The Killing Room (2009)
Really good movie!
I have to say, for a lower budget/independent psychological horror film, this one was probably one of the better ones I've seen. It's about four people who answer an ad to do some paid research. They are sent into a room, asked to fill out a questionnaire, and then greeted by the man running the 'test.' Without going into any detail, as soon as he explains what's going on, things change and begin to spiral out of control. Very intense and fascinating to watch. Nick Cannon isn't the greatest actor, but I thought he played his part very well in this. I also thought Chloe Sevigny was fantastic in her part, as well. This one is definitely worth a go. Rent it if you have a Netflix/Blockbuster Online account.
Live Animals (2008)
Epic Failure
Just got this from Blockbuster Online(free trial). Thank God for free because this movie wouldn't be worth the money used to make it. Subpar acting, horrific lighting/sound, insanely disappointing with the gore, unable to deliver, plot holes, etc. I could continue on, but I'd run out of words. This movie would have been remotely decent had it been done by someone with real talent. The idea behind the film was intriguing, but this poor excuse at horror ruined any opportunity to make it worthwhile. The characters are so one dimensional and annoyingly stupid that you can't wait for them to die. The ending might have even been good if they'd shown the actual gore instead of a few fake blood spatters. I was highly disappointed with this and would not recommend it to even the biggest low budget horror fan.
Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians (2007)
The ending was disappointing
I read the short story first and when I heard it was going to be a Masters of Horror, I was thrilled. Masters of Horror is the greatest show ever created. The Washingtonians was very well written and stayed pretty true to the story, except for the ending. The story's ending was very much a horror ending and I was highly disappointed that they made the movie's ending so corny. Other than that, I'd recommend this movie to any horror fan or Bentley Little fan. That being said, I'd like to say that I highly enjoyed the Thomas Jefferson scene. Very creative. Very gory. Extremely entertaining. A must-see for any horror fan. And I'd also recommend buying the book with this story in it. It's called The Collection.
