Decent (5.8)
8 October 2021
I think a 4.8 overall rating is a bit much...I thought this was going to be the worst movie I've ever seen this year. I guess since I had no expectations going into it, I got a somewhat entertaining slasher film to pass the time. You can tell this film didn't take itself seriously from the beginning, so I don't get the one star reviewers as if they thought that this film was going to be a cinematic masterpiece and do something new.

Yes, the build up was lackluster. There were minor things that didn't make sense...and I won't even talk about the wokeness reviewers constantly complain about in films nowadays as if it takes away from the story. This is one of those films you watch when you don't want to think too much and just want some entertainment on a Friday night. It's not that deep at all.

Saint Maud (5.3)

I feel like this story has been done before and the director/writer wanted to tell it in a different way, but it just turned out as a pretty mundane psychological "thriller". I knew from the start that this film was going to be a hit or miss. But I'm conflicted...an hour & 24mins felt like an eternity, but it has potential to be so much greater...I don't know. I would only recommend it if you're highly interested to watch it

Wrong Turn (2021)

Unexpected
13 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't think this was going to be a COMPLETE "reboot" of the original Wrong Turn (2003), however, I was left satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and it was fun. Yes, it has nothing to do with the series because of the lack of inbred cannibalism. But I could tell from the trailer that there was going to be no cannibalistic mountain men, so you have to have a different set of expectations before seeing this film. I hope fans can at least appreciate the little homages paid to the Wrong Turn series. I'm honestly just glad that this film wasn't a complete carbon copy of the original or any of the other films (thankfully). SORRY NO IMBRED CANNIBALISM but I think it's a worthy watch. Also, the cinematography is beautiful

Abby Deserved Better
24 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the situation Harper (Mackenzie Davis) was going through, but if she was honest with Abby (Kristen Stewart) from the start then they wouldn't be in this predicament...among the other bad decisions Harper made. And it doesn't help that the family sucks, but had an odd major shift in character development within the last 20 mins of the movie. It made the ending seem like a fantasy like "this is what we all want to happen" type ending, but it's kind of the opposite of what I expected. The "happiness" in the end was forced just to make it a happy ending. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but more realistic because I don't believe that should've been the ending. I thought Riley (Aubrey Plaza) would've contributed more to the plot, but she was wasted alongside David...I mean John (Dan Levy), who was typecasted. And maybe it's just me, but the focus should've been put more on Abby rather than Harper. I didn't know enough about Abby except she's with Harper, an orphan, and let people walk over her. That's it.

In the end, I'm going to let the movie be a movie and say this isn't a movie I would watch to get into the holiday spirit. It probably wasn't Clea DuVall's intention, but what else do you expect from a movie categorized as a christmas movie.

Binge Worthy
22 December 2020
I'm glad I finally got around to watching this because this show expanded my admiration for Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, especially Cardellini. They're such a great duo. I didn't expect to like this show so much and it helps that each episode is a half an hour long, so it's binge worthy. The story is so well-written it keeps you wanting more after each episode. A great combo of drama, comedy, and mystery...I can't wait for season 3!

A Ghost Love Story
7 December 2020
The Haunting of Bly Manor is not horror. Bly Manor is slow in build, atmospheric, and intelligent. The story requires your full attention. You're being told a ghost story with romance, loss, and incredible character development. And exceptional performances by everyone, especially the kids. This is everything a ghost story should be. It's quite refreshing. The horror nowadays has been lazy, but Bly Manor makes you feel like there's someone behind you - even if your back is against the wall. I'm hopeful for what's next to come in The Haunting series. Amazing work to all involved.

Freaky Fun
4 December 2020
Christopher Landon once again delivers a entertaining horror comedy. Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton were a great casting choice. Though the comedy was on the low side compared to Landon's other horror comedies like Happy Death Day, the movie was still enjoyable. Freaky grabs your attention with the first kill. As a Scream fan, I would definitely recommend adding this to your watch list

why did I waste my time with this?
4 December 2020
The fact that this movie was written by the same person who wrote The Canyons starring Lindsay Lohan, speaks volumes. Bret Easton Ellis is an author not a screenwriter. That's why the dialogue is atrocious, the story falls flat, and the actors were given such a bad script that the acting is unconvincing. I'll give the movie 3 stars for the gas station scene because that was the only enjoyable moment of the movie

Face Your Demons
28 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"His House" is a exceptionally written film with great performances from both of the main stars. I have to admit the way the story was written was pretty clever. The film is more of a thriller rather than horror, but there are plenty of creepy moments to keep the movie on the thrilling side. The scene with the Night Witch, in the final act, very much gave me Drag Me To Hell vibes.

Big Bad Wolf
18 November 2020
Jim Cummings' character is confusing and almost unbearable, I can see why the writer and director had to play that character. Other than that, this is a pretty good dark comedy. I didn't have any expectations for this movie and I wasn't disappointed. It was the main character that made me give this movie 5 stars.

