The Monk and the Gun (2023)
Peaceful Takeover
Harold and Maude had been my favorite from 1990 until this very moment after watching this film. It is about a subject very close to home and far away. It is about the pain involved in becoming a modernized country and changing from old ways to supposedly better modern ways. Bhutan has been a country that I have wanted to visit since 2007, but as of yet, I haven't gone. Now this movie has everything I want from a film, subtle comedy, an engrossing, interesting plot which twists and thickens like butter-tea and believable characters throughout. This movie is more than brilliant, it's a must see for everyone on the planet Earth, especially my fellow Americans who think they have everything figured out.
Anyone But You (2023)
2024 off to a Less than Lame Start
When I saw that this movie had an 8.5 out of 10, I thought it was going to be good despite the cheesiness of the title and it's overall obviousness . I'm delighted to say that I was not disappointed in my own instincts and should never listen to ratings by others. This movie is definitely the cheesiest, obvious, white-bread, schtick, unimaginative, dullard of a pathetic attempt at a greasy romance that spoilt everything in life including and most likely not limited to environmental issues, same sex marriage and non-consumerism that I've ever seen. It downplayed all issues that I or anyone else really cares about with its obvious cheesiness. Don't watch as long as I did. You might throw up (I've got an iron stomach). This movie was most likely created start to 50 minutes in by AI. The only reason I started watching it was the lack of choices other than war monger films, etc. I wasn't going to post this, but I to warn you!😱😱😱
