Blue Bloods: The Heart of a Saturday Night (2024)
Disappointed
I had high hopes when I became aware Aidan Quinn was the main guest star. Loved him in Michael Collins and Legends of the Fall. He was excellent in both.
The character he was asked to play was poorly written, lacked depth and was a bit of a caricature. Not his finest acting performance.
I've watched the show from day one and regularly revisit my favourite episodes. This will not be one of them.
Overall it was a poor script - particularly the Danny and Syd storyline. Totally out of character from them over the years.
I'd love to be a guest at the table, as a visiting relative - however this one left a lot to be desired.
It is so disappointing to see this dip, hopefully a once off.
Liebes Kind (2023)
An interesting program
I love crime dramas, and was fortunate to come across this gem. Top class acting, particularly the young actress playing Hannah.
The one thing I did was watch it in German, with English subtitles, rather than the dubbed version. I would recommend anyone watching to do the same. It just adds to the experience.
As I said earlier the acting is top class, a great ensemble cast - all of whom were new to me.
The storyline is great and there are plenty of twists and turns along the way. We watched the first 4 episodes in one sitting - it was really addictive.
Was delighted to come across this. Highly recommended.
Blue Bloods: Past is Present (2024)
Brilliant
I've seen all of the episodes of this series and many of them multiple times. As the years go by sometimes the quality diminishes. This shows is not like this. This episode is the exact opposite.
The script , acting and directing are absolutely superb. I have watched it twice already.
It's sad to think that this is likely to be the last series, especially when the shows are as good as ever - actually better.
I really hope the network realise that this is one of the all time great series- and I've seen plenty. To repeat myself this is one of the best episodes ever. Make sure you watch it.
10/10.
Ann (2022)
Disappointed
I had really high expectations about this story, hoping the film would deal with the times, causes and aftermath. Covered none of these, in my view was most important to this shameful moment in Irish history.
If you look further , which I did after watching I was disappointed to see this barely scratched the surface of an important issue.
For someone of my generation it reminded me of a story I remembered but unsure if someone in their 30's or 30's would know the story or would understand the times. Wouldn't grab their attention.
I don't fault the acting but overall a missed opportunity by the director and producers. The story, from 40 years go deserved a better telling.
