A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
Heartwarming sequel delivers maximum nostalgia and beautiful, emotional moments for the whole family. Wonderful!
Building on the perennial classic, this heartwarming sequel delivers maximum nostalgia and joyful, emotional moments for the whole family. Beautiful!
It splendidly features the actual actors from the original reprising their iconic roles. Peter Billingsley is back as Ralph with a family all his own and a relationship-flipped perspective on Christmas. The primary GenX & Millennial audiences can totally relate. Boomers probably appreciate its wholesome storytelling and today's kids will surely have their own love of this movie eventually mature into its own nostalgia. Thus, it could echo into the future bringing smiles and happy tears for generations to come.
Stream it every year with the family. Wonderful!
Lorelei (2020)
Beautiful, heartfelt drama with compelling characters & it's boldly creative
I saw LORELEI at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in NYC and loved it! It's an inspiring story of regret and redemption as a conflicted ex-convict returns to his long lost love and her children.
The writer/director expertly demonstrates especially stylish visuals that have poetic, layered meaning & subtext. The acting performances are soulful and moving. This ain't no TRANSFORMERS film, Thank God!
> SPOILERS: Wayland exits prison and is embraced by his high school sweetheart, Dolores. She takes him in to her rambunctious and endearing family. He struggles to endure this foreign, dangerous, difficult life on the outside.
Yet she quickly abandons all of them to selfishly pursue her own dreams (for the first time in her life). He's forced to step up and try to be the responsible father the kids need and he never experienced.
This film is a beautiful ode to family and love in whatever form life gives us.
Bombshells and Dollies (2020)
Uplifting, Body-positive, Unique look at the world of modern Pinup Girl competitions
Not what you might expect. The Pin-up Girl scene and the real women featured in this documentary are not remotely like those in traditional, cliched, catty, mean-girl beauty pageants. These sympathetic women are supportive of each other and celebrate their beauty in a panoply of forms. Start watching curious and end hopeful.
That Gal... Who Was in That Thing: That Guy 2 (2015)
Brilliant, honest, heart-breaking yet inspirational documentary on Hollywood
Documentaries on movie stars can be found virtually everywhere. But this doc (as well as its predecessor "THAT GUY...") tells compelling stories about some of those great actors whose names aren't above the title. "THAT GAL..." is a brilliant, honest, heart-breaking yet inspirational look at the intrepid pros whose names may be hard to remember but whose performances are unforgettable.
You'll recognize Paget Brewster from the 2015 season of "COMMUNITY" and Roxanne Hart from the legendary sci-fi classic "HIGHLANDER". Roma Maffia was particularly memorable in "DISCLOSURE" as well as the Johnny Depp thriller "OUT OF TIME". And Jayne Atkinson has been a pillar of "HOUSE OF CARDS","CRIMINAL MINDS", as well as "24". What these and the other actors in the documentary illustrate are the often harsh but occasionally glorious realities of the acting business. This is not a puff-piece and it's not a tawdry expose. It's a refreshing peek into what it takes to make it as a professional actor -- namely: passion for the art form to motivate yourself and the grit to endure the tough times. This is a must-see for all aspiring actors as well as for those struggling actors who want to remind themselves that this business is hard for almost everyone but worth it if you can keep going.
