Angel Has Fallen (2019)
Much MUCH better than London has Fallen!
Strangely enough, these movies really stuck with me over the years! I remember seeing Olympus has Fallen six years ago and considering it be "The Air Force One on the ground" movie!
Obviously mindless fun but fun nevertheless.
With London has Fallen they took a direction that almost every anti terrorist movie takes. Far from original plot, pretty bad one liners and some of the characters seemed like rookies compared to their smarter appearance in Olympus.
But this movie was just fine. Given how this was written, it could've passed as a whole new movie instead of a third part of the trilogy.
Mike Banning seemed like an invincible Rambo in the last two movies, in this movie they give his character the depth you don't see in the other two movies, physical trouble, mental trouble, relationship struggle, etc. The man is hurting and far from as effective as he used to be.
Morgan Freeman brings along his wisdom, just like in the first two movies. Nick Nolte delivers a good (and comic) performance as Mike's dad.
Not all of the plot, however, makes this movie okay. Some of it was obviously sped up to keep the pace going, leaving a few holes. Also some of it was very predictable. It is very easy to sniff out who the traitors are that set Mike Banning up, hardly making this a who did it? Early arguments in the movie let you know instantly that karma will be knocking on the door later on in the movie. Therefore a bit predictable.
That being said. The movie is far more original then London has Fallen. The acting is just fine, most of the characters don't look like complete idiots, the action sequences are not extremely over the top but still exciting.
Maybe not best of the three, but in a way definitely the most original of the three.
A decent popcorn action flick.
Non-Stop (2014)
Non-Stop AWESOME!!!
I've always been a big fan of Liam Neesson. After the first Taken came out, he became the kind of actor I would even almost cheer for. His action roles are very enjoyable. He has a kind of anti hero flair, but at the same time he'll go all Steven Seagal on the bad guys.
So much for the man in charge, this movie is another fine example of how I see Liam in character. His role as air marshal is comparable with his role in Taken. He has been through a lot in his life and he's trying to live through it all, whilst being forced to repel enemies.
The way this movie has been put together, one word: brilliant!!! The way they introduce characters on board of the flight is excellent. You keep guessing who the unseen terrorist(s) are. Your choices for this flight (no pun intended) are a Muslim doctor, a racist NYPD officer, the arrogant businessman, the annoying German, the paranoid Julliane Moore who sits next to Liam on board, the crew, etc. Everyone on board could have a potential motive to do what the bad guy(s) do on board of this flight. The way they let you keep guessing is just great.
To back up the element of "who's doing it", the movie is filled with great action sequences and enough tense moments. The fight in the lavatory is brilliant, Jason Bourne would probably have trouble doing this one, kudos for executing this sequence in a brilliant way.
Not to spoil anymore about this great thriller, just watch it. Great setting, great action, enough suspense en good characters. This is probably the best airplane thriller I've ever seen.
The Crazies (2010)
A solid remake!!!
Sure, we've had our fair share of remakes the last few years. Horrormovies such as Friday the 13th, My Bloody Valentine and Halloween have all met their modern version. As watchable as they all may be, I couldn't help but notice the amount of graphic violence, nudity and profanity in these remakes. Don't get me wrong, I'm don't mind these elements at all, but they should be used in a fitting way.
The Crazies is a fine example of reaching a new generation without having to win the audience over with big boobs, tough guy talk en splattering brains. Sure, there is still enough gore in this movie, but it is the intensity and suspense that do it in this movie. Despite an easy going story building, this movie hits off immediately with the "baseballgame scene". Right after that, you know that something is terribly wrong in Ogden Marsh and that it's just silence before the storm.
I'm a big fan of quarantine situations (in movies), like in Outbreak. The government is willing to use all means necessary to stop a virus from spreading. That in combination with the civilians who go on a rampage. Cought in the middle are a few healthy people who will do everything to survive. Timothy Oliphant, Radha Mitchell and Danielle Panabaker do a good job in this movie in portraying your everyday individual who doesn't understand was has happened and is just trying to live the normal life.
So: good enough acting, some nice gore, excellent setting (boring town in the middle of nowhere) and best of all, enough attention to detail and story building. A solid horror movie remake for those who want to see something else then the dime a dozen slashers.
Particularly fun if you live in a rural area with a lot of farms and wooden houses ;)
Intouchables (2011)
An absolute honor to own this masterpiece!!