Worth It
16 November 2020
I should note that this film focuses more on the good and bad of human nature rather than the "disaster" itself. The story is well-written, I get a more realistic feel compared to other disaster movies. Greenland is more than just destruction and chaos happening, it's drama-filled and should I dare say kind of scary. If you're looking for a fun, exciting disaster movie like 2012, then go watch 2012.

Kick-Ass
9 November 2020
This show rocks. Nothing you've seen recently. The story is compelling, in a dark and humorous way. Wayne has heart, both the show and character. He's such a strange dude, I love it. I love how eccentric every character is. Highly recommended

Reminds me of Poltergeist...

And I mean the 2015 remake, but with a better story. Acting was solid, especially with this kind of premise. I think what made me like this film was that it had heart. Obviously, there are plot holes but it's better not to question it and just enjoy the ride.

Don't Watch This
1 November 2020
Jud Cremata wrote and directed probably one of the worst horror movies I've seen...and I've seen almost every horror movie. Cremata's filmography is mediocre and unimpressive. The score was annoying because it basically tells you when something was going to happen. The camera work was literally all over the place. The story was all over the place. And I could tell Cremata has no experience in writing scripts because for the first 20-25 mins I couldn't make out the dialogue because everyone was talking over each other.

Only two of the main actresses I know from Netflix shows I've seen recently (On My Block & Grand Army), and they did an awesome job. I don't know what this is or how they got involved with such a bland, tasteless film like this, but let me just say don't watch this.

Stereotypical Cliché
31 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As someone who's probably the only person who hasn't seen the 1996 film, watching this so-called "sequel" made me want to watch the original now. At first I appreciated the bisexual representation (as a bisexual myself), but *SPOILER ALERT* I don't appreciate the fact that the main protagonists basically made the bully come out as bisexual because of the influence of the girl's spell...like wtf? Also, the fact that the spell made the bully behave sensitively and the movie passes it off as character development.

You know what, let's all just go watch the original again...or for the first time.

Psychological Drama
31 October 2020
Not horror, but had thrilling moments. The story was refreshing to see after watching many psychological films using the same formula. The momentum slowed down a bit after the climax, but I enjoyed the movie. This Black Mirror-esque film had me entertained and satisfied. Check it out.

Satirical Fun

Justin Simien did a great job for this not so original, but inspired-based film. I was already on board when I heard there's a movie about a killer weave coming out, and it was a bonus to have all black women in the main roles. This movie is exactly what I expected it to be and I was not let down.

Authentic & Real
21 October 2020
This isn't your typical drug/alcohol abuse, sex, & violence type of teen drama. It's more than that. It's about identity, hardships, race, etc. This show gave a more real high school experience than Euphoria did...and I love Euphoria. The authenticity and character development is what did it for me. If you don't like "woke" or "political correct" shows then don't watch it. This show is real life and if you want to escape that when watching tv shows then don't watch this because this show really made me reflect on life and I like that. Highly recommend checking it out!

Meh
17 October 2020
Evil Eye has the elements of a Lifetime movie, that includes the acting and dialogue. There's nothing horror about the film, but it could've been a scary movie, if done right. It had an interesting premise, but it fell flat. The story went into the worst possible direction. There was false suspense and felt so long, even though it was only an hour and a half. Also, the movie couldn't decide what tone it wanted to be. It's a shame, this film had so much potential...

Well Done
14 October 2020
I was already intrigued by this movie, but it exceeded my expectations after viewing it. I actually really like this movie. The acting, the score, and editing was well done. This movie will keep your attention, though it slows down for a bit...but it snatches you right back at the end. You won't be disappointed.

Waste of Time
8 October 2020
I thought I would at least be a bit entertained but this movie was so monotonous. There were no climatic moments, the story and characters were dry throughout the film. Nothing happened. The original was enough.

Solid B-film
26 September 2020
This was actually better than expected. I expected a low budget, boring home invasion-esque plot/film, but what I got exceeded my expectations. I'm not trying to hype this movie too much, however, it is one of the better B-rated film from the thriller/horror movies I've seen. I recommend checking this out just on a random night.

Decent Film
21 September 2020
I rather enjoyed this light-hearted comedy. It was entertaining. I don't get all the negative reviews, like what do you expect from a movie with this kind of premise? Don't take this movie too serious because it's not that kind of film. If you like Seth Rogan then go ahead and watch this film, and keep your expectations rather low.

Pretty Good
19 September 2020
This is a decent movie. The main two actresses' performances make up for the unfunny moments. Even though the story veers off from the plot at one point of the movie, I enjoyed this film. I'll admit the characters were given a pretty stereotypical role but Richardson & Ferreira put their individuality into their roles which I appreciate. It's a good movie to watch when you're in the mood for a heartwarming, teen coming of age story.
