OK, but no better.
10 March 2024
This somewhat slick, somewhat trashy series compiles footage and testimony from world war two archives and participants. There are flashy graphics throughout, which don't quite work, however it could just be the general flow of the script that is the issue. This script seems to be aimed at an American audience, it sensationalises serious issues that need no hype and flows really badly. The subtitles are not exact translations, it's a bit all over the place. Despite all the criticism, it's mostly watchable and informative. Some of the footage, particularly accounts from soldiers is deeply moving, there are many good points about this series, it's just far from perfect.

Awful, self indulgent, low grade trash
22 November 2023
One of the worst shows on the box. A disjointed, pointless cast flounder, propped up by nothing but their large egos. Even eye candy Maya Jama cannot save this lame duck that has somehow managed to be commissioned for more than one series. It's challenging to fill the review section with sufficient characters as this show is so unremarkable. It's difficult to understand why some people, all be it a minority, absolutely love this dreadful mish mash of a show. There's no accounting for taste. Compared to previous shows that embrace urban culture "don't hate the playaz" simply doesn't stand up. It has zero substance or insight, essentially, it's got absolutely nothing going for it.

Excellent cast, dreadful script
29 September 2023
The cast is first class and perform miracles to make this incredibly poorly written historical drama somewhat compelling.

Zoe Boyle is outstanding as Grace, were it not for her I doubt I'd have lasted more than a few episodes. The cast are excellent, the direction spot on. Frontier, has everything going for it, except the script. It's terrible, as if it's written by a child. The dialogue is fine, however, the plot is simplistic, nonsensical and lets the entire production down. One of the most irritating aspects is Momoa's characters name "Declan Harp" - I'm not aware of a person alive who's name is "Harp".

Mock the Week (2005–2022)

Tame, awful & awkward
28 October 2022
Mock the week will not be returning for another series after the coming offering. Good stuff, it started well, rivaling have I got news for you but since the BBC decided Frankie Boyle too sick & distasteful for the BBC (then proceeding to enable the most sociopathical, wicked government in history without a speck of conscience) Mock the Week, or "Mock" if you're a tw@ has become a comedy vacuum aimed at unimaginative imbeciles. Dara O'Brien appears to be so far up his own hole he's unable to realise how cringe worthy this lackluster sycophant fest has become. Despite having some very funny panel members, Hugh Dennis etc. It's a poor offering. Glad it has been cancelled, worried it'll make way for something equally as nauseating & poor.

Mock the week used to be good, it's not been worthwhile for years. Good riddance to below average tripe.

Dreadful
8 October 2022
I'm not sure who feels this dreadful platform was a good idea or how it made it passed the pilot episode. It's terrible. Showcasing terrible comedy that isn't in anyway improved by using animation to showcase the "talent". There are some fantastic comedians in the United Kingdom, for some reason only the worst have been selected to showcase their unfunny, egocentric unadulterated boredom on this awful show.

I'd describe it as pound shop comedy, but that would be incredibly unfair to the pound shop, which may have a lot of junk but also occasionally has a great bargain that is worthwhile. There is nothing good about this show. It takes awful comedy and ads animation. Obviously by the very few 5-star reviews some people actually do find this nonsense amusing, don't let that fool you into thinking about it is worthy of being on TV or existing in any way shape or form. It appears to be filled with comedians who think the smell of their own excrement is incredible, so incredible in fact that everyone should have to smell it. Egos will be egos but how this show was commissioned is beyond me. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about it, it's an embarrassment to the word comedy. Perhaps they are trying to copy the format of the Ricky Gervais show which uses animation whilst listening to Gervais rabbit on about things that he finds funny with his mates.

In fairness to the Ricky Gervais show it may not be funny but it is still better than this.

A must not watch for fans of the show
7 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Awful collection of smug love ins with cast and crew. Would strongly advise anyone who loves stranger things to avoid this like the plague. It's not good to see how incredibly self absorbed and egotistical some cast and crew are. Nauseating, cringe worthy, vomit enduring levels of self-aggrandizement have the potential to destroy ones illusions of the actual show. Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) in particular is insufferable.

Perhaps not being American I'm not accustomed to ass kissing, back slapping, over the top egotism. I realise that Millie Bobby Brown is English but the show is American & only Americans can reach such levels of braggadocio that it makes one feel physically sick. It was the same watching cast and crew of Breaking Bad on stage. Great shows, incredible shows but no one needs to hear the actors & writers telling eachother how amazing they are for 20 minutes. That is all this is. Horrible.

Celebrity Juice (2008–2022)

Lee Francis needs help, he ain't right
17 August 2022
Celebrity Juice was a refreshing change to the normality and prudishness of most TV offerings. Unfortunately it's descended into base, crude and demeaning farce. Lee Francis appears to have no limits to his crudeness, exploitation of desperate attention by any means guests and disgusting distasteful brand of humour.

There is a line, a line which is good if crossed from time to time. Pushing boundaries has merit. However, celebrity juice is rooted firmly on the grubby, sleazy side of this line. At best Francis behaviour is crude and sleazy, at worst it is creepy and sinister.

I lesser known gem, plays like a pleasant dream
23 August 2021
I'm surprised this only gets 8 stars overall on here. It's a fantastic piece of cinema. So much is left unspoken but not unseen. As such it is hard to review without including spoilers. The directional feel provides the viewer a voyeuristic angle as if one is on the outside looking inward whilst also immersed in the movie which is quite unique.

Any football fan with a soul will enjoy this
19 August 2021
Firstly, I'm an Arsenal fan so didn't like Ferguson (feared and respected him).

But he is arguably the best manager in the history of modern club football. This documentary offers a rare insight into the man behind the legend. Determined, somewhat ruthless, highly intelligent and very charismatic.

My only disappointment was that there weren't enough football clips as I'd have liked. Hence 9 stars rather than 10. This however is personal preference and nitpicking as this is an excellent documentary focussing on a true one off.

It's brilliant and has a little bit of Cantona which is never a bad thing.

Definitely worth a watch.

Lazy terrible writing from people who know nothing
28 July 2021
The Irish episodes are incredibly poor. Clearly written by people with no understanding of the troubles. Dodgy accents, unrealistic characters and terrible scripts. Embarrassing.

More Self indulgent M Night nonsense
24 July 2021
How m night shyamalan manages to get funding for his projects is a mystery. There are without a doubt many talented screenwriters who are bound to have some Jems within them. Jems we will never see, meanwhile, no matter how poor an offering Shyamalan pitches he's given the resources to make his latest self indulgent dross a reality.

The ideas behind this film are somewhat interesting, however the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It feels as if it was rushed, the screenplay is disjointed & lingers for what seems like an eternity. This may be a clever device that some appreciate, each to their own. For me this offering is well over that fine line between entertainment and liquid self indulgence.

M night shyamalan is boring. He needs a partner to extract the interesting & stimulating content from his ideas and ensure he doesn't get to ruin his projects with his usual brand of self indulgence.

There are certainly very interesting elements to OLD, but it never quite hits the mark.
