Night Night (2021)
It couldve been good
This was horrible through and through,
First off absolutely no mystery to the plot, which I'm assuming is someones cup of tea, sure isnt mine.
Second off, while I understand what they where going for, a shaken accident victim awoken from a coma, it was poorly acted out, instead she looked like a well informed actor trying to look clueless.
The beginning happened. That's about it. It has no further direct mention later on in the plot. Perhaps it was to paint her as a well put individual to then show off that she too, could be oblivious and/or unfocused. But it could've been woven within the story.
Unto the boyfriend, I still don't understand his end goal or even his logical place in the plot, he met her before the accident, started texting her while he still had a struggling girlfriend with children. Then after the accident, he bugged her house and gave her a fake world to live in. Out of anger by his own fault at effectively losing his main girlfriend to a new one perhaps. Well I forget he did lose other family members in the car accident, I'm assuming it was to avenge them.
And what happened to the police officer? Why did it happen?
Granted I am half asleep, one thing I can say for sure, the acting is horrible, the plot is confusing and I am very much confused.
Doe (2018)
What happened here
I am slightly confused about this movie.
I liked the sci fi part of the movie, the rehabilitation process that is. I liked the concept. I liked the mystery of the many gifted individuals. I've also liked the journey for the main character to find himself even if slightly boring, in the end, the movie was a good background distraction.
I am quite frustrated at two things. One being that the other gifted individuals and their respective gifts are rapid stepping stones for the main characters, almost making them unnecessarily complicated fluff. Then there is the ending; the reactions of the main character are illogical in light of the greater good that was demonstrated in the rehabilitation process, in all honesty I stopped watching near the end, the main character was viewed acting in a selfish manner and bringing to a stop a new era, thus leaving me with an interrogation, was the movie made against this process of rehabilitation? Was it trying sheepishly to show off a possible reaction of the rehabilitated individual? Was it showing traits that even the "best" rehabilitation could not erase? Or does it only tells a cold story of a failed plot?
Another slightly annoying thing:
The rabbits have no context and seem to be an abstract imagery of how the main character feels about his identities.
Not a clear cut movie, imagination is needed and meaning can be argued.
Honeydew (2020)
A puzzle, could be better
A film of little words, a bit of a puzzle so I will be spoiling it. What I mainly dislike and also like about this movie is that it is poorly woven togheter, its abstract, we are doing the script writers job while watching it.
Another bad point is that it stretches and jump from plot to plot without any explanations. I would remove the dreams and the couples arguments as it goes absolutely nowhere. I think the story is amazing and I had quite a fun time spinning it in my head.
Here is the spoiler:
From what I gathered the mother is delirious from spores infecting her farm and the surrounding farms. She has created a cult in which the teachings are that humans have tainted their bodies, bathed in the luxury of a well functioning body yet hurting it, taking it for granted. I gathered it came from the fact that all their cattles had died, thus leaving very little food on the table, somehow escalating to a cult in her delirious mind. With their vast territory, they attract unsuspecting people to their farms, feed them the body parts of the other victims and then cut out the light in their brains to then farm the victims for more meat. A cycle of self eating. There is also the element of a mother, who needs someone to baby and care for. As shown at the end, her biological daughter has been the main farmed human to feed other victims. In the end, our lovely couple will not escape.
I have to add that while the mother is delirious, she has not lost the ability to manipulate others.
All in all, if you want a puzzle to solve, this movie is great for you, a bit like a house in shamble advertised as a house to personalize :)
Do keep in mind that the begining of the movie has very little meaning in the end, I wouldve actually skipped the begining and started in the middle.
