The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019)
One star short, one flaw movie
Loved the relatable story about the unique relationship between man and his/her best friend. I once saw a bumper sticker that said "Lord, help me be half the man my dog thinks I am." And another saying is I don't trust a person who says they don't like dogs. But if my dog doesn't like somebody, I don't trust that person. Dogs make this life worth living. So many of us keep going because of our dogs. This movie says everything I just said and then some. The one flaw? He bought his dog. Movies need to start taking responsibility in promoting Adopt, Don't Shop. There are so many dogs in shelters waiting for a home. I use to work at Petco and Petsmart. Customers would come in and they always brought their new puppies in. In less than a minute I could tell the backyard breeder pups. Lethargic, not able to focus. Many illnesses. People use the excuse that they want a specific breed. Whatever that is it can be found at a shelter. Time after time people who have adopted a dog from a backyard breeder end up with a dog with expensive and painful medical issues. Adopt, don't shop.
