The Idea of You (2024)
Disappointiing
The actual story was fine..... - the execution was woeful!
Really poor casting, I can't think of one character that either suited/ or was able to convincingly play their role - not one!
Really poor - even cringy - performances - it was like watching one of those awful daytime hallmark movies.
I love Anne Hathaway - adore her - but she either was not suitable for the role or just couldn't pull it off!
Shame! It could have been so good - dealing with so many social issues!
And why must the reviews be at least 600 words. My ego is not that big that I would believe people want to hear so much from me!
Equinox (2020)
STOP DEMANDING EVERTHING BE LIKE DARK
Regarding the comments. Why are we demanding every story teller imitate DARK!
This series has its own genre. If you respect the Genre and stop demanding everything be DARK you might enjoy it. It is not even trying to be Dark.
Take the DARK 'glasses' off and you may start to enjoy the view of other story tellers.
This is a fictitious tale bringing the old folklore story of Ostara (or Easter as we in the english spaeking world call her) to life. Clever story telling. great acting.
Some pretty meesed up scenes - but I fast forwarded through them.
I thought the ending was good but very patriarchal - disapointing when the series presented so many strong women! - maybe in season 2 they kill him haha!
What/If (2019)
SUCH POTENTIAL BUT FALLS FLAT
This was a great concept - the broad scope of the story really good!
But Renee Zelwegger is woeful as the Machiavellian, Her performance so contrived - almost like a mach' from a disney children's film.
The lead girl playing 'Lisa' is what keeps you watching - she is amazing and can even deliver cheesy lines in a way that they are palitable - if not totally appetising!
All round most of the players and the script make this a little too cheesy, too soap opera and too contrived for my liking. It had great potential but falls flat.
A brilliant performer in the main Machiavellian role may have saved this!