It's a shame I can only rate this movie ten out of ten. This has to be my number 1 movie of the last 10 years.
I have to admit, the first time watching it, was kind of lame (nonstop service KLM from Amsterdam to Calgary). I usually don't have the patience for a movie at 30000 feet, flights make me restless. However, this movie did it. I watched it without noticing the stewardess who was inquiring my lunch pick. It's a good thing you can pause movies on board nowadays.
Back home, I bought the special edition (Blu-ray, DVD, book, soundtrack, poster, production notes, etc.) and watched it again. I don't know if it was the difference in altitude, seat and screen; wow, what a great movie. The kind of movie that gets better and better. I must have seen it 7 times by now.
The chemistry between Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy is fantastic. In a world where people are getting more greedy, biased and impatient, these 2 people manage to bring out the best in each other, despite the different worlds they live in.
The scene where Driss shaves Philippe for his date is absolutely hilarious, along with the scene where they give Philippes wheelchair a little "boost". Well, actually, there aren't any scenes in this movie NOT worth watching. Hands down the best "dramedy" I've ever seen.
A worthy movie for everyone. Women, men and children alike.
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
I hope Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons never saw/see this movie...
I usually never rate a movie 1 out of 10, unless I've seen another shark movie whilst enjoying a few beers.
But wow, this is really an absolute disgrace. Completely unworthy to the series. But I'll be nice, I'll start off with the good aspects of this movie.... Well okay, I can only think of one. They take the fight abroad. Why it had to be Moscow, I'll never know. Moscow isn't exactly uncharted territory for Hollywood anymore. Oh well...
Now, the absolute cons of this movie. The acting is TERRIBLE!!! I have never ever seen Bruce Willis out of element as much as in this film. Armageddon was close, but this is the winner. Jai Courtney is equally terrible in this movie. But the most annoying character is the bad-guy Alik. How he chews on that carrot, "luk at mie, I'm iest-yuropean bad-guy, I gjave carrot! Luk at how tuffguy I chew on dis carrot *crunch crunch crunch*". There are few moments where I've ever considered putting an axe through my 2000 TV, that particular scene was one of them. My god what an annoying character.
The dumbest bad-guy ever!! They should apologize to Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons for making this character (or the whole movie for that matter) part of the series. Absolute ***p. Watch only of every other movie gets deleted of the face of the planet. And even then you should consider reading a book.
I'm actually pretty dumb to spend time reviewing this insult. Guess I just want to prevent others from torturing their eyes and mind :)
Have fun NOT watching this!!!
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
All your childhood fantasies in one movie!!
This movie is almost as old as I am, therefore I saw it at a very early age. As a big animation lover (from Bambi to Family Guy), this is still one of my favorite movies to date.
The first time I saw it, I looked at it from a different perspective, obviously. For me it was the detective and Toons, taking the fight to Judge Doom and his weasels. Hooray for the good guys.
A good 15 years later, I found the special edition on DVD and bought it instantly. Viewing movies from a completely different perspective, this movie is still the instant classic I remembered as a 6 year old.
Great acting by Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd + a combination of animation and real life that Space Jam could only dream of. Don't get me wrong, Space Jam is great as well.
The action sequences with Benny the cab and in the Acme factory are still legendary. The story and dialogue are great as well.
Long story short: a great comedy/action-film for all ages. For the very worried parents, the final scene between Detective Valiant and Judge Doom can be a bit intense for younger children.
Gangster Squad (2013)
A great movie for some people, a bad movie for some other people!
First of all, if people are familiar with what really happened back then, this movie might be a disappointment. That in combination with some obvious clichés make this movie a been there, done that movie.
However, the vibe of this movie is excellent. I love the 1949 setting of LA, as well as the way of living back then (the normal people, not the gangsters). The action sequences are okay, but nothing we haven't seen before. The cast is great, but I don't think they were able achieve their maximum potential in this movie. Josh Brolin, Ryan Gossling and Sean Penn are great actors, but it seems like they were really in a hurry to sell themselves to the audience, therefore ignoring the exceptional skills they showed in movies like No Country for Old Men, Driver, Half Nelson, Mystic River and Dead Man Walking.
Emma Stone, there's nothing left to say about her. This woman is breathtaking, I love her. She did okay in this movie, albeit that she didn't have a lot of screen time compared to the rest.
