Halloween Ends (2022)
Halloween Resurrection is no longer last place...
Spoiler alert... This was beyond terrible. People always talk about how bad Halloween Resurrection is, at least Michael Myers is in Resurrection. This was the Friday the 13th Part 5 of the Halloween franchise. And Laurie can just take him out with a few stabs? Yet in the previous movies (2018 & H Kills) he was shot multiple times, stabbed with a pitchfork, ran over, left in a house set on fire, beat to death and shot by the whole town and he still got back up ... but Laurie and a kitchen knife were no match for Michael. This movie is complete garbage. The few kills shown were in the trailer (of course) and 90% of them weren't even Michael. What a strange opening, we should feel sorry for the babysitter that turns murderer? Michael lives in the sewer? And goes after his mask that just happens to be at Laurie's house... he doesn't even know who she is. No one has ever said "this is that girl from 40 yrs ago" they just assume he is aware.
American Horror Stories: Drive In (2021)
Are you afraid of the dark but even more terrible...
This was just BAD... terrible writing, plot, characters. The motive explaining went on for 5 minutes too long. Where were the police?! People were screaming and running, someone would of got off a 911 call, also every dead body probably had a cell phone on them but ok. It really felt like a bad episode of ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK but there was blood and cussing this time. This episode makes me question what the rest of this season might hold... I really didn't expect Rated R Goosebumps. Lol.
Sasquatch (2021)
Murder Mountain Rip Off... TERRIBLE!
It's like they watched Murder Mountain on Netflix and said: Let's do our own weed farm documentary but we can't make it an obvious ripoff. Let's try to solve a murder that only a crackhead witnessed... there are no bodies, evidence, police reports, or even names of the dead (BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENED). We will say the crackhead said he thought Bigfoot did it, but we won't say he's on meth until the last episode, so then we can will do 2 episodes on weed then say "oh he was a crackhead, I don't believe big foot did it" THE END... I am mind blown that someone green lit this. It's like saying The Loch Ness monster murdered two people 40 years ago, I don't know their names, know where it happened, but it did... oh wait, I'm a crackhead I guess it didn't. I literally signed up for Hulu to watch this, good thing the first month was free.
Last Ferry (2019)
Tries Too Hard, Leaves You Annoyed
A movie that tries to go on a rollercoaster of 100 different emotions and themes but ends up giving you 0. The movie takes place in a time frame of just 48 hrs on Fire Island, yet somehow one single stranger runs into every type of character possible- a murderer, a thief, a new lover, some annoying new friends whose jokes fall flat, and bad writing. Who gets drugged/robbed (alone on an island) and then proceeds to get drunk and party the next day with strangers?? Also the way the murderer acts, like really?! You killed someone you actually care for but you're willing to let a stranger go on a promise he won't tell... OK. Then the END, that was it?! ARE YOU KIDDING... a drama/thriller with no fight/chase scene at the end or even a climax. You think the movie is finally about to kick in, you're like "1 down, 1 to go!! Run!" *CREDITS*.. "oh, that's the end?... but what about? And what happened to? Did they ever find the? But did the main guy...?" DID THEY RUN OUT OF MONEY??? This movie is missing like 5-10 more minutes. Its like if the SCREAM movies ended BEFORE the final fight with Ghostface just being like "I'm tired" and Neve Campbell being like "yea, me too. see ya!" All that being said- the camera work was nice and the acting was good for what the script gave them to work with.
AJ and the Queen (2020)
Get to Episode 3 before you start judging...
Yes, the first episode is kinda boring and slow... but once you get to episode 3 you'll be hooked. It's a cute adventure, kinda like Pee-wee's Big Adventure meets a drag queen and a kid comedy. It's heartwarming and charming. RuPaul Drag Race Stars cameo throughout the season too, which makes for a fun "omg there's Katya!" and so on. I gave it a 10 star because people are going to be rude and give it a one star just because it's LGBTQ... It's more of a 6 in total, give it time to get going. You can tell this project meant a lot to Ru which makes it all the more charming.
The Circle (2020)
Big Brother meets Catfish/Tinder
If you love Big Brother or any reality tv show really, you'll love this! It's so much fun to watch. It's Big Brother but the cast is separated, never seeing each other, only texting on a dating style app which is on their tv, is the best way to explain it... you get to see only one photo of them to start... are they who they say they are or are they a catfish? I feel more connected with this cast than any other tv show, some of the catfish will even make you cry bc they don't think they're good enough to be themselves... but they definitely are.
The Grudge (2019)
Multiple Lame Horror Stories in One
This is not a movie about one family, it has about six different storylines going at the same time... It's very confusing, very slow, and very boring... There are a few jump scares but it's not worth the wait or watch time. It's very repetitive and obvious they're dragging out a scene to scare you, it rarely works... sometimes even laughable. Save your money. When will Hollywood start doing slasher movies again all these ghost, zombie, torture, and/or supernatural movies are just boring and have been done to death. Bring back the SCREAM style whodunnit.
6 Underground (2019)
Literally a Headache to Watch...
I love action movies, but this was garbage. The camera work and editing try way too hard to be an action movie... 30 camera angles in 5 seconds with flashing lights leaves you with a massive headache in the first 5-10 minutes. Everyone in the room watching it, literally had to look away it was so intense and dizzy causing. The "comedy" and over the top unbelievable action feels like an uneducated teenager wrote and directed it or like a bunch of people in a writing room just kept trying to top each other by adding more and more stunts. It's bad... really bad. I guess my dad would like it, but that doesn't say much.
Ghostbusters (2016)
Actual Review from Someone Who Actually Saw the Movie
I'm an 80s baby, I grew up with the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 was one of my favorite movies growing up. I usually HATE remakes- from Physco to Halloween to Nightmare on Elm St, remakes usually suck! That being said, I always give them a chance to shine. If you're worried that this remake is going to ruin the original, don't! ... After see this movie, it is not a remake- it's more of a re-visioning or sequel to the originals- it's as much of a remake as Vacation was a sequel/remake, to it's original. Nothing in this movie is from the script of the original, it's it's own story, it's own version, it's own movie... Its original, besides the obvious likeness that 4 people become "Ghostbusters", it's all new. The movie even makes fun of itself, by adding little Easter eggs of the original. Comparing Ghostbusters 2016 to the original Ghostbusters as a "remake" is like comparing Insidious as the remake to original Poltergeist. Give the movie a chance, I promise you'll laugh. I would say this movie is a 7 out of 10 but since some people obviously gave it 1 star without seeing it, I'm going to give it 10 stars.
