Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
IT WAS GOOD
Not bad overall. Lots of excitement, good action sequences & nice link to the original. Did not like Val Kilmer's character although not much air time. Was expecting something way different for him. I did enjoy it though. Would've been nice to have a couple more of the original cast in it or at least some explanation as to where they all ended up. Maybe Michael Ironside or Tom Skerritt references. Either way, a good sequel.
The Orville: Gently Falling Rain (2022)
This was an awesome episode
Incredible action & fun to watch. I think the people who tear this episode apart forgot how to watch a show . The idea is entertainment. That is what these shows are designed to do. Why would you want to look at a show only to bisect it? That's not fun. Enjoy what it is. If you don't like the series then don't watch it. Like others have said, this is Star Trek-ish stuff with a touch of V (alien cross-breed) & Babylon 5. I love how the characters interact. I'm a senior & love it.
Le chant du loup (2019)
Pretty good sub flic
I enjoyed it. Reminiscent of Crimson Tide & Das Boot. Good action & suspence. A nice afternoon watch.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Not as bad as reviews say
Come on, it wasn't that bad. Good twists. Maybe the procedures are not correct, but we watch for the entertainment value. We were entertained. Seems like Rosamund Pike enjoys the bad person roles like in James Bond. She was definitely bad, but good at it.
The Croods: A New Age (2020)
A good sequel
Not quite as good as the first, but a good sequel nonetheless. Good animation, colorful & fun to watch. Some funny moments. Worth a look.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
LOVED IT!
Harsh user reviews. Really? I think you all forgot how to enjoy a movie. Why do you have to pick it apart so much? Visually perfect. The animation, music, colors. Just exquisite. I'm 66 & enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend it to anyone. The dragons were really cool. Always liked them. If you want to watch a good movie, then this one is for you. I don't care how it was written or character development. I go to be entertained & I was. Bravo Disney!
Monster Hunter (2020)
Not what I expected
Trailers always show the best of what a movie has to offer. Definitely the case with this one. The opening sequence set the tone for me. After that it was a disappointment. Not that the acting was bad though. It was entertaining with lots of action sequences, but the movie failed to answer a lot of who, what, why's. I wasn't familiar with the video game but it was at least a Friday night away from the house, even if for only a couple hours.