For the aficionados of organized crime in the late forties/early fifties of the 20th century, perhaps you might want to avoid this movie. Same goes for the people that think organized crime themed movies reached the point of saturation with the Godfather and Goodfellas, this might not be your cup of tea either.
For those looking for a movie with great actors, a light story, fun action sequences and the usual clichés, this is a perfectly fine movie.
Django Unchained (2012)
Quentin Tarantino is a genius!!
When Inglourious Basterds came out, I didn't think it would be possible for Tarantino to make an even better film. But he did it!!!
Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz steal the show. They say it's never a good idea to give the lead roles to two Academy Award winners, Django Unchained proves that theory wrong. Both actors are the ammo and this movie is a double barreled shotgun. It blows you away.
The chemistry between Waltz and Foxx is great, they create the perfect, awkward duo. They know it and so does every other character in the movie. The rest of the cast is excellent as well. Samuell L. Jackson plays the perfect 'bad guy'. If you thought his character was annoying and creepy in Lakeview Terrace, then you will love him in this movie. Leonardo Di Caprio has proved himself in a lot of artistic roles in the past, in this one he gets to be in touch with his psycho side. The dinner at his plantation in the movie is fine example of that. I read somewhere in an interview with Tarantino that the blood you see in that scene belongs to Di Caprio, but that he was so into his role that Tarantino kept filming. I applaud the result!! Kerry Washington plays a frightened but sweet wife to Django. Dr. King Schultz's response when husband and wife see each other again after a long period of separation is brilliant.
The dialog: superb, the acting: superb, the cast: excellent. Overall: a big fat A+. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the last few years.
Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002)
This is the best, terrible movie I've ever seen!!!
I'm happy to announce that I'm the proud owner of the DVD of this great masterpiece! All my movies are alphabetized, so yes it's kind of a disgrace that this movie is next to Shawshank Redemption. I'm looking for a nice blu ray version of Shawshank so that I can remove the DVD.
But of course that's not the reason I'm taking time to post this review. Back to Shark Attack 3, I'm thankful that I bought this movie once (for 2 euro's). This is the epitome of total crap, but in a very amusing way. This movie is so bad, you'll want to watch it over and over again. Crappy effects, crappy dialog, Bulgarian actors posing as Mexicans and speaking fluent American English, etc. There's not a specific flaw in this movie, it's a cavalcade of flaws that create the best waste of film I've ever seen. The one-liner that John Barrowman uses on Jenny McShane is legendary. The Megalodon is also fun to see, despite the poor CGI. Some nice nudity and plenty of gory deaths add up to the pros of this movie. Absolute crap, but the best crap there is. An instant classic!!!
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
The best animated movie I have ever seen!!
It's been a since that I have seen this movie, so the other day I popped in the blu ray. Man oh man, what a movie. It reminded me again what my favorite animated movie is.
First of all, the voice cast is great. Gerard Butler steals the show as Stoick the Vast. Jay Baruchels voice really creates the social outcast appearance that his character Hiccup has in the movie.
Second: The animation. I doesn't get much better. The iris of Toothless eye is a perfect example, so much detail.
These 2 facts get backed up by a lot of humor, a good story, a great score, romance and best of all, a lot of excitement.
This movie should have been the winner for the Academy Award for best animated feature, not Toy Story 3...
The Lion King used to be my favorite animated movie, move over Simba, here's Toothless!!!
Sharknado (2013)
I really really really REALLY wanted to like it....
Absolute crap! A total waste of time. I know I could've expected crappy special effects, but holy s***, this was really terrible. I don't even know where to start, the CGI car driving through a tidal wave? No wait I got it, the action sequence of the year, Ian Ziering cutting his way through a Great White with a chainsaw. But....that very same Great White was flying through the air only moments before, swallowing some bimbo that fell out of a helicopter, and manages to land right next to Ian Ziering. I guess if they can make heat seeking missiles, they can make bad actor seeking sharks.
I wanted to, I really did, but I just can't approve of this crap. A total disappointment. I rated Olympus has Fallen a few minutes ago, I told people to have an open mind about it, that's just not possible with this movie. I give it 2 stars, because of the inevitable comedy that comes along with this kind of movie.
You want a good, terrible shark movie? Shark Attack 3 should do the trick. At least the sharks stay in the ocean and the dialog is terrible in a very funny way. Some of the special effects are not that bad either, with the emphasis on "that".
Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
It does not deserve 1 out of 10, be a little more open minded people!!!
First of all, we can all agree that this movie is unrealistic. We can be pretty sure that a C130 and F22 Raptors will never duel above Washington DC. Second of all, we can all be pretty sure that the White House changes the security codes a little more often then the 18 months that have passed between the bridge accident and the "falling". Third of all, a lot of people are complaining that Secret Service agents are shooting at the C130 with normal assault rifles and submachine guns. What would you have them do, people? Hold up signs that say "I surrender, shoot me"? Same excuse for the White House assault, Secret Service agents require to protect the president AT ALL COSTS. Despite the light machine gunfire from the street, what would you have them do??
Yes, this will probably (and hopefully) never happen in real life, yes this movie is filled with clichés and yes some of the cast is really terrible (Dylan McDermott is really terrible in this movie), but does that mean the movie automatically deserves 1 out of 10? NO!!! Keep an open mind, of course you will not witness the Acadamy Award Winner 2014 for best picture, but it's definitely better then the last 2 Die Hard films and the Expendables 2.
If you're interested in an explosive, over the top action flick, this one is worth a watch. No more, no less.
Up (2009)
Two thumbs way UP!!!!
I don't know where to start with this movie. I guess I'll just say that it is totally awesome!!! Finding Nemo was my Pixar favorite, but I think this one might be just a whole lot better!! Fun story, great animation, great characters (Duggie & Kevin) and best of all: a touch of emotion. This movie is a breakthrough. Adults were usually able to enjoy Pixar movies, this one really shows that it's trying to connect with adult audience.
Very very enjoyable. This one is going to win the academy award for best animated movie next year, for sure!!!
Keep UP the good work Pixar :)
Torque (2004)
Pretty Bad!!!!
Where do I start??? Let's start with the story. Been there done that, but it's with bikes and there are not a lot of biker movies (compared to the amount of street-racing car-movies). Therefore, the movie makers had an opportunity. Did they use it? No way!!!
The actors are terrible.
My favorite terrible actor would be Ice Cube. This guy is grumpy in all his movies but it doesn't add up to his acting skills. Hilarious to watch. His brother in this movie (Fredro Starr) is really annoying. His dumb facial expression when he is knocked off his bike by the slipstream of fords biker gang in the beginning of the movies says it all. I hate this guy, and therefore it's a plus point his character gets killed off pretty soon through the movie. Monet Mazur: Beautiful actress, really!!! But she really can't act. "looks like you did b****" Hear this quote at the end of the movie and cry. Matt Schulze is good as the villain. He was cast perfectly for this movie.
Next stop, the action. It was terrible. These sequences are so bad, you would be better off enjoying James Bond making mistakes during filming.
A Hummer that makes a bad jump and spirals through the air. It would spiral-crash back on the road or where ever, right? WRONG!!! They could of saved a part of the Porsche if physics where not miss-used in this movie. I won't even go on about the impossible climax chase between henry and ford at the end. Batman couldn't of done that stunt even if he was on steroids.
Overall, a pretty terrible movie. **** out of 10
* ---> killing junior in this movie (too bad he didn't receive a razzy) * ---> Casting Matt Schulze * ---> Trying something different other then car movies * ---> Hearing Nickleback at the end of the movie
My advice? Watch Wild Hogs :)
Rambo (2008)
After Rocky Balboa, Stallone does it again!!!
At first when I heard that this movie was going to be brought out, I was pretty cynical about it. Like for a couple of other actors, the 21st century hasn't really worked out well for Stallone. Eddie Murphy, Steven Seagal, Jean Claude Van Damme, they all had pretty terrible movies. Stallone walked the same path. I did think that D-Tox was okay, but my family was a little more critical then me, they are still making fun of that movie and it's been 8 years ago!!!Oh well.
Anyway, this movie didn't really get me enthusiastic about it. I didn't even watch it at the movies. However, I did get the DVD when it came out. I was amazed!!! It was great, it was probably even better then Parts 2 and 3. I won't deny that it's a little over the top at some points. Heads being blown apart, guts splattering everywhere, and Rambo actually cutting someone basically in half by thrusting his machete in that person en yanking the blade from side to side. I have some knowledge in the human anatomy and I just don't think that's possible, but hey, it's a movie and a fun one. See it!!!
