Hereditary (2018)

Disgusting and disappointing in soooo many ways :(

Why is this even entertainment? What does that say about us as a species???! Probly questions no one really cares about here so... whatevs it's just foul. However I am not much of a horror movie fan and admittedly I went in thinking this was a thriller, so there's that to consider.

So I guess I'll just say if you enjoy feeling insanely bored for 90% of a movie, and the rest of the time feeling totally confused, stressed, creeped out, appalled, disgusted and finally really annoyed bc the ending is so so ridiculous, well then go ahead and grab the popcorn!

Would give one star but need to give a nod to Toni Collette and her brilliance, it seems she shines no matter how bad the film.

Modern Family (2009–2020)

So relatable

The only reason I'm giving 9 and not 10 stars for this brilliant show, is because I do agree with many other reviewers who are saying that it was dragged out too long.

With shows as good as this one we often never want them to end, and neither did the cast and crew it seems after watching the farewell doco... but keeping it going for 11 seasons unfortunately does mean things start to get a bit repetitive and stale.

But in general, I think this show is one of the best comedy sitcoms I've seen in my 38 years. It's easy to watch, hilariously relatable and a nice break from all the extremely graphic blood, gore and sex and that is taking over our screens!

I love the themes of diversity and acceptance that were largely absent in the shows of my childhood, it's great to see these ideas becoming mainstream :)

All in all it's just a wonderful show, great writing, great cast. Loved it :)

The Revenant (I) (2015)

The scariest thing about this is the maturity rating!

Well, I can't even say whether the film was any good or make fluffy poignant comments on all it's Oscar winning cinematography, because I only made it 10 minutes in before I gave up... I couldn't see ANYTHING in between the rivers of blood and guts flying around from the get go.

Listen, I understand that some people love a massive portion of seriously extreme violence dished up with their viewing entertainment, and that is absolutely fine... but PLEASE PLEASE I pray to the powers that be up there in Hollywood... just rate your TV and movies appropriately and accurately, it's just become totally insane!!!! How on earth is this movie (and too many others like it) only rated MA15+?!!!! The idea of a 15 year old watching this kind of horrific violence is appalling.
