Dune: Part Two (2024)
Visual Effects at its best!
I'm one of the few who sees the movie as an "ok" but not "wow" factor! When I saw part 1, it doesn't click to me at all irregardless I'm very open to any plot fact or fiction flick, and after seeing part 1 I said to myself I'll never watch the sequel if it comes out, and yes we all now this sequel went out and saw one of the highest reviews given, so given a chance to see it as it might flip side my not so good reviews, but after seeing the sequel, it was the same as the previous one, yes, visual effects were at its best as always, action scenes were great, actors were excellent at their acting skills but the plot, and its connection for me was still not there, if you ask me, you may or may not watch the flick.
Argylle (2024)
One of the best film yet for this year!
The trailer of the film looks promising and indeed it gave a blast! From start to finish, it was non stop action and comedy at the same time! All actors were excellent in their role and gave a manipulative and believable
character's with a twist! Nowadays, if the plot are not intriguing, I tend to sleep in the theater, but it was so engaging every single scene you wanted to know what's next. Soundtrack or its music were very entertaining as well, and don't forget the cat, I'm not a cat lover but love her acting here, so cute! That so good, I'm planning to see it again soon and have it in my collections too! Go see it, have fun and open mind, you'll sure love it too!
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Best Christmas movie of the year!
I was surprised that most reviews here are quite low and expect it might be the same after I saw it, but to my surprise it was done well, love the visual effects , the soundtrack, family bonding especially Aquaman and his child, comedy was genuinely felt, at time gross but created in a good taste for all! I was laser focus on the plot, having quality family bonding, challenges of anyone and value of forgiveness, care and trust, are some of the traits they injected in the movie, that will make you feel good after seeing it! Sounds cheesy or not, it's patterned to our reality that makes more sense and tries to connect as much as possible given the fact that it's another super hero flick! Go see it, have an open mind and just enjoy the ride!
Gojira -1.0 (2023)
The best movie of the year!
I was supposed to see this flick a week ago but cancelled it due to time challenges and quite skeptical about the idea of the movie, we all know about Godzilla and seen I guess most of us previous films about it, the one I saw is actually not promising, but gave a chance to see this film, before actually seeing it, I checked the reviews here and to my surprise, it's very high, so I got excited to see it! Now my verdict is superb, 10 stars, best movie of the year I've seen this year yet! I was blown away with the visual effects, their acting was exceptional and believable, emotion injected was top of the notch , I even cried on the film, that's how excellent this movie is! Can't wait to have a blu ray of the film! Go see it, you'll not regret it! I don't really mind, reading subtitles as it adds genuine touch of the film, another classic and this might grab awards who knows like the Oscars! Fingers crossed!
Silent Night (2023)
My A1st 1 star rating!
After seeing the trailer, it looks promising and lot to offer, but to my surprise it's literally a "silent" film no
Verbal communications, which find me extremely boring that it made me slept almost the duration of the film, having the thought it's a nonstop action film from start to finish. In fact, I get those non verbal communication by their acting and soundtrack or music injected, but it doesn't gave genuine justification of all the characters showed, to the point you might just keep guessing or build your own story, which I find it intriguing. Plot for me is all over, no clear establishment of scenes, most of the time you'll find depressing, and at times feel
Angry watching it, as it defeats the purpose of enjoying the film as a whole. If I were you, I'll pass on this one.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
Rarely horror flick!
I'm one of the movie goers not a big fan of horror flicks, but when I saw the movie trailer, it breaks my choice of seeing it on the big screen this time around. It intrigues me, the trailer looks there's more of a story than the usual, So I brave to see it finally! My verdict, it's one of a great horror film I've seen this year yet, it's a jump on your seat edge thriller. So scary as I close most of my eyes most of the time! The acting were great, it's costume design and production design. The only thing that needs improvement is their film editing, seems some scenes were not done quite justice, as it feels it was rushed from one scene to the next, but overall, go see it, a good horror/suspense flick!
Barbie (2023)
Loved it!
