Borderlands 2 (2012 Video Game)

Reinforcements... depleted

"Don't worry baby, happens to a lot of girls"

One of the best - if not the best - Loot Shooters out there. Borderlands 2 got everything. From an outstanding gaming experience to a pleasant level system, great loot, a timeless style and great long-term motivation to an extraordinary story. If that's what you're looking for, you've come to the right place. Especially when you're playing with friends.

The Story The story starts after the events of Borderlands 1. You don't have to have played the predecessor, but it is an advantage. There are many recurring characters and related events, as well as some nice easter eggs, which refer to the first Borderlands. Basically, it's all about the new Vault Hunters. Handsome Jack has more or less taken over Pandora with Hyperion and is about to open the mighty vault. The story is presented in a multi-layered manner and with great humor. You will love it. But I don't want to spoil anything, because you should experience this story for yourself.

Graphics The graphics are timeless and will still convince in 2021 with their excellent effects. The lighting in particular is wonderful. Especially since you can turn on additional, pretty nice effects with Nvidia Physx. Nowadays you should be able to enjoy Borderlands 2 on the highest settings, because the hardware is strong enough by now. The game rarely shows that it has been around for a few years. But I recommend that you do not install the High Resolution Texture Pack as it poses a number of problems. You can try it, but my game becomes unstable and crashes every 1-2 hours with an "Out of memory error" with the HD Texture Pack installed. All in all - The game is still a beauty on its own.

Audio Above all, the voice acting is outstanding. Whether in German or English, all characters sound authentic. It's just fun to listen to the dialogues and the story. In several places you just have to laugh at the funny jokes. The rest of the sound design is still very good, but Borderlands 3 is worlds ahead of that. Especially when it comes to the gun sounds.

User Interface Even if Borderlands 3 brings a better user experience, Borderlands 2 still has an easy-to-understand, fitting, and beautiful user interface. I don't have to say more about it.

Endgame & DLCs The first run is normal, followed by the True Vault Hunter Mode and finally the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. Basically, it's a New Game ++ with great long-term motivation. As in every Loot & Level game, your basic goal is to get better and better. The game ensures that you stay motivated and always brings a few new things to the table.

You also have some great DLC to choose from. Especially Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is just too good. It's a playable Pen & Paper roleplay. This was a crazy and amazing experience for me. Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary takes place after the events of Borderlands 2 and Tales of Borderlands and connects the story with Borderlands 3. I highly recommend to play this DLC too, but complete the main story first! Fortunaly, the game warns you about this.

Since you can buy all the expansions cheaply as a bundle, I can only recommend them to you. More loot. More playing time. More Borderlands.

In the end all that remains to be said is ... Play. The. Game.

No Man's Sky (2016 Video Game)

Redemption Arc
5 August 2021
Where do I start? A lot was shown before the launch. Promised a lot. But the launch of this game was an absolute disaster. It was empty, lifeless, and ugly. A gigantic list of things that were missing from the game. Things that were promised. And Hello Games went silent. I refunded my game. But why did it get so quiet?

They worked. They worked hard. In 2016, the year of the launch, Hello Games published the Foundations Update. Base construction, freighters, new technologies ... It was something. But it wasn't nearly enough. This was followed by the Path Finder update. Exocrafts, multiple spaceships, spaceship classes, online base sharing ... Some players returned. It was a good update. But still not enough. I refunded my game again.

And then came 2017. Atlas Rising, the next big update, was released. A new, completely redesigned storyline that contains about 30 hours of playtime. New graphics, new textures, new stuff, new everything. Also a touch of the long-missed multiplayer. Finally! You only saw yourself as blue spheres, but slowly we got there, what was promised to us. And hey, portals! They were finally active. I actually ... did not refunded my game this time. Why? It was slowly becoming clear that Hello Games is doing everything to develop this game further and to give us what was promised - and ... what was next?

The next big update followed in 2018 and it hit like a bomb. NEXT was here. Real multiplayer. Greatly expanded base building. New weapons. New ships. And another revision of the graphics. My mixed feelings about the game gradually turned into good feelings. I started to love and actually enjoy it. And with The Abyss came a big update for underwater worlds! Great. Oh, and Visions brought new stuff too.

