Spirited (2010)
Updated version of The Ghost and Mrs Muir
A modern version of the classic The Ghost and Mrs Muir. Quite a good laugh and a lesson not to let life pass you by. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Seemed like one long political rant....
I had high hopes for this film but was sadly disappointed. It just seemed like a long political rant against the oil industry and the current situation. The plot was thin and the lacking in substance. I loved the first Wonder Woman film, so this was a real let down! Not worth the price of the rental from Amazon. The only bright point was the special appearance.
Truth Seekers (2020)
Another great colaboration between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost!
My husband and I really enjoyed this series. It was fun and creepy but didn't take itself too seriously. It was such a treat to see something new from these two. I am not sure what convinced Malcom McDowell to take part in this but he steals the show! This is a great bit of x-fileish escapism.
The Grinch (2018)
A Lovely Family Movie
As a Dr Suess fan and being raised on the original TV special cartoon from the 60s I had my reservations about going to see this film. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved that while they did stray away from the original story, they didn't use it to push an agenda. They made it relatable to todays kids but kept the original theme of the the original story that Christmas isn't about the stuff you buy but about spending time with the people you love. It was also lovely that Cindy Lou Who wanted to help her mom instead of wanting loads of stuff for Christmas. I still prefer the original with Boris Karloff but this is a great film you can take your whole family to from the very young to the very old and all enjoy it!
Mapp & Lucia (2014)
Loved It!
It's too bad there aren't more programs like this instead of the mind numbing talentless wannabe cry fest shows like Brittan is talentless or yawn factor.....Great characters and witty scripts. I hope they make another series. I can understand why many don't get this as it is clever and intelligent. If you have a discerning taste in comedy then you will love it! If Borat is more your style you will be bored and miss the point all together. Steve Pemberton is very talented and he works so well in an ensemble cast full of talented actors and actresses. I would love to see more from Steve Pemberton. This reminds me of Agatha Christie and PG Woodhouse and it is a very similar to Blandings in tone and character.
