Hell Ride (2008)
Pretty Cool Biker Flick
Hmmm...so many bad negative reviews about this movie I just had to see for myself...and...I reckon it was pretty good...Well done Larry Bishop. Yeah sure it's not an Academy Award winner but it does have some pretty cool scenes in it and all in all, I thought the acting was pretty good. The story revolves around Pistolero, his gang, a rival gang the 666'ers and revenge for a murdered woman. There is action, sex, violence, humour and drama in this what I think is a well crafted film. Make sure the kids are in bed though and not watching, as it can be quite violent at times. So..if you like bikers and the rough neck antics they get up too..then check out this movie. 7/10
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008)
Excellent
I loved this film and I am so amazed that I haven't seen any advertising for it at all. In a world of Hollywood movies with plots and themes that we have seen over and over again, it is refreshing that every now and then a classic comes along to whisk you away on a journey. Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day is just one of those classics. This film was beautifully crafted from beginning to end. Amy Adams who plays Delysia Lafosse was brilliant, quirky, funny and beautiful. Frances McDormand who plays Guinevere Pettigrew was excellent and has played her part to perfection. These two actresses deserve to win an Oscar for their performances as does Bharat Nalluri for his direction. This film has it all; laughter, tears, beautiful costumes, music, set design and characterisation. Truly a must see film. Do yourself a favour and go see it or buy it, Either way you will not be disappointed. 10/10
The Weekend (2007)
Total crap
I look at the comments applauding this movie and I wonder if these people are talking about the same movie. Obviously they are planted comments. The Weekend would have to be the worst teen movie I've ever seen. Not only was the acting atrocious but the camera work, the characters, the story line and the editing were all equally pathetic. Heres a tip for future teen movie makers. Get decent actors, a decent script, a decent story and you may make half a decent film. I've never seen such rubbish as The Weekend in all my life. I hated this movie so much that I kicked myself for wasting my bandwidth with the download and after watching it I deleted it from my computer. There goes an hour and a half of my life that I will never get back. If there was a 0/10 I would give it that but I have to suffice with 1/10.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
No refunds available for all payers
Firstly let me start by saying I love Coen brother movies. Fargo was great as was O Brother, where Art Thou. But what happened here? Did the Coen brothers think that the audience would call this a piece of art because it is one of their movies? Did they honestly think that we viewers were going to be all goo goo and awash with pride for them?..HAHA..not me..Coen's what are you doing? Don't get me wrong though. This movie has some merit if you like seeing some bad ass Mexican looking dude going on a killing spree. Just who was he anyway? What did he have to do with the drugs and money? This wasn't fully explained to me in the film. Basically it goes like this: A drug deal has gone bad out in the American desert..bodies everywhere..even the poor dog cops a bullet. White guy hunter/welder Llewelyn Moss played by Josh Brolin comes across the aftermath of this bad deal and comes upon 2 million dollars in cash..He decides to take it. Bad ass Mexican looking dude Anton Chigurh played by Javier Bardem starts to hunt him to get the money back. Bad ass Mexican dude kills everyone in his path using what looks to me to be a gun concocted from a cylinder of compressed air that he carts around with him. White guy hunter/welder runs away and stays in hotels. Bad ass Mexican dude tracks him via a transmitter in the money's bag. Carson Wells played by Woody Harrelson pops into the movie. God knows why and gets killed 5 minutes later. A Sheriff, Ed Tom Bell played by Tommy Lee Jones who is about to retire is kind of on the case but he doesn't really do much except sprout philosophy, read his newspaper and drive around in his Sherrifs car. White guy hunter/welder gets killed...Off camera. White guy hunter/welders wife gets killed...Off camera. Bad ass Mexican dude has a car accident, which probably would have killed or seriously injured any normal person and walks away from it with a broken arm. The Sheriff then tells us of a dream he had. The End...like WHAT THA???? I couldn't believe it. I wanted to see a proper ending to the film not just a sudden stop like that and especially not after enduring 2hrs worth. What a disappointment. The best thing about this movie I thought was the character played by Javier Bardem. He was Baddd Asssss. I've given it 5/10 because of his part.
Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation (2008)
Not bad but also not good
I had the pleasure of viewing this movie early and I have to say I thought that it was going to be boring and wondered how could they ever improve upon the 1984 version of Bachelor Party starring Tom Hanks, which I thought was pretty good...I was right...In all honesty I thought it could have been better...Sure there were some funny moments but it just didn't seem to hit the mark with me...The acting was OK and the storyline pretty well follows the original but I think it could have been so much better...This movie I'd say is for teens and the young of heart; full of female bodies, alcohol and sex...It's just another typical run of the mill party movie that has been done over and over again. 4/10 is my vote for this one.
AVPR: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem (2007)
A fun flick
I enjoyed this film more then the first AvsP. It's a fun action flick that takes the viewer on a good ride. It's not a perfect film by any means but then again it's not supposed to be. I found it to be exciting with some good action sequences. There are a few holes in the plot but that didn't bother me at all because this film is meant to be fun and exciting which I felt it was. There are some good action scenes and some good gore scenes; everything an AvsP movie should be like. So if you like to watch movies that take you on a ride for an hour and a half to make you forget those weary work days, do yourself a favor and experience this film. See it, rent it, or buy it. Either way I'm sure you will enjoy it. Just remember that this is an AvsP movie and it's not supposed to be serious; it's meant to be fun. All in all, I think it was good film, hence the 7/10 rating. Enjoy.