Positive things about movie: Location, action, Stallones acting.
Negative things about movie: Some VERY annoying characters "we are here to stop the killing" Yeah blow it out your *ss buddy. "I know that you think that what you did was the right thing, but taking a life is never right" p*ss off!!! And maybe the movie could of been a little longer, 80 something minutes is a little short. Perhaps a little more story and extending the movie to the 2 hour limit.
But don't let that stop you, enjoy this movie. Congratulations Sly, along with Rocky Balboa, this is your second 21st century bulls-eye.
Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (2008)
All that for a stolen car?? Thank god they didn't hijack an airplane
The first joy ride was brilliant. Fun story, fun characters and some good tension. This movie is annoying!!! I just can't watch this for a second time. The fake heavy metal kid, the dumb girl, the basket case, all annoying. The main characters fiancé was the least annoying, but he was tied up in the cabin of the truck most of the time. Rusty Nail however, makes this movie torture. Oh my car got stolen, let's not call the police, let's go on a rampage, hooray!!!! Buddy, if a stolen car get's you that angry, thank god you didn't own a plane that they could hijack.
They should do to Rusty, what Sean Bean does to Jim Halsey in The Hitcher.
This movie only gives truck drivers a bad name since this movie only depicts them as Steve Stifler kind of characters, red necks and vicious (and annoying) killers.
Avoid it at all costs. Watch the first one and enjoy!!!
Friday the 13th (2009)
Another successful remake!!!
This is how it should be done. Instead of going on with boring sequels, do a remake of the original. I'll be honest about it, Freddy versus Jason, Jason X, Jason goes to hell, Friday the 13th Part Billion etc, it was all fun to watch, but serious, does it get original over the years? No no no!!!
I think they did an excellent job making this movie. It's also a good way of introducing people to the original series. Ever since this movie had trailers on TV, you can see the original movies for sale everywhere.
This movie does to Friday the 13th (1980) what Batman Begins did for Batman.
What's also great about this movie, is that they combine elements of the original movie and some of the earlier and better sequels. This movie has the mother of Jason and Jason instead of just the mother like the original. Also Jason has is face covered with a rag first like in part II and then finds a hockey mask to wear like in part III
The murders are nothing we have never saw before, but for a Friday The 13th movie, it's pretty good. It also has a couple of minor spoofs of the movies/murders previous to this Friday the 13th movie. In Part 7 and Jason X, Jason murders girls by smashing there sleeping bag with them inside against a tree. In this movie he gives a whole new meaning to the Jason hype sleeping bag murders. Also the famous bow and arrow are back in this movie, as well as nasty behind the door surprises. Also funny was seeing a wheelchair in Jason's lair, which reminded me of Friday the 13th part II, where mark was condemned to a wheelchair. These are just a couple of the many things that link you back to the entire series.
A good old popcorn horror-movie containing everything! Annoying characters, bimbo's, dumb actions that lead to the inevitable consequences, enough naked girls and sex scenes, fun and gory murders, a couple of good shock moments and enough American Pie jokes. Oh yeah I forget a convincing Jason!!! How can Jason be convincing, some people will probably ask. Let's just say he is not the kind of Jason that can twist heads of victims like a cap of a bottle (Friday the 13th part 6) He is more 'human'.
That's all for now, I watched it today (friday the 13th). I can only say, do the same!!!
Good horror!!
8 out of 10
Mystery, Alaska (1999)
Miracle meets American Pie
I must admit, the first time a saw a poster of this movie, I thought it would be silly and dumb. Therefore, I avoided watching it. After a couple of years it was on TV and I didn't have anything better to do at the moment, so I sat down and watched it. After seeing it, I was sold!!!! Wat a great and fun movie to watch. I spent the next 2 years looking for it on DVD. Thank god, movies are much easier to find in the US. During my internship here I finally found it.
The movie is about a small Alaskan town where hockey is the way of living. The local team consists out of a bunch of talented but crazy characters. However the team and the rest of the small town get very serious when a publicity stunt takes place and the local team gets the chance to play an exhibition game against NHL team, New York Rangers. To give the movie a more serious impact, there are also some more serious things going around some of the teammates and other residents.
