The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth (2024)
Terrible person at her core
The episodes consist of a pack of lies being spewed by Indrani herself in regards to her involvement in the murder of her own daughter. Her blatant acting of how she loved her kids so much, she did not abandon them, what else was she supposed to do(eye roll), this is all fabricated, etc. And lets not mention how amazingly humble she is for "usually being the most attractive woman in the room" and how "this makes other women uncomfortable".
It is difficult to not hate her every time she utters any words. Her daughter Vidhie seems to be fake as well. However i do pity her as she was raised by this venomous snake woman. Sadly a beautiful young woman lost her life and i wish peace for her soul. The story told here just made me angry.
Top Boy (2011)
Fantastic all around
I cannot say anything critical about this show. The authenticity it delivers is bang on. I appreciate the brutal truths surrounding the world of trafficking, right down to the street dealers. This is what kept me watching. The story lines are not so far fetched that leaves you feeling like rolling your eyes. Sully and Jamie act their roles in each season masterfully, the personal stories weaved into the drug dealing raises the emotions of the viewer making it hard not to binge watch. I found the plot easy to follow and in my opinion the flow was natural from beginning to end. This series does not get the recognition it definitely deserves.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
Sad story that at one time sold as entertainment to the rabid audience
I finished all the episodes so im ready to give my take on this. First i will admit that i did not follow this story when it was on tv. I had small kids at the time and always busy so i only saw bits and pieces. Because of this i feel i had no pre conceived ideas about guilt/innocence.
Casey is in a lot of emotional pain. Im not saying this out of sympathy, i believe she is very much sincere when she says she misses her daughter, guilt or innocence aside.
Furthermore i find it difficult to believe that this woman murdered Caylee. This is obviously not an agreeable stance but as a person who has been immersed in abuse and dysfunction and neglect as a child until i was removed from my home, there is just a genuine love and care and transparency of time spent as a mother who took very good care of her child.
The dynamics of her parents are what makes me the most uncomfortable. There is no denying that her behaviour while Caylee was missing is bizarre and troubling, and thats actually the part that makes me believe she didnt do it directly. Her father, while i cannot say with certainty that he is a paedophile, is very creepy in the words and phrases he uses while talking about Caylee. Theres just something off with him.
Again, i am not taking a side one way or the other. I think if you watch this without any prior notions you may try to see things from a different angle. Give it a whirl.
The Fire That Took Her (2022)
How do you convey shattering sadness in words?
First i want to say that i feel gratitude to Judy for her astonishing strength and perseverance to make sure her story was heard. And im grateful to her and her entire family. She has beautiful strong daughters and i truly hope that they carry on and live their best possible life.
If you have a spare 1hr and 38 minutes in your day to hear and see someone who fought like a true warrior to make sure that a vile lump of cells never saw the outside of a prison until he takes his last breath, then please watch this.
Everyone should be uncomfortable watching this, but its the discomfort that makes it necessary. I cant really say anything else other than get a few tissues ready and this will resonate deeply.
Liebes Kind (2023)
This will pull you in and its worth it.
I liked the emotion that the characters were able to convey. This is not a dressed up story about the terror that abduction and abuse inflict. It is dark and at times quite disturbing. The children exude a sadness and innocence that is not annoying or over acted, which i find to be the case at times with child actors. Also the woman who is the main abductee is convincing with the intensity and roller coaster of emotions while surviving this trauma. That being said, there was enough mystery to keep the attention and i found the plot easy to follow. Give it a try. While it is not flawless it is really well done.
Ozark (2017)
Committed to the end
I really love Ozark because of the first 2 seasons. There is no denying the spectacular in this show. Acting, character development, engaging in many ways. I just found myself bored with season 4 as the cartel involvement escalated to a point where it was just laughable. There is not one reason that any member of the Byrde family would be alive past Helens disappearance. I was committed however and saw it through to the end.
Worst Roommate Ever (2022)
It is just ok.
I found the first two episodes engaging and an easy watch. On a side note the Palestinian guy Maher is, in my opinion, quite funny.
The last two episodes about Jamison Bachman were aggravating to say the least. Mostly because of Alex. For some reason her manner of speech and her tone of voice are super weird.
Euphoria (2019)
Excellent
I was told by my teenage daughter to watch this show. I have to admit i was skeptical about giving it a go, but i am glad i did. The stories and how they are told, the characters, the heartbreak and sorrow, it all makes this show a suprisingly good watch. Give it a chance and you will not be disappointed. Also if you do not have an open mind dont bother.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Watched out of curiosity
While the series is not terrible I dont think it is as excellent as people are saying. First the acting is a bit mediocre. Maybe it is the way it is coming across from Korean to English but there is something off about it. I had a hard time getting into it and feeling like i wasnt watching a bad B movie. The premise is interesting but the execution is just sloppy. Just my opinion though.
Homegrown: The Counter-Terror Dilemma (2016)
This is frustrating.
The family of the young man, who was eventually arrested in Bangledesh, are a perfect example of how manipulative and treacherous a terrorist can be. Not just a terrorist who is a Muslim but any individual who thinks that harming people and trying to justify it by using their faith to do so. The family of this guy should have been condemning the criminality and perversion of their own faith by one of their own. Instead they show pictures, and stories written, and examples of his innocence as a CHILD. He grew up to be a dangerous adult who didnt give a lick about what he was doing or intended to eventually do. Shame on all of them.
