Sahmaran (2023)
The Turkish audiovisual segment needs to improve in a number of areas
The Turkish audiovisual segment needs to improve in a number of areas
While they are quite good in historical subjects, dramas and comedies, in everything related to mythology or science fiction (for example) they need to improve a lot.
And this series is a good example of what I am talking about, it looks like a job done by beginners.
The beginning of the series is too boring and the plot doesn't flow well enough to make you decide to stay and finish it.
Clearly the producers had good material, a solid cast and crew, but they didn't know how to make the most of it.
My rating 1 out of 10.
Dünyayla Benim Aramda: Denial (2022)
Nothing changes under the Turkish moon
Turkish production companies run out of ideas and repeat the same cliché.
This story has been told
a thousand times before.
It is not an original story.
I love Turkish films and series in general, but this one is not for me.
Characters that remind me of others I've seen before, weak and outdated plot.
The visual quality is good as usual for Disney, but nothing more.
It's a series clearly aimed at an audience that consumes easy products.
After the publicity given to this series, my expectations were high and I expected a higher quality product, better structured, but for me the result is disappointing.
Zeytin Agaci (2022)
The Netflix algorithm and its jokes.
I still don't know why the Netflix algorithm included this series in my recommendations.
I gave up watching it in the second episode.
There is nothing original about the plot (there are many series on the same subject that are much better made) and the performances are flat, mediocre and bland.
I'm sorry but it's not for me.
I give it a 2.
Kaçis: Kim Oldugunu Biliyor (2022)
Do you know who I am?
Demumanisation at its most horrific.
Women caged like animals, children whose innocence is deceived by the promise of heaven.
Criminal masterminds playing the stock market.
The search for loved ones trapped in this radical organisation and Mehmet disappearing under his new identity, that of Rahman "the cook".
The non-verbal language of Mehmet/Rahman is outstanding.
Kaçis: Kurtulus Bileti (2022)
Far from salvation
If you want to survive, you must be one of them.
Our protagonist is aware that joining the extremist group is his only option for survival.
As he tries to find a solution to find his comrades, he watches in terror as one by one they are dehumanised and treated like merchandise.
The final scene of this episode is devastating.
Kaçis: Ölmekten Beter (2022)
Death is better
The story is fast-paced.
Mehmet's interesting dilemma between what he should and what he wants to do.
Zeinep is in an extreme situation.
Outstanding non-verbal language makes all the difference in this series.
Kaçis: Dönüs Yok (2022)
No way out
Good introduction to the story that leaves you wanting to find out more.
What limits are humans willing to cross in order to survive?
Good photography and music, an interesting script and good performances by the cast.
Kaçis (2022)
In memoriam
I would like to dedicate Kaçis to the memory of two Spanish war correspondents, José Couso and Julio Anguita who were killed in Iraq (2003) while doing their job reporting from the front line. Hypocritically we have become the audience of wars sitting comfortably on the sofa in our homes.
This series has touched my heart deeply.
