Tank Girl (1995)
Gawd Awful
Looking for the living definition of a bad movie? How about a film starring a woman whose career includes playing a whinny foil to Gina Davis, and Caligula? Is that not the classic definition of on-screen tension? The plot? Weak. The acting? Where? The special effects? An oxymoron for this film. In short, this movie is the living definition of "you'll never get back those two hours of your life."
Orfeu Negro (1959)
Best of Brazil
A truly incredible construct from Brazillian filmmakers. Grainy film work only adds to the tension and undercurrents of the plot; excellent integration of Greek myth and life in the favelas (ghettos) of Brazil. A must-see for any true fan of foreign films.
Rushmore (1998)
The 7-Up (un) of movies
Were it not for Kingpin, this would without a doubt be the single worst venture in history for Bill Murray (one of the great movie comedians of our time). If there is a plot, it is lost somewhere in the contrived and caricatured acting of the pathetic cast. Un-funny, un-original, un-inspired, and un-believable.
Quick Change (1990)
So funny, even Gina Davis looks good
This movie has just about everything you could ask for in a comedy. Interesting plot developments, artful literary innuendos for the classically educated, slapstick for those of us who like stupid comedy, and a real 'get out of the way of the comedy' directing job. Bill Murray at very near his comedic best helps drive this film so hard that even the stiff, wooden Gina Davis gets laughs. A classic underappreciated comedy, good for viewing any time.
Ghostbusters (1984)
The funniest movie ever made
Without a doubt, the funniest movie ever made. Bill Murray may have inherited his role with the passing of John Belushi, but it's hard to imagine that even Belushi could have pulled this role off this well. Special effects were top-notch for their day, and still hold up today. This movie is the quintessential demonstration of how well a couple hundred one-liners can STILL flow through a very funny plot. An absolute must-see for fans of Murray, Akroyd, and Moranis; but an exceptionally funny movie for anyone anytime.
