Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Coyote Wants Money
Really well made film that tells the story of the greed of the white man (in this case Americans).
A story seemingly airbrushed from history of the poisoning, and murder of the Osage in Oklahoma.
This film pulls no punches
Lily Gladstone in an Oscar worthy performance, she conveys so much range with a glance a smile and fear and hatred.
Leo is great too, although Eric Roth has written him like Forest Gump without a lot of the charm
Roth also has used newsreel here to tell the story and like FG it works.
DeNiro is imperious az Hale, having just enough restraint not to overshadow the film.
He will battle with RDJ for best supporting actor.
This film will vie with Oppenheimer as best film and direction.
For me Oppenheimer is the better film but both these behomoths are head and shoulders above anything else I've seen
3 hours and 26 minutes with a slightly rushed ending.
Gosee this in the theatre if you can.
Pistol (2022)
What a load of B****cks
Where do I start.
Malcolm McClaren looks older than Steve Jones.
Steve Jones looks more like a young Mick Jagger.
Johnny Rotten looks more like gollum and acts more like Rick Mayall.
The incidental music is, good though.
Vivian Westwood looks right but far too young.
Whats good is the portrayal of Chrissey Hynde and Jordon.
I am surprised at Danny Boyle beeiing attached to this.
It looks like a pantomime.
The Third Day (2020)
The history of Osea
If you know the history of Osea you will see elements of Jack the Ripper in this and Walter Sickert famously used to go to Osea as a sort of rehab..... There is a rehab centre there now and Amy Winehouse has been there.
It is very atmospheric and there are lots of Tropes and camera angles used the were used in Utopia.
It's worth sticking with
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Needs a second viewing to fully appreciate this film
When I watched it for the first time I didnt fully understand it.
On second viewing there are subtle clues especially if you look at the books and DVDs in jakes childhood bedroom.
Especially the review of Woman under the Influence by Pauline Kael ( BTW a great impersonation of her)
Also the scene near the end when Jake collects his Nobel prize ( almost verbatim from a beautiful mind.
