like Margot Robbie, but why is Harley Quinn needed in this story? And most important of all, why am I taking time to write about this waste of time?
Loyiso Gola: Unlearning (2021)
More informative than funny - overall, worth the time.
The guy seemed to struggle to out his act together. But his point of view was so unique to the point that it's informative. So, I'd say you try.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Rise of Skywalker = Fall of Skywalker series.
More of a fantasy movie than an scifi movie if you asked me. The master villain here remineded me of Voldemort. Thanos seems like a way more realistic villain compared to this one.
Overall, it was fun to follow, but there have been too many of such nonsense movies and the world could have done very well without this one.
Christopher Robin (2018)
Doesn't make sense and it not supposed to.
I had no knowledge of the original story of Winnie the Pooh, though I was very familiar with the image of those dolls. At first, I was very confused about how to make sense of the story, but gradually opened up to the non-sensical nature of it, after which point, the whole story started to make sense. I think it was supposed to be like that. Childlike imagination and wondering does not have to make sense, even in Hollywood terms.
Brüno (2009)
Tastes like a man's sexual organ (or whatever acceptable word there is for that)
Disgust overwhelms the virtues of this movie.
I'm a male, and I never sucked any man's sexual organ before, but this movie kind of forced me to imagine what it would be like to do that. I don't appreciate the makers for that.
When I think about the movie there are some really good sarcasms bursting out here and there which I appreciated while viewing, but things that stick like trauma are those penises, the profanely performed male kissings, and the imaginary oral sex that Bruno performs at the psychic's.
I was really uncomfortable during those scenes. Call me a homophobe. I guess I am one, which is not the way I thought of myself until I saw this movie.
