The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story (1998)
Bad acting! Bad jokes! Great music but no soundtrack album... sigh.
Back in the beginning of the summer of 2003 was when I first watched this movie. Then, I used to like it and after that movie I couldn't stop thinking about it. I watched it constantly.
Okay here is the good- Raksha and Bagheera's voice acting is pretty much the best out of the other's. Akela's voice can also be considered okay but not great.
The musical score used in this movie fit so perfectly well. Like the scene with Raksha's death. The powerful music and the mourning for her loss was fantastically captured. The music in the very first cave scene where Mowgli meets the wolves for the first time was superb. The celtic-like music in the background while Bagheera talks to Mowgli about hunting techniques and staring her in the yes was totally brilliant. The upbeat, traditional-like pan flute music was awesome.
Now the bad- In 1998 there were capabilities of adding lip movements to the animals. It would've made that very beginning of the movie with all those animals gathering together a lot more sense.
The voice acting in the comical characters were flat and dull. Sher Khan's lines end up a complete mess. Revenge is a dish best served cold? A dish? Well, how does he know what a dish is anyways? And plus with Tabaqui he mentions ice cream and the rather stupid line "packing heat."
There is no soundtrack album of this movie. Why? Why?
Raksha's funeral-like scene sometimes haunts me. It just does and I don't know why.
Bottom line is this movie is downright selfish and downright stupid for not releasing the soundtrack album. But I give credit to it because of that powerful, haunting scene.
Oliver & Company (1988)
Why such a low rating like 6.3? This movie is a masterpiece!!!
I remember when I was young I watched this movie over and over again. I still have the VHS of it and I plan on grabbing it and sticking it in my VCR and watching it. The music, the characters, the city life and basically the great action and marks of love, friendship and family are there! And the great use of CGI animation on almost every vehicle in the metropolitan city. The city is faithful and the song talking about it shows you the ways of new york city and sends its message to oliver, the little orange cat and who is the main character of this wonderful movie.
What i don't get is why does the film receive an almost mediocre rating? What is wrong with the film to get such a score like that? I see nothing at all wrong with it. It is another Disney movie with something new to keep you watching and the new things i've seen are CGI and really cool music that really suits the late 80's new york. Come on, now! 10/10 and that's truth. i'd hope to see a Disney movie i like to exceed the godfather on the top 250 list. Lets say The Lion King.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)
The best ever game that out beats the previous titles...
This game is so much fun. I remember buying it on PS2 at Wal-Mart and sitting down and playing it. The first cut-scene I saw, I thought it was a bit too rushed and sudden. But the cities I traveled through were just amazing. But was really funny about these cities is I realized after a few weeks that the Gant Bridge in San Fierro was so reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Then I got curious and traveled down the roads of San Fierro and my suspicions were right. When I saw the downhill, zigzagged brick road I knew that this place was pseudo San Francisco. So it was pretty hilarious that they made three cities almost exact from their actual counterparts. Months went by and I enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny of San Andreas but then my PS2 game had suddenly failed to load. So for weeks I hadn't played San Andreas and I was sad. But then I decided to buy it again and this time on the PC. And WHOA! The PC version out beats the PS2 version 100%. The graphics were top notch and the ability to MOD the game and change things made the experience a fun ride. Overall this game is way better than the previous titles and certainly may be popular until GTA4 hits the PS3 and XBOX 360.
BTW, I did play the XBOX version of this game. I am a multi plat-former of this game so I certainly love it.
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997)
My Favorite Out of All The Rest
All right! It id official! After ten years of playing this game I finally started a new game and in four days I beat the game for the first time ever. Only three levels and one boss level challenged me really, really much. The game-play was excellent. Only problem is I am used to using the L3 pad as my directional pad it got just a little out of hand with Crash just walking occasionally and nearly running into an enemy or falling down a pit.
Crash 3 was a great sequel but a little too hard for me to beat. Although I am currently trying to beat it. But this game remains my favorite compared to others because I beat it for the first time ever and it is the only Crash game I ever beat.
I will never forget this game, ever! 10/10
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Yes, indeed!!! Great sequel to the first one...
I have enjoyed this movie ever since i first saw it, well, when i left the theaters i was shaking from freight! this movie was darker than the first and it got to me. the scary moments were powerful.
But i have a little doubts about this one and yes I watch the movie over and over again because it is still a brilliant adaptation.
First what i wish they could've done was put more screen time on for Nearly Headless Nick. The whole deathday party was left out and it would've added more unexpected magical, uh, things into the movie.
OK and secondly the camera movements in certain scenes were a bit of a disappointment. I seen that certain action scenes lagged a bit. Like in the scene where harry fights the basilisk in the chamber almost at the end of the movie. The camera kept switching multiple times.
Bu t overall the movie is brilliant, the music is brilliant and the acting was decent enough. i give an 8/10
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
great kickoff to jim carrey's career
i remember watching this movie when i was young and oh boy it feels great to finally own it on DVD! all i have to say is amazing, amazing, amazing! okay the plot wasn't its best but that wasn't what you should focus on. you should focus on the great acts of jim carrey. and yes even today i still enjoy watching it. around a year and a half ago i sat down and found an old video tape of ace ventura and the sound wasn't good but when i saw it after many years i laughed hard. this movie is a must buy for people who are big fans of comedy and have the strength to control their laughing. you wont be disappointed. if you have never in your life have ever seen ace ventura you should start now.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
A great start to a good franchise
I am a big fan of Harry Potter and when I went to see this in theaters I am pretty sure I loved it. I know I did but I never knew why I went. I went with family.
The magic, the characters, the memories. But I hardly watch because I always end up watching the later installments but I remember at a time I constantly watched this one. The plot was great and the actors did great jobs in their roles.
There is only one thing I wasn't satisfied about this movie. I wish peeves was in it. It would've been a great add on to the other amusing moments in the movie. But overall the movie is perfect and a great family movie.