With Beyond, however, I started to really play and love No Man's Sky in 2019. The multiplayer has been completely redesigned and improved. Virtual Reality Support. And generally a complete overhaul of the game. This update was more than we all hoped for. But Hello Games wasn't finished yet.

Well. Now we are here. No Man's Sky 3.0, Origins. What can I say? The update is gigantic and above all improves the variety enormously. But it's best to take a look at the game's huge release log for yourself.

I'm looking forward to the next few years with No Man's Sky and can now really recommend it to everyone!

Man of Medan - Wonderful start, bad end
5 August 2021
The game starts with an interesting story. The atmosphere is also always convincing. Good graphics, good soundtrack. Actually everything you need for a solid story game, isn't it? I played it through to the end with a friend. We both had a lot of fun and were well entertained. Yes, the camera is sometimes a bit annoying, but it adds to the oppressive atmosphere. Even the characters were introduced well and were interesting. But then? Then suddenly it was over. My friend and I asked ourselves: That's it? It took us just over 2 hours to complete our playthrough. A second playthrough alone took just over 2 hours again. Two hours? Is that all for the price? We were very disappointed.

This game ...
5 August 2021
I've played the original Sins of a Solar Empire a few years ago for hours and hours.

When Rebellion came out i was completely surprised. They remastered this old game with so many additions. And it just won't get boring - singleplayer or multiplayer. Every game is different. Every game is unique. I'm still loving it.

You've got such a variety and the graphics are still very good for such an old game.

And the most fascinating fact: Ironclad & Stardock are still supporting SoaSE with new content and updates! This is just insane and i want to say thank you. Thank you for 10 years of amazing space battles. And yea ... Sins of a Solar Empire II is on the way.

"Especially if the warning is true."

Kingdom Rush Vengeance (2018 Video Game)

The king is dead. Hail the demons!
5 August 2021
Kingdom Rush is back. Sure, Vengeance has been available on smartphones for a while now. But the PC versions of Kingdome Rush are more or less the definitive editions. High quality, full gameplay, no in-app purchases. You buy the entire, complete package and get the successor of one of the best and highest quality tower defense games ever. The core gameplay is well thought out and good as always. The art style is beautiful, as always. There really isn't much else to say about Kingdom Rush. It just works. The twist this time? You finally play the dark side. Worship the demons and buy the game, it's worth it.

Life Is Strange (2015 Video Game)

A true masterpiece
5 August 2021
Life is Strange. Where should I start? I do not know. But it was so damn great. Such a wonderful masterpiece. Unique ... beautiful, sad .. Everyone should at least test the first free episode. You will not regret buying the rest of the game as well. No way. The idea with the butterfly effect combined with the game with time PLUS this story .. great! Even I've lost a few tears on several occasions. For real. The art style looks beautiful and the music ... yes ... the soundtrack is just great. Life is Strange is quite easy to control, resulting in a very good flow of the game. This is extremely important for this game. Thank you DONTNOD for this experience. And thats it ... Life is Strange is an experience you don't want to miss. Never.

Play it. I recommend this to everyone out there.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers now on PC
5 August 2021
Like its predecessor, Frontiers is a great and beautiful tower defense game in the Kingdom Rush series. Some features have been greatly improved and there is more content all in all. Like the original Kingdom Rush, I highly recommend Frontiers to anyone.

Keep on with Kingdom Rush!

Kingdom Rush (2011 Video Game)

The Original now on PC
5 August 2021
A great classic for everyone. Kingdom Rush is a nice, pretty yet challenging tower defense game. Easy to learn and hard to master. You could call it casual, but challenges are there. Of course, the successors offer even more. The graphic style is beautiful, by the way. I would recommend to wait for a sale but even for the full price the PC version of Kingdom Rush is far superior to the mobile version because you'll get everything playable for free. Just this one time payment. Great!

I can recommend this game to everyone who likes casual games and/or TD. You should try it. It's a little treasure all in all. Don't forget the sequels!
