The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Truth (2021)
People saying it's "too political" are dumb.
I'm a right winger myself and I don't think there should be anything controversial about the episode's themes. All it said was "Racism=Bad" which is something I think every decent person agrees on, regardless of who they vote for. Denouncing racism doesn't make it "liberal" or "sjw" in any shape or form. The premise of this show is that it's going to be more realistic than other MCU productions, so I think including real world issues was a nice touch.
Of course, Isaiah wasn't correct when he said "no self respecting black man would ever want to become captain America" but no one's saying that he is right. It's just a perspective from a man who has suffered too much throughout his life and has become pessimistic because of it. But in the next episode, Sam will, for sure, become Cap. And maybe that makes Isaiah change his mind.
Other than that, it was a fine episode. I liked the slower pacing because not everything has to be CGI fight scenes. The actors were all great in it. Perhaps the biggest of my few complaints is that Zemo, who's been my favorite character so far, was barely in it and it doesn't look like he'll be back for the finale.
8/10 episode.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Yes, this is the best entry in the prequel trilogy and superior to all three of Disney's sequels. No, it's not a masterpiece.
The Star Wars fanbase's relationship with the much maligned prequel trilogy is... complicated. The average SW fan (at least on the internet) went from hating those movies with a passion, to praising them as nostalgic masterpieces, in just a few years. All because of another much maligned trilogy of films, and a popular meme subreddit. Five years ago, if you said this movie (and the trilogy it concluded) maybe wasn't THAT bad, you would be called an "heretic" online. Now, if you say maybe it isn't THAT good, you're still going to get called an "heretic".
It's clear that 'Revenge of the Sith' is neither a complete piece of junk, nor a flawless art work. So let's put the opinion of biased fanboys aside, and review it for what it is: a fine movie. One that used to be underrated, and is now overrated. It is a massive improvement over episodes one and two, but still suffers from the same problems as it's predecessors. Terribly written dialogue (no, memes do not make it any more tolerable), overuse of CGI, and a rushed plot that could've been better established in the previous entries, but wasn't.
So if you intend to watch episode III, don't expect the greatest movie ever, as Instagram and Reddit communities would lead you to believe. Expect a fun but flawed sci-fi popcorn flick with a great climax. (You can apply everything on this review to Avengers: Endgame as well, except the marvel fanbase didn't hate it at one point)
7.7/10. 5th best Star Wars movie.