As we all know the title of the movie suggest fun, tons of 'cheesy' moments, drama and a lot of imaginations. I entered the theater expecting the same and placed all my expectations low and just go how the film flows. Surprisingly, it has a lot of funny moments in the film, at times 'silly', but it was all understandable and placed creatively and entertaining. Margot Robbie as "Barbie" was surely a perfect role of her, while Ryan Gosling as "Ken" did the same and he was more funnier as expected! Visual effects were cool to watch and soundtrack was for me, a phenomenal! People do see mixed reviewed after seeing it, but do see Barbie as a film and enjoy its ride!
Sound of Freedom (2023)
Riveting!
I went to the theater with an open mind wanting to understand what the whole movie will be about, we might know by now that the main plot is about child trafficking and saving them. The actors and crew did gave justice on bringing the film to a more meaningful and gave a moral and sensible lesson to all! It will give you a lot of sadness to your heart and will move you to tears a lot! I went to a weekend movie night, expecting a lot of movie goers to see but didn't expected that it almost filled up the theater on a last screening of the night, glad people are going to the movies again and seeing this heart moving film!
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Excellent!
I saw the animated film more than decades ago or so and have an idea of what the film will be all about, or I guess need to refresh as well. As expected, we hear the classic sounds and characters, and once again reminiscing our childhood days and for the new batch of children and children at heart, this will surely one's for you! I love the visual effects, extremely cool, the new batch of artists were superb! I suggest you go to a premium theater to make more all worth it! From start to finish, your eyes will be glued as it's so cool and warm to watch. I never expecting that it's a tear jerker film, perfect for Father's Day movie and again, everyone will love it! Can't wait to have this on my blu ray collections...
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
My favorite sequel!
The movie is a feel good movie, with all the usual comedic antics and non stop action and adventure! What I like most is how they injected the comedy, it's so real and laugh out loud moments. This sequel has a lot of "heart" on it, it may cry you at times. The soundtrack has more cool music, brings back all good and classic times. The only down part for me is some scenes felt slow but it didn't spoil it, you'll still love it, watching on the big screen feels so good and complimenting with the best sound system will make you fell like you're in a roller coaster ride! Bring all the popcorn and enjoy the ride!
Violent Night (2022)
Not for the faint of hearted!
I was intrigue or curious how this new Christmas flick would turn out, after seeing the trailer. It has all the elements of the usuals, lots of comedy, some drama but overall more action this time, but with more gruesome scenes only catered for adults, and as my title goes, not for the faint of hearts! It has patterned to the classic Home Alone, but totally different plot. If I makes you curious more, go see it but again be warned! David Harbour as Santa Claus gives a new character showing his multiple behavior, showing the classic persona and showing a new different Santa that will shock you, how he comes a warrior!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
A sequel worth watching!
I was curious and excited at the same time, how will the sequel goes after our respected late actor Chadwick Bozeman absence, but after seeing it, as the title of my review goes," A sequel worth watching!" As expected, lots of actions and adventure continues, what I like most is they injected a lot of genuine comedy that will make you laugh out loud literally! The drama presented was top notch and will make you cry like a baby.. (guess no need to explain further). It has an element of horror and suspense as well that feels creepy at times. So again, from action to adventure to horror to comedy and drama, they've got it all!
Maid in Malacañang (2022)
My all time favorite Filipino film!
When It hit USA theaters, I was scrambling to find the nearest theater I could see it from East Tennessee, and it was in Virginia, so I was contemplating to drive or fly all the way, and decided to take air travel just to see this film, and after seeing it, it didn't disappoint and well deserved trip as well! I could consider it as a "Dra-medy" drama mix with comedy, and it was done perfectly! Actors portrayal of Marcos family and all the cast were superb, intriguing, miraculous and very funny. It is not a film about pro or anti Marcos, it's about simple things in life which is love to humanity. In terms of its technical aspect, I was blown away from the costumes, props. ( airplane was one of them), and the soundtrack was top notch, you'll be humming it after you saw it, a world class classic! Bring a napkin or tissue, the theater will be filled with tears....
Lightyear (2022)
Almost Perfect!
