Cold Mountain (2003)
Too long.
This film is a butt-numbing 2 1/2 hours long & I trekked about those mountains & in the rivers with Jude Law until I was worn out! Interesting characters along the way non-developed by the film maker (such as the old woman in the mountains, who was she, why was she there?). Anyway, Nichole looked good, then not so good, then with stringy hair, slovenly but still good looking (she just IS). Renee stole the show.
Good Boy! (2003)
Cute!
I noticed this film got a low rating, maybe these people were not dog lovers. I thought the plot, if it was a plot, about the the "alien" dog was a little thin but the dogs were wonderful, the boy was great. Sometimes it's just good to go to the movies the enjoy a sweet little no-nonsense film that's just there for pure entertainment. I was entertained.
Radio (2003)
Liked it a lot, good message for us all, no matter what age.
Cuba Gooding and Ed Harris were great in this film. There are both fine actors & you felt they really got into their parts, which is a sign a great actors. The story had a great message for all people, don't judge a person by what they look like, but what's inside and take the time to learn about that person before passing judgment.
Runaway Jury (2003)
Riveting from the get-go.
Very strong performances especially Gene Hackman! Dustin Hoffman's character was not so 'colorful' but he also was excellent in the laid-back attorney role. The movie held my attention - I had not read the book but I might now that I've seen the movie.

Secondhand Lions (2003)
Movie with heart!
Hollywood should take note: This movie got some ho-hum reviews but the people went to see it & voted it a good movie! Older guys appeal to us raised in the 50's! Robert Duvall and Michael Caine are sort of like Mattheu & Lemmon & I loved them!! Give us some more of that teaming, a guaranteed hit (or is there any such thing?)!!

Hollywood Homicide (2003)
Boring mostly, not even a good comedy!
Harrison Ford was not up to par in this movie, maybe he's just getting old and grabbing at any type of movie to appear in. I've seen some movies of his that were comic but to me, this was a bomb. All that running around doing real estate seemed to me silly.
Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)
Lots of funny material, however didn't like the "queer" dog stuff.
The dogs were really winsome, BUT as a dog owner & lover (3 dogs) I didn't appreciate the "queer" dog stuff. It would have been a cuter movie without those scenes. Reece Witherspoon portrays this "blonde" stuff to a T! Sally Field looked good, would like to see more of her in the movies!
Chicago (2002)
Fantastic!
I loved this musical, the characters, the story-line, the whole delightful movie. Let's bring musicals back to the big screen. This should prove to the powers that be in Hollywood that money can be made on musicals - it just has to be with top actors & actresses and a good plot!
Two Weeks Notice (2002)
Too, too cute for words!
Sandra & Hugh are definitely hot together. Interesting story line - sort of new to me. I've not seen a good movie about a women lawyer in a while, especially one about someone wanting to donate their services! Hugh played his general laid-back character with great appeal.
White Oleander (2002)
Interesting movie, great characters.
Although I only give this movie a 6, this movie kept my attention all the way. The murder I didn't understand, was it an accident? Who knows. Her daughter was just a typical teen-ager seeking affection. Why do the one person in who was giving the affection - that part baffled me. Michelle Pheiffer was never more beautiful.
Abandon (2002)
Puzzling.
I had a hard time following this movie & made the mistake of taking my granddaughters ages 12 and 13 1/2. They found is totally over their heads as I don't think they had ever seen a "flash-back" movie before. Anyway, it was good for them to see that part & know movies can be made like that. Otherwise I thought the movie was rather a bore.
Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Cute movie - loved it!
This movie had something for everyone. I loved Candice Bergen and the entire cast was great! My grandchildren are in love with the main guy (she gets in the end), can't remember his name but what a HUNK! Reese Witherspoon's a great looker & good actress. I can't remember a show that I've seen recently that I liked any better than this one.
Memento (2000)
Weird movie.
This was a weird movie. I rented it & watched it at home with my husband, maybe something is lost on the smaller screen. I had not read a thing about the movie & it took us a while to figure out what was going on & then I had trouble following it - I didn't understand the ending. Good acting however.
Murder by Numbers (2002)
Scary stuff.
My main complaint is I couldn't hear parts of this movie and I have good hearing - was it just me or did others miss some parts of conversations? I thought the teen-age boy actors were terrific - Sandra Bullock was great as usual.
