Seven Girlfriends (1999)
A Funny, Lighthearted Romantic Comedy That Doesn't Take Itself So Seriously
This movie was about a man's search to find out what he is doing wrong in his relationships with women. This subject is intriguing because all of us men want to know how to keep that special woman in our lives. Although the answers were not really found and the film was not all that revelatory, I still got a chuckle seeing Tim Daly trying to sort through his mistakes and find out what went wrong. A good supporting cast helped the movie move along smoothly, and I must admit there are some very beautiful women in this film which made me stick around until the end. Overall, a good film, especially for men, who would like to put themselves in another guy's shoes to see how one man tries to improve his relations with the opposite sex.
Cool as Ice (1991)
A Movie That Is Dumb But Will Make You Laugh
Yes, I gave this movie a 10...and the reason is because it is so dumb, yet soooo funny! If you want to just have a good laugh and forget about all your troubles, this is the flick. It's really fun watching Ice trying to act. And, there are some very funny moments. An over-the-top brainless flick, but nevertheless guaranteed to give you a chuckle. Give it a try!!!
Thug Life (2001)
A Serious Film With Dashes Of Comedy
It's hard to know whether this film is a drama or a comedy. On the one hand, it's serious because the film tries to make the point that living like a thug isn't what you want to do. Yet, the film is sometimes funny with the over the top martial arts scenes and it seems to overshadow the point of the film. Maybe the director, Greg Carter, wanted to show the dark thug life in a lighter light so that people would get the point. Either way, the film is entertaining and funny at times and the point that Greg Garter is supposedly willing to make is not lost on its audience.
Josie and the Pussycats (2001)
A Good, Lighthearted Film With A Great Soundtrack
I was very surprised and pleased with this film, considering I thought it was going to be another fluffy teenage pic. After viewing the film, I was impressed by the good acting and the great music. It has a clever plot as well, and the film trots along at a good pace. Very funny..the film kept me laughing throughout and the music kept my feet tapping. For a good time for an hour and a half, check this film out. You won't be disappointed.
Enemy at the Gates (2001)
A Dreary Film But Great Acting
I wasn't too impressed with this film overall, but what was really good was the acting. The film drags on ruthlessly between the duels of the Russian hero sharpshooter, played by Jude Law, and his enemy, the German sharpshooter, brilliantly played by Ed Harris. The Ralph Fiennes role was interesting as well as we see him go from friend to traitor. The dark mood of the film can't help to put a drab mood on the viewer as well, as it tries to be a "Saving Private Ryan" look-alike. Unfortunately, the cinemotography used which tried to copy that modern war masterpiece didn't work in the context within this story. Good acting, but otherwise just a run-of-the-mill war film that left much to be desired.
