The Final Cut (2004)

the seuth is stranger than non fiction

i liked this one a lot, for a quite a few different reasons. I was very pleased with Robin Williams involvement in the project, but more so, i was very pleased with what he brought to the film. Being a comedian, its so weird to see him not only not being funny... but being human, less like acting, or stage-schtick. The concept left a lot of room for creativity and the creative team behind the film, came from almost every corner of the globe. A Japanese cinematographer (tak fujimoto), a lebanese director (omar naim)... for me, as someone who watches A LOT of movies, this felt less and less like an American movie, and something... a lot more fun. This film is for everyone, -but everyone might not be ready for this film. I can only hope it was as fun to make as it was to view. Having fun, making good movies, thats what it should be about. Thanks guys. (you rocked! I found this film to be innovative, inspirational and also somewhat nostalgic and familiar at the same time. As a first sci fi movie for omar naim, he did some great work. Everyone, did a great job. (the applause sign is blinking in my zoe implant) Later from ghost town, V man

a monument to the craft

i watched this, and then i rewatched it, then i went and got drunk and watched it again. Then i needed money for beer. and had to go to work, but when i got home, i watched it again. Its that good. With plenty of replay value. I can't believe IFC let them have this much fun with the characters. I can't believe IFC is finally that cool. If you have any sense of humor whatsoever, or if you have a pulse -you'll enjoy these. Easily some of the best puppeteering ever. this kicked the seat out from under meet the feebles. I'm stoked to see the 2nd season. Only good things can come from this creative team, as they are absolute friggin comedic geniuses. Also they're way cooler than i am. much much cooler. And they're way cooler than you are too. How cool? you'll have to watch these to find out.

i liked it

it was funny. the old media forms demanded a formula -and if you need a set formula to show you how to enjoy a movie, maybe you should go watch old movies, that were assembly line produced. There's plenty of material out there, but this was something different. I found it gave a far more human side to all the female actors and i wouldn't mind seeing them in other things, now. As a male, i enjoyed the movie, and with some reluctance found myself very absorbed in the characters and their lives. This isn't an action movie, its a newer media form for a subtler palate. what it does better than anything is showcase the acting abilities and set design of the creative teams involved. The females, get almost all the best lines, and for the most part: its a estrogen laden satire on 'normal' life. i liked it a lot. it was great to see Jennifer anniston expanding beyond television and i think i could easily see the females in this movie ready for even more complex roles. The movie as itself, and on its own, i think works. but if you need lots of special fx, explosions and action scenes... they have a section inside the video store for that too. I loved this movie. and it made me sad... really really sad. and i get kinda apathetic about movies. for it to have even affected me that strongly, is a testament to the strength of its subtlety. I felt a bond with the characters, characters that i think tabloids and media have done a lot to distance the public from. this was a human movie. if you're human, there's a very good chance you'll enjoy it.

yowza

this movie was everything a pirate movie should have been. i think everyone did a incredible job, and the women clearly take good care of themselves. It was awesome... it wasn't just porn, its the next genre beyond porn, when people begin to accept the taboos around sexuality as being part of the human condition. definitely not for kids, but something maybe you should steal from your older brother. it has plenty of humor and plenty style, and plenty of good healthy fun. I had to watch it at least twice. thanks to everyone involved with this one. well mostly just all the bombshell gorgeous ladies. yea, it rocked. I found the film to be inspirational and uplifting.

ahead of our time

this was good. it rocked like a vibrating motel bed on prom night. i can understand why the Luddites didn't dig it. Amish and Menonite Film styles are purer genres. this was something new. There is a fine difference between the Amish and the Menonites. But if you aren't one, does it really matter? If you felt unprepared for this movie, its not because your dumb, its because you've been oriented to a simpler formula of resolution and character development. It's okay if you don't like trying new things. There are plenty of good silent films, and plenty of good black and white movies with easier plots and characters to follow. There's a whole world of good cinema, you might not be ready for this one. But, i was really hoping you were. we hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.
