4 Horsemen: Apocalypse (2022)
I liked it!
First I have to admit that I am a sucker for cheesy disaster movies. Second, this is not the worst acting I've seen in a movie. It is pretty bad, which just adds to the fun.
Third the plot is so ridiculous, how can you take it seriously?
Fourth the handling of the apocalypse just makes me shake my head in wonder. Not having memorized the book of revelation, I had to look up the seals - the "man of faith" refers to a couple of them, completely out of order. Seven seals list:
White horse
Red horse
Black horse
Pale horse
Souls crying out from under the altar
Earthquake, sun & moon, stars fall
Silence in heaven
But the main thing I liked was that the Christians in the movie were shown as compassionate, educated heroes instead of the loony toons we're usually portrayed as.
I thought this movie was fun to watch, but you need to approach it with low expectations. I bet the other reviewers criticize Hallmark movies for being sentimental. What did you expect?
Kansas Raiders (1950)
History Rewritten
If this film had not used the names of historical people, I would have said it was a pretty good yarn. But the portrayal of 2 of history's most despicable characters as heros ruins it for me. Jesse James was no wide eyed innocent when he joined Quantrill. He was born a psychopath - a cold blooded killer. The one accurate line in the film was when someone asks Jesse why he joined up with Quantrill and he says "to kill people". Quantrill was killed in Kentucky and Jesse James was not with him. Quantrill had been wounded, but not blinded, by a shot in the back. He was shot and killed by Captain Ed Terrill who was as bad as Quantrill and James. I must say Audie Murphy and Richard Long make the prettiest pair of outlaws I have ever seen. The real story of the James brothers and guerilla raiders in the civil war makes a much more exciting story than shown in this movie.
