Bowling for Columbine (2002)
Honest and Thought Provoking
Mr. Moore's latest documentary is honest and makes you think about the real problem of violence in America. Through the many stories he presents about what might cause violence in America, Moore makes you think, and think deep, about why there is so much hate and violence in the world.
In my opinion, each and every 6th grader should watch this film, in hopes that it may cut down on the growing amount of violence in the world.
The film is good, not great, but it does what most films don't. It makes you think.
Y tu mamá también (2001)
Wonderful Story of Friendship
What makes Y Tu Mama Tambien a GREAT film? The story. Two older teens embark on a spur of the moment road trip with a sexy older lady, that turns into a story about social differences, life, love, and the true meaning of life.
Y Tu Mama Tambien has many hidden meanings and is very symbolic to many of our own friendships. Watching this film is a pure treat and I am stunned as to why Mexico didn't make it its official selection for the Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards.
This film is GREAT because it has emotion that is conveyed in friendship and life meanings, not action and violence. A worthy film.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Purely Stunning!
First of all let me say, "WOW!" I once saw an interview about the movie Psycho and one of the producers said when he saw the final movie he felt as if he had been raped. Well, this movie is no different.
From the BRILLIANT editing by Mr. Rabinowitz and the harsh and brutal score by the Kronos Quartet, Requiem hits you hard and fast.
Personally, I think it is the best movie of all time, but even if you don't agree you will agree that it pushes the envelope and conveys brutal realism about what drugs really can do. My hat goes off to you Mr. Aronofsky!
Happy Gilmore (1996)
Comedy Gold
In what is Adam Sandlers best work to date, the hopeless hockey failure Happy Gilmore must join the Professional Golfers Tour to help his Grandmother with her finances.
As a golfer myself I can say that the antics pulled in this golf caper are are riot! I have seen the film probably over 50 times but each time I laugh as if it were my first time viewing it.
From Carl Weathers and his wooden hand, to Happy teaming up with Bob Barker, this movie keep you laughing the whole way through. Even my 80 year old grandparent loved it!
Perhaps the best review I can give for this movie comes from Happy himself-- "Talk about a hole in one!"
