Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Another Amityville horror, ending was dumb
The actors were good most of the time. The plot is what ruins this movie. The guardian angel cult séance scene was when this movie took a turn. I did like the character progression and how we eventually learn how sick George was all along beneath his charming allure, reminded me of Ted Bundy who is probably the inspiration. However, the George's death scene was too abrupt and a silly deus ex machina to finish the story.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Best fantasy young adult show on Netflix currently
Firstly, I do not know the books at all. I went into this only knowing the reviews were really good. Having binged the whole series in a few hours, I can tell you it is very addicting once you start watching it! The plot line is interesting and they do not hold back on gore so be warned now. This is not a kid's show. The characters are actually likeable unlike other fantasy shows cough *ShadowHunters* cough. The acting overall is good however some line deliveries were a bit strange, perhaps due to the script. Ben Barnes in particular was the standout actor. The aesthetic of the whole drama and costume design is so beautiful. Russian and Slavic style clothes definitely needed to be brought into the spotlight and not forgotten. Definitely recommend watching!
La belle et la bête (2014)
Best adaption of Beauty and The Beast
I still remember this movie and it's been YEARS since I've seen it. Apart from the most beautiful costume design, colours and sets, the storyline is captivating and the actors do an excellent job, especially the 2 leads. The music itself is also very beautiful. This is what Disney live action adaption WISHES it made. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the Disney live action drew inspiration from this movie and did not give credit. If I could give any criticism, some CGI was a bit wonky but that's it, I can't rate this movie lower than 9/10. Highly recommend watching this one! Watch in the original language French please, which is the original language of the fairytale anyway so it's more authentic.
Why Did You Kill Me? (2021)
Can not trust ANY person interviewed
As a pharmacist, the first MILLISECOND I saw the victim's family interviewed I just knew meth specifically was involved...it was clear the full story was not being told and their self-victimisation was clearly unreliable. EVERY single person especially the victim's family in this documentary was playing with fire which sadly led to this poor woman's death. The mother admitting she played a huge role in drug selling was disgustingly self-indulgent. This is nothing more than a documentary on the effect of meth in families ft. Gangs .
