Doomsday Meteor (2023)
Armageddon ripoff, 25 years too late
This movie is so cheap they didn't even bother getting an actual general's uniform. The just pinned random badges to a blue suit. They're traveling in a space shuttle, but it looks like a makeshift room in a warehouse, with regular gravity. The "special effects" were done with the new Windows Vista operating system.
The Asylum is known for schlocky movies, but this one is even more cheaper looking than usual. Do these actually make ANY money? Other than confusing people when they're looking for the original movie.
Bruce Willis may need to sue for defamation. This is just another embarrassment.
History of the World: Part II (2023)
Compared to the original this is embarrassing garbage
I love the original movie, made.over 40 years ago, but it was much, much better than this scattershot mess.
Brooks as the announcer is great, but he obviously had little, if anything, to do with the actual skits. The humor was ham-fisted and lazy. Lincoln being too tall, complaining about the Last Supper, and grunting cave girls were just embarrassing to watch.
This looks like it was written in one long weekend, then a bunch of money was dumped on costumes and scenery. This could have been so much funnier and more clever, but it was too easy just to go for the blatant, easy laughs. The original was silly and stupid, but they were also much more clever.
Quantum Leap (2022)
This is far inferior compared to the original show
2022's Quantum Leap is similar to those CW shows that use a popular, classic property like Nancy Drew or Tom Swift, but the shows have very little to do with the source material. The original Leap had two excellent, compassionate leads, while this show uselessly wants to include the office melodrama back at home base.
The 80's shows were usually smaller stories that included a lot of humor and humanity. While this series looks and sounds just like every other lame undercover cop show out today.
Honestly, I couldn't even watch the entire first episode, it was strident, humorless and could have been the same script as any of the dozen or so other network cop dramas. Except that Ben gets his information from Addison, his hologram contact, and not an earpiece.
All in all, the Quantum Leap sequel is a poor shadow of the original show, with only the name remaining the same.
The Orville (2017)
What's Happening with this show?
Season one was a weird, silly parody of Star Trek. Season Two was a much better balance of humor and action. But season three is so serious, so full of preachy stories it's a completely different show. Season 1 was 8 stars, season 2 was 10 stars, but season 3 is 7 stars at best.
Apocalypse Rising (2018)
What the heck?
In the first few minutes you're introduced to a spacefaring race that's a mix of 1980's military and 1960's Barbarian films. Then we're inexplicably whisked to Biblical Israel where the baby Jesus and his parents are turned into bloody zombies. From there it just goes downhill.
One of the weirdest characters is the chubby, leather loincloth wearing barbarian. The only reason he's in the movie is because he's big and covered in tattoos.
