Kites (I) (2010)
Not the Best....but not that worse
21 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw the promos of Kites,I had mixed expectations from it

The good part was that it had Hrithik (not a fan of his but he is talented and I could say he is trustworthy aka Aamir Khan)

And the Bad part were the promos itself which did not excite me to eagerly wait for the movie.

Anyways I went with low expectations & caught it on the first day itself & I was right about the bad part. The movie has nothing new to offer.Nothing Exciting.

J(Hrithik) & Natasha(Barbara) want money the quicker way.So unwillingly J falls for Gina, the daughter of a rich Vegas casino owner Bob and Natasha for the Bob's son Tony.Bob & co are dangerous people with guns and you do not want to rub them the wrong way(!!) J and Natasha fall in Love and elope, running from Tony who is on their trail and so on and so forth.

There are minor flaws in the movie which can be overlooked because there is One Big Major flaw- The Chemistry between the lead Characters

The main foundation of the movie is that J is madly, deeply in love with Natasha and vice-verse but sadly that is not seen on the screen. You cannot feel the so-called intense love between the characters.

Again the movie is painstakingly slow in the first half and goes haywire in the second. Anurag Basu fails from keeping the momentum going throughout the movie and the story wanders aimlessly

Hrithik and Barbara both have good screen presence and are good actors but they are completely wasted in the movie. The funny scenes, though few,do bring a smile on your face.

Kites is supposed to be a romantic thriller but there is neither the right dose of romance nor thrill.

It does not open itself fully (At last found the right feeling)

Kites is a kind of movie you hope should do good since it has a good cast, budget, locations but unfortunately it doesn't The only thing that keep's you hooked are Hrithik/Barbara and to some extent the locations.

Not the Best but better than most Bollywood movies. Better than blockbusters like Housefull,Welcome,Singh is King,Wanted,Ghajini,MNIK but not as good as 3Idiots

Decent movie....
15 December 2009
Well.....here is my short review:

The 1st half : Interesting ,very well directed with witty one liners and fun to watch

The 2nd half : Dragged a bit.

The Climax :I think the writer must have thought "I've spent a lot of my time and energy on this movie, now I'm tired, so lets wrap it up as quickly as possible."

The cast :excellent performance by the actor who played 'Girish Reddy' and 'Nitin Rathore'. Ranbir Kapoor has improved a lot since his last movies...but still room for improvement.

Overall a decent escapist movie.