A team captain who doesn't feel appreciated but the mayor. A hockey player who realizes that having sex with to many people has consequences, The wife of the mayor has a secret that her husband ultimately finds out and the friendly assistant of the mayor, who stands up to the people who make fun of his 'Lumberjack' town. The humor combined with the dramatic tint makes this movie excellent for the whole family. Fans of hockey and humor will definitely have a good time watching this.
I've learned now that a poster doesn't mean anything. I missed out on a great movie for a long time because of thinking like that. Never again!!!
9 out of 10 for this one. Fun fun movie!!!
Ghost Lake (2004)
This movie eh.....sucks
Alright, I'll be honest about it, It scared the hell out of me, Why? Because of crap like this, Hollywood is getting a bad name. How in gods name can one make something like this for an actual Hollywood release???
The school movies we used to make with a simple video-camera were even better.
The story is stupid, it's the return of the undead-movie number billion, but with shitty completion. The actors, hahahahahaha...I'm sorry, thats mean, I mean the amateurs that had roles in this movie obviously haven't been in or considered acting school before accepting parts. You know at one point I thought I saw the price label still hanging on one of the zombie masks, it looked like it was 12 dollars.
With a little editing, it could go for a comedy. In a way it is horror, I mean, it's shocking to see what kind of junk makes it to Hollywood.
Avoid at all costs, unless you're really really really drunk.
Defiance (2008)
Excellent!!! Better then Excellent!!!
As an intern from the Netherlands, I'm taking full advantage of the fact that movies are out sooner here then in the Netherlands. I've seen a lot of movies so far, this one being the last one I saw. And I must say, It was Excellent. People were clapping at the end, I'd say it's no more then logic. Edward Zwick definitely left his calling card with this one. Well I guess he already did with Blood Diamond and the Last Samurai.
The movie is about 3 Jewish brothers that flee into the Belorussian woods after their father and others in their village get brutally executed by the Nazi's. In the woods, they meet other Jews fleeing from the Nazi's. Together they start building a camp in the woods, hidden from the Nazi's, hoping that some day, they don't have to run anymore and can fight back.
For once, a WOII movie that doesn't give you the feeling that it's all about a bunch of American Rambo's that slaughter Germans left and right. This one gives an honest view of both sides. Losing faith and loved ones and the side of Jews, and the agony some traitors and Germans have by doing their horrible job for the fuhrer. Of course the Germans are the bad guys, but in this movie you can see that evil is not only on the German side.
I would also like to say that Daniel Craig is a great actor. I didn't know what to think about James Bond being in a WOII movie, but he took his role perfectly. Compliments also for Liev Schreiber and Jamie Bell.
I give this movie a 10/10, maybe I'm a little too enthusiastic about it, but I have never seen anyone applaud during/after a movie. And they were right about this one.
See it!! You won't be sorry.
Family Guy (1999)
Excellent
I'll start my comment with a question. What do the Simpsons and South Park have in common? They suck compared to Family Guy. Granted, South Park the movie and Simpsons the movie were also very funny and I'm glad to have them in my collection, but lets be serious, Family Guy is much better. For some simple reasons!!
First of all, Seth Macfarlane is a genius doing different voices. The best one is without a doubt Stewie. Also Brian and Peter are convincing. Alex Borstein is good as the loving mother Lois, Mila Kunis is great as the neurotic Meg and Seth Green is funny as the naive simpleminded Chris.
Second of all, all episodes have a lot a stupid jokes in them, but wait, that's a good thing in this case. The charm of the Family Guy series is the pointless humor. Because the sky is the limit if you make a joke out of everything, and lets be honest, Seth M. and his crew are doing a good job. Mount Rushmore is able to speak, Emperor Palpatine gives advice, Zinedine Zidane has an interesting way of wishing someone happy birthday, Adolf Hitler gives a very interesting sight of what life was in the 'Third Reich', Pawtucket Pat looks a lot like Willy Wonka, etc. These are just 0.0000001% of all the jokes and funny scenes you come across in these series.
It's a shame that this is not famous in Holland, we have some episodes on Comedy Central, but that's basically it. It's a good thing I visit the USA often and my dad travels to the US almost monthly. Therefore I was able to collect a lot of volumes so far. Thank God, because they are great.
My advice for people who are looking for a fun sitcom to follow. Follow this one and enjoy yourself. My Girlfriend and I laugh our heads off. Keep it up Seth MacFarlane!!!