Honestly, I was quite hesitant seeing this film after seeing a lot of low reviews. I was planning to see it weeks ago and keep cancelling it, then I gave it a chance finally last night. I was initially expecting not too much, but surprisingly, it was good! A lot of emotional connections, wacky comedy and as always, visuals were at its best. If you just go see it, have an open mind and just enjoy the film as is. I do understand why many viewers gave a low rating, the pacing is not that exciting as a whole, need more plot surprises or twists, the tone of the flick is cater for older audiences or young audiences who like a bit a serious tone of animation. Again , go see it, you'll enjoy it!
Elvis (2022)
The wait is truly worth it!
Elvis fan or not, this one is a must see for all, and another classic film to be seen over and over again! Austin Butler as Elvis brings justice and did his homework well! Tom Hanks deliver another stellar performance! I'm reading a lot of buzz that they must be given an Oscar award worthy, and I'm one of them, they must! Bravo to all the cast and crew for a film well done!!!
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
A must watch!
It's amazing to see the original cast of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World! It's like a reunion adventure movie! I was expecting a more in depth connection of those characters but seems it gave us a small treat or preview only, given the run time, they could combine more further. Nevertheless, it was a great movie to see especially to those Dino fans like me!
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Adrenaline rush!
I simply love the way it patterned from part 1, as you feel the classic layout as a whole and added a new style for this flick! It's a totally engaging film from start to finish, and literally as my subject says, tons of adrenaline rush! Go see it on the big screen, it's extremely worth it!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Quite Boring...
I was expecting the same hype of the recent Spider-Man but it was way boring and had the time of my snooze fest or slept most of the time. Visual effects were amazing as expected but storyline or phasing was not engaging.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Creatively well done!
At first I got confused on what's happening then as the duration of the movie goes towards the end, it does make sense, it's like "Inception" meets " Marvels Mutiverse" Some scenes are a bit dragging but there are lots of moments that will make you laugh out loud weirdness! If you want to see something unique and creative, go see this with an open mind!
The Batman (2022)
Intriguing!
Finally, my turn to see the newest Batman flick and I did enjoyed it! It has a lot of mystery and my subject line says it all, "intriguing!" It's engaging like your part of Gothams lifestyle. Kudos to Patterson as the new 'Batman'! The reason why I gave 7 is that at times, it's a bit dragging, got the habit of checking the time from time to time, a bit orchestrated acting, but overall it's a good movie to see.
Sing 2 (2021)
More Music with a Heart!
All music lovers, rejoice! This movie will keep you singing and dancing on your seat throughout the movie! What I love the most, is it's not a typical fun going animated movie, but has a lot of in-depth emotions that will make your heart genuinely smile and at times even possible to move you to tears! Go see it, it's for everyone! A great treat! Can't wait to have it on Blu-ray for keeps!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Speechless! (For me, it's perfect!)
The film itself is full of wonder, magic and never a dull moment throughout the film (yes even though it's almost nearing a 3 hour running time)! I came from a work then rushed to see this film. Normally, if it's boring, I'll definitely put myself into sleep but seen this flick at 11pm (full house) and never yawn a moment, as your eyes will be glued to the screen anticipating what happens next after next, people clapped, shouted, laugh out loud and even heard crying ), that's what a great film is all about, people respond to it, go see it, you'll not regret it! So far my best movie for year 2021! Great job to all cast and crew! Bravo!
Eternals (2021)
Boring Marvel movie so far....
My 1st marvel movie that I fell asleep, it was so boring, the soundtrack were all over or not matching with the scenes, characters were lame, lacks strong presence, needs introduction in-spite of their numbers, and some similarity with one of the characters of DC, and my all time favorite - Superman, I may pass on the sequel ...
The Last Duel (2021)
Mind Blowing!
Finally, a movie that will literally feel you were back in time, from the sets, props, costumes used and most especially the acting of all the actors gave an award worthy! The action scenes are flawless and at point, edge of your seat horror (not for the faint of hearted)! Go see another classic and excellent directing of Ridley Scott, you'll surely not get disappointed.
Dune (2021)
Painful and Tiring to Watch!
I was expecting something engaging at least, Its a rare for me to sleep in the theater, but most of the duration of the film, I slept to boredom. I try to keep myself awake, but always forces me to sleep and so painful to sit in the theater for so long. I only like the visual effects, but that's about it. I am not looking forward for part 2, I'll simply skip it.
