It´s interesting how a pretty high-budget flick these days can be so without content. You have the shallow script, the bad acting, the clichees, the propmisses and so on, but where is the evil Chief of Police, where is the funny sidekick, where is the oneliners ?

It even got a bad soundtrack, some kind of nonsense rockoperatechnothing.

It got some of the greatest on-set explosions and a couple of nice fighting scenes though.

If you really, really need to see it (read Liu in a tight MC-dress), wait for your buddy to rent it and don´t chip in ..

Panic Room (2002)
Nice camerawork in a movie without surprises. Or script.

Crap. That´s my opinion about this one. The people who criticise Fincher often say that every other movie he makes is a bad one. So far it´s true. It feels like the producers say: "Hey it´s that guy who made "Fight Club", let´s give him lot´s of money and not read the script". As you probably know Foster moves in with her daughter in a new house. A big one for two people. 3 stories to be exact, and it isnt as if its a spooky dark house on top of a hill either. It´s a ordinary house. Except it´s got a Panic Room. Some bad guys break in so Meg and Sarah has to "hide themselves in the Panic Room" (you couldnt guess that one now could you). They sit in the Panic room for a little more than an hour and the bad guys try to break in. Wow. I really got scared. Mind you , there´s nothing wrong with the actors, (except for Foster who only has one facial expression and you can never hear what she´s saying), so see it if you want to see some good camera-work.

ARGH.

This is NOT a good movie . Ok Viveca Fox maybe beautiful, but that doesn´t matter when she is totally unlikeable in this role. She plays a very smug woman who thinks very high of herself and can´t believe it when 'her man' suddenly is out with another girl. I got so enormously tired of her lipsmacking, necksnapping and curving of her lips as she tried to convince herself, and me, that noone can treat her this way. I am no fan of the 'look-into-the-camera' kind of storytelling and this film got it a lot. The 'rules' are also very boring: 'no 3', 'day 2', rule four, 'sixth day'. The only really funny parts involved the characters played by Anthony Anderson (I) and Mo'Nique Imes-Jackson Last and not least: What signifies a bad comedy? When the 40-seconds of outtakes in the end is funnier than the movie itself.