Jaws (1975)
The biggest mistake was watching it when I was 6!!!!
This movie is without a doubt the best Shark movie ever. I'd say it's even the best monster movie ever. Being born 13 years after it came out, I wasn't aware of the amazing impact the movie had in the seventies. But after seeing it, I can imagine what the impact was. I remember watching it when I was 8. BIG MISTAKE!!! I was probably thinking it was some monster from a Disney movie or something. That movie scared the living ***p out of me. I'll admit that I still can't swim in water were you can't see the bottom. The price I had to pay for watching it as a kid. Oh well, I wasn't a avid fan of the ocean anyways.
But I bought the movie some years ago and as a teen I enjoyed it thoroughly. Fantastic thrilling music, great actors, great setting and off course a great director. Deep Blue Sea is an okay movie, but if you want to see a good shark movie, watch Jaws, don't think, just watch Jaws. Trash such as Shark Attack, Megalodon and all that other junk is absolutely a waste of time. And to join the discussion about sequels, Jaws 2 is okay, but don't watch the rest, it's kind of silly. Anyway, this movie...WOW!!!
9 out of 10
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
'Rottingham' will never be the same
This movie is FUNNY!!!
I remember seeing this movie for the first time when I was about 8 years old. My brother came home with it and told me I should watch along. I must say, what was funny back then is still funny now. The movie gains strength out of the nonsense humor. People who don't like this kind of humor, don't watch. People who want to have a fun night full of laughter en weird jokes with friends (or alone) will surely enjoy this.
Have you ever wanted to see someone swim from Israel to England and once arrived, see the name England written, Hollywood style, right of the beach? Or how about a bunch of men dance and sing to the CanCan? A sheriff who "pronounce can't sentence one correctly single" oh I'm sorry, I meant a sheriff who can't pronounce one single sentence correctly. That's just a couple of the million funny things in this movie.
I'd say, put your mind to sleep, invite people to come watch, make popcorn and have a good time. I know I did!!!
8 out of 10, definitely!!!
Quantum of Solace (2008)
It's good to make changes, but this.....
As an avid James Bond fan, I went to this movie yesterday with big expectations. I came out of the theater pretty disappointed. The trailer looked so promising but the movie wasn't able to impress me.
First reason: The story is LAME!!! Some freaky French guy who wants to take control of the water supply. Sounds like a typical Jean Claude Van Damme story.
Second reason: The Title Song is terrible.
Third reason: To many (weird) locations. Your mind is still at Austria, and Bond is already off to Bolivia via Italy. And speaking of Bolivia, A hotel in the middle of the desert as a location for the climax of the movie? Come on Mr. Forster, you can do better than that!!!
Fourth reason: Where is the Bond vibe? No Martini's, no famous introduction "The name's Bond, James Bond", no gadgets and not a lot of joking around.
Well, I can write 1 more page about how disappointing this movie is, but every movie has good parts in it. This one is no exception. - The action sequences are pretty good, The beginning of the movie has some wonderful action in it including a small twist in the story. - Also very nice eye candy. Olga Kurylenko was hot in Hit-man, in this movie she keeps it up. She is also good in playing mysterious characters. Gemma Arterton looks pretty cute in this movie too, too bad she doesn't have a really big role in the movie. - Judi Dench: This woman plays an excellent M. It was (and is) a shame that characters such as Q and Moneypenny didn't return in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, but luckily M is still in the movies. - Daniel Craig. No matter what people think of him, the new James Bond is excellent. Daniel matches up perfectly with Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
Story: -- Good Guy Characters: + Bad Guy Characters: - Bond Babes: ++ Locations: +- Cars (always important in JB movies): + Action sequences: + Title Song: -- Humor: -
Overall: 6.5 out of 10
Bloody Murder (2000)
A disgrace for horror movies
WOW!!! I can't remember seeing something that could be any worse then this piece of garbage. Bad acting, bad 'special' effects, bad everything. Everything was stolen from classic horror movies such as Friday the 13th, Halloween and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The name of the killer is about as pathetic as the title. Bloody murder?? I'd say funny murder. You can find more blood in a mosquito then in this movie. Save yourself agony, money and time. Avoid this movie. Besides, it would be stupid to spend money on this movie. the cost of renting the movie is probably higher then the cost of MAKING the movie!! Watch the classics that are being embarrassed by this movie.
Total crap!!
