Phone Booth (2002)
Someone's aiming at me!
I watched this movie while waiting for the ticket sale for The Two Towers to begin during one cold night. I knew nothing about this picture, so it was quite a surprise that this pretty short movie had such a strong and interesting story to tell. Phone Booth reminds me of Requiem For A Dream. They both have that unique visual look. The very beginning reminded me of Unbreakable. The best thing in Phone Booth is that it actually has nothing wrong. It's perfectly done, actors look and sound realistic and the set looks as real as it could really exist somewhere there in Manhattan (and actually it does, right?). The movie gives you two plot twists in the end. Just when you thought it was over... Look again. And again. Hard to believe it's the same director as in Batman & Robin. Even harder is to believe, that Americans won't see this until March 2003 because of some strange serial killer who got caught. Go with the show and see this movie!
9/10
Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection (1990)
Amazing picture
Delta Force was really funny movie. It brought all the possible stupid elements of film-making into life. It was so funny that I haven't ever laughed as much as when I saw it for the first time. Only Bad taste has ever made me laugh louder, harder and longer. I gave it 3/10 and the points came from the comedic parts of it.
Delta Force 2 (as DFII: The Columbian Connection) isn't funny at all. This movie really has no pros. Watching explosion has never been this boring. If I want to see explosions, I watch Winter War or Windtalkers. Watching U.S. special forces in action has never been this boring. If I want to see them, I watch news or play Delta Force series. This picture deserves a pure 1/10. Could movie get any worse?
The Green Mile (1999)
The mouse!
This picture includes the best mouse scene ever! I love, I LOVE, IT, I *L*O*V*E* IT! And TGM is anyway the best prison film I've seen. Or could Midnight Express or Papillon be better...? Well anyway, this one is really good, warm, touching, well acted, and even last for a good time! Darabont, Hank & Duncan are guarantees of quality.
The Abyss (1989)
Brilliant
I've heard some people saying that the Special Edition (or Director's Cut as I would call it) doesn't add anything important to the film. I wonder have they even seen it?
No matter is it original or Spec.Ed, this film has everything. Plot and story are quite unique. Acting goes over almost any other movie (not Requiem For A Dream), the characters are interesting. Special effects by ILM, Fantasy II, XFX, Dream Quest, Stetson Visual, Steve Johnson's XFX and The Design Settlers haven't got age a day. Music composed by Alan Silvestri is IMO the best score in his career. The few action scenes ar well done. And the NTIs remind me for some grown-up E.T.s. That's what this movie likely seems to be: an R-rated underwater version of E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial. And a good one. For a long time Aliens was the best movie I'd ever seen. Not anymore.
Braindead (1992)
Bloody one!
I have to admit, this is the bloodiest film I've ever seen. NICE splatter-filled ending takes it all. But the beginning (right after main titles) is quite boring, even after all the rat monkey stuff and "I kick ass for the Lord!". Bad taste is anyway better. This one is good.
