Freelance (2023)
I love John Cena but Freelance was boring as heck!
I am a huge WWE fan. I am a huge John Cena fan. I feel I need to say that so you know where I come from. I am a fan and have loved Cena the wrestler as well as Cena the actor. Cena is trying as actor to be more than one dimensional because of his physique. I think he should have been the next big action star but he wants to have an open mind and do films of every genre possible. I respect that. And he has done a good job in some films like Vacation Friends. But man this movie Freelance is a miss.
Freelance is an absolutely boring film where nothing seems to be happening. The movie itself is 1 hour and 45 minutes. The first hour is basically just nothing happening. I actually fell asleep on this and tried to finish watching.
I don't know what this movie is suppose to be. It's not really an action film because the action really, there is none up until the final 15 minutes. So, if you're looking for action, none here. You want adventure? Not much here either? That's the issue with the film. What is it?
So, yeah, Freelance is a pretty dull movie that drags on forever before anything interesting really happens, the main characters are bland. Cena is really robotic as a serious actor, which is why I wish he would be an action star and let his physicality do the talking. Here, he's just way too robotic.
Anyway, Freelance is a pretty boring, bland, film not worth watching unless you want to see Cena's acting progression.
Heart of Stone (2023)
A 2 hour movie that should have cut 30 minutes.
Pros:
Good action, espionage, film with the beautiful Gal Gadot playing the main character of Stone.
Good action.
Cons:
It is a LONG 2 hour movie. A long movie that drags on a lot. Had they cut out 30 minutes from this film and made it a 90 minute movie, would have be awesome and my rating would be higher. But the film starts of great with action but hits a pause where it tends to go on and on forever with nothing happening until the very end.
Too much CGI. But that's the norm in action films nowadays.
Gal Gadot looks fantastic, she looks the bad ass type and plays the character well. The storyline itself is a bit
confusing and too many swerves.
Overall, Heart of Stone is decent film could have been awesome had they trimmed just 30 minutes from the film.

Hidden Strike (2023)
Decent, forgettable, action film.
Hidden Strike stars, for a first time pairing of legendary action star Jackie Chan along with rising star of Peacemaker, John Cena.
It's an odd pairing but it's strange that if Chan were younger and still in his prime, working in a buddy cop movie with John Cena would have been cool. But here in Hidden Strike, you see an older, past his prime Jackie Chan.
Now to the movie.
Hidden Strike is basically a CGI action film where you honestly think they filmed every scene behind a green screen.
The premise is odd and doesn't make a lot of sense.
But this is an action film, so you get a lot of good action although it felt like I was watching a live action animated movie.
Forgettable film, some cool scenes, the chemistry between Cena and Chan is okay. Cena is trying his best here. Jackie feels like he was on autopilot a bit.
Hidden Strike worth checking out simply for the odd pairing of Jackie Chan and John Cena together on film.
Fast X (2023)
Fun X!!!! Mamoa steals the movie.
Man, waited for this and Fast X like every other FF movie delivers. Delivers in crazy stunts, crazy action, crazy races and an overall fun movie.
This supposedly is a 2 part, series finale, send-off for the franchise but now rumored that a 3rd part, and in my heart, as much as people whine and complain about the FF movies not being about racing (they never were about racing, racing was a back story). Still, FF movies continue to make money; lots of money. When they stop making money, the studio will stop producing it. Simple as that. Which for me means this will never end and I love it.
Anyway, onto Fast X. JASON MOMOA IS THE MOVIE!!!! Mamoa steals the movie and every scene he is in as the main villain bent on revenge against Toretto for what he did to his father and their money back in Brazil many years ago. Mamoa steals each scene, he's the FF riddler or joker for this franchise and easily the best villain in the FF franchise. No one comes close.
Fast X has a big cast. A big cast. So, if you like John Cena, he's barely in this and definitely took a drop in screen time and character from F9. As well as the rest of the cast who have limited scenes.
But the the cat and mouse game between Diesel and Mamoa is the reason to watch the film.
Fast X was fun and a great beginning to what may be the trilogy.
White Men Can't Jump (2023)
Fun reboot that has a lot of heart.
I saw the movie yesterday, the trailer for this peaked my interest and having been familiar with the classic 90's version, I wanted to watch this and I did.
I am an old geezer, so, I am not familiar with the rapper Jack Harlow and the other actor in the main roles. So, obviously me being old, the movie tailored for a young crowd, I worried I wouldn't get the vibe of the movie and jokes.
But, you know what? I did get it and I loved it.
White Men Can't Jump 2023 version is a fun film with a lot of heart, likeable main characters and a good story for the the main actors that you root for each of them in the end. The basketball scenes were fun but could have used more basketball action because I was loving what was being shown, jokes were very funny and the characters were developed well.
White Men Can't Jump is a quick, fun, film with a lot of heart and does well to match up wtih the classic film it is based on. They should have put this in the theaters, it would have done well I feel.
