Halo (2022)
Not what you hoped for
More disappointing than bad. Some decent entertainment. Way more drama and talking than the action I was hoping for. It held some interesting factors which gave me reason to watch, but not enough to start or care about season 2.
Changing up the storyline when they could've gone in other directions(starting with Reach would've been great). Guaranteed more money involved if you actually pulled in Halo fans. Instead you went against them? Very odd.
Better character writing. Chief's character should've been done like they did Mando. Like I said before just too much drama for the Spartans. It felt weird at times.
Only one or two good battle scenes. Playing the video game, this was one of the fun parts of the game! How did they not include more?
It's a Wonderful Knife (2023)
Great start, but unfortunately a disappointing 2nd half
Loved Freaky and Happy Death Day! Not so much this...A good start but a terrible finish. It had its fun moments, but then it didn't.
I'll start with the good.
- The acting. Justin Long does a great job with his character, making him a creepy, awesome bad guy. The main girl, Jane Widdop was an absolute joy to watch. A charismatic and lovely on screen presence. The rest of the cast did theirs.
- The horror. The kills and the angel bad guy were awesome. The direction and overall motive were also good and fun to watch.
- The atmosphere and scenes were nicely done.
The mediocre.
- The It's a wonderful life aspect. Some parts were good, some not so good. I know it's a horror movie, but I didn't get much emotion from it.
The bad.
- The direction and writing. This went from good, to completely losing itself, to the point it ruined the ending. There were things that happened that made absolutely zero sense, and then there were things that were messy that didn't need to be there at all.
- The ending. It was a waste of time. Justin Long's character faded out until the ending, where it was so anticlimactic and basic. I still can't believe they ended it like that.
- The love aspect. I'm all for a good love angle with whatever preference and whatnot, but this movie doesn't do kindly to straight people, and promotes cheating. It felt weird in a bad way, that it was forced into the script to make a point.
Outer Banks (2020)
Season 1 & 2 yes; season 3 is trash
Wow, I was on a real high for this show. The first two seasons were something I've really missed a lot from a tv show. But then season 3 came along and took that all away.
It turned into the same trash that tv shows constantly and consistently spew out. The writers, at least for me ruined the show. By the 6th episode season 3, I was done. I wasn't enjoying it anymore, and said that's it. That point came when the main girl cheated. Typical.
Why not have character growth for once?
Despite the adversity, have the character stand above it. But no, go with the same nonsense in every tv show love drama. It was pointless.
I read somewhere the actress was ok with the decisions.
Blah.
At least for me, this show was a real letdown and I will not be going back.
Ahsoka (2023)
That's it for me. No more Star Wars.
Not much spoilers, but I'll mark it.
Strike one: Princess Leia floating through space and living in the one movie.
Strike two: the power of the light sabers as useful as a butter knife
Strike three: Space whales
Is this even Star Wars anymore?
I don't care about what's canon and whatnot, this is just asinine.
The first two episode were a struggle despite a good cast. The writing was terrible. The special effects were good, which was saving me to keep on watching. It actually started to improve and was happy to see Anakin again. BUT once the nonsense with space whales started I was done. Were the writers and directors on drugs? I turned it right off and refusing to watch another episode.
I'll still watch Mando, and maybe a movie that's at least looks decent and enjoyable, and doesn't make you question who gets hired for these projects anymore.
FUBAR (2023)
Terrible writing.
I was drawn in to what I was hoping for an awesome action tv show with a great cast, instead turned into a soap opera trying to make cheating acceptable. Like typical terrible writing, the show seems to be about compromising the integrity of a good character(the daughter Monica Barbaro). Why not use strength and growth for once? Outer Banks season 3 failed at this as well. I'm good with the comedy, but the rest seems so basic an uninventive.
I do like the actors and the main story line, but that's where it ends for me, even if season 2 improves from season 1. Jay Baruchel's character is ruined by the direction of the show, and the outlook of the male role he plays will most likely become a Simp in the season(s) to come. Monica Barbaro's character will show that cheaters can be heroes despite not having any character growth. The other main side characters will remain just that. The same bad guy will keep coming back. Arnold's character will slowly retire over the seasons. Does that sum it up writers?
