Christmas with the Kranks (2004)
Spirit Of Christmas is missed here
I enjoy the Tim Allen Christmas movies but this missed the mark with the actual message. Mr. Krank (Allen) wants to take Mrs. Krank (Jamie Lee Curtis) on a cruise instead of celebrating Christmas. He realized they spent over six thousand the previous year and the cruise will cost almost half that. To cut costs the Kranks won't partake in Christmas. So saving money is a bad thing? Everyone in town gives the Kranks a dirty look because they aren't opening their wallets as usual, to a smaller extent not participate in the smaller activities. This left a bad taste in my mouth as the movie itself had it's funny moments but that message of "spend spend" kept popping up. At the very least, the people at the end of the movie could have said they were hard on the Kranks and should have respected their choice and spending habits much more going forward.
RoboCop 3 (1993)
Robocop has feelings, that is all you need to know.
I didn't realize this existed until the year 2005 and for good reason. Movie also got a PG rating. Peter Weller was a smart man to avoid this disaster.
How can you go from rating R to PG? What did you think was going to happen? It reminds me of that Robocop series filmed in Canada in the early 90s I think? That was rated G and for tv.
I sometimes ask is OCP the good or bad guys? Regardless this low rent Mad Max didn't make sense. Detroit is the only city in America with a "resistance" to the evil OCP? Where is the Government?
Yes I am all over the place because movie made no sense. The only cool part of the entire movie was Robocop with his jetpack.
In a perfect world Robocop 1 and 2 exists, Robocop 3 was never made.
Hollywood High (1976)
An excuse for women to get naked
These movies are before my time (I'm American Pie Era) but I have gone back to these cheesy 70s sex teen movies and i'm liking them. This is one is no different but in this movie in focuses on women being the horny ones, having little to no excuse getting naked, having sex and causing trouble but without a real plot. Has its funny moments but movie lost steam towards the end.
I will add the bodies were more natural back then, less plastic and will say those 70s outfits are really hot. Simple tank top, tight jeans and wedge sandals. Fun movie to watch on weekend or nothing better to do.
My rating is based under than genre being a sex teen comedy type.
Alpha House (2014)
Another American Pie type movie...more nudity
It is a typical frat house movie with women having excuses to get naked. If you like that, you will like this... I did.
Plot is "meh". The one thing I found stupid in this movie was Kelly was sacrificing her sorority sisters so guys could get kicked out of the house as well, especially the sushi scene. Why were the girls sad when they got kicked out when they knew Kelly was reporting the incident? That made zero sense.
California Dreaming (1979)
Reminds me of fast times at ridgemont high but not as good
At first you would think it was about a guy from the mid-west trying to fit in but that changed overtime and there were several side stories, that is the tie in to Fast times. The difference is the stories meshed together better in Fast Times. This movie was all over the place and TT playing the trumpet never really focused on and TT's reactions to situations was odd at times.
It is a fun little movie but not a must watch.
Clifford (1994)
Movie was disturbing, that is what made it funny.
Clifford was a disturbed child and I even though the lengths he went if he didn't get his way was extreme but the movie had some funny jokes and good moments.
Roaring Twenties (2021)
I don't understand some comments by reviewers
People complain the people are "boring" or they are "entitled".
Most people talk about shows with too much drama and people having issues and "reality shows" are so staged. You get a shows like this and now people complain there isn't enough drama. Can't please everyone. Most of the people on the show are looking to better their life. There are some situations between the cast and not all succeed.
Entitled? How are these people entitled if they have no job and came to Austin to get a job or opportunity?
It is different and in a way refreshing. Because of so many shows out there, people will find this "boring" but I find it more relatable. It is "normal" people looking to make it.
If you want drama and over the top stories, this show isn't for you.
The show is alright. You are watching people trying a new city to see if they can make it there.
Chicago Party Aunt (2021)
It's been done
There are your shows where a character is either incompetent, lazy, clueless or just likes to party. Diana is all rolled into one and in the end she learns something or someone learns something from her at the end of the episode.
Netflix got it right with F is for Family imo so anything i've seen close to that is a tall order. Family had issues and at the end of an episode although some resolve, there were still problems to come, character development. They didn't hold back on raunchy or jokes which I love. They nailed it.
Hoops had this problem and while funny it didn't click all the way and I don't think there would be a second season. Like Hoops this show has it's moments but missed the mark and I don't see it going past 1 season.
F Is for Family (2015)
Like Married with Chidren with the volume turned up
If you loved Married with Children in the 80s and 90s you'll probably like this show. Love the vulgar, crude humor. All the characters are funny. I could have easily binged watched each season when they came out but instead I watched 1 episode a week because it was something special and forward to look after a long week of work.
Hoops (2020)
Didn't work
I love cruel, dirty, vulgar humor (F is For Family is my fav right now). This missed the mark. The whole Basketball thing just didn't do it for me and I like Basketball. Ben Hopkins and his cursing was funny here and there but that was about it. Rest of the characters were kinda boring.
Love It or List It (2008)
Still like the show
Earlier episodes Hilary accomplished most of what homeowners asked for and delivered (took place in the US). I think the show changed by producers. More of the homes they showed were older and outdated (guaranteed with issues) with some clueless homeowners giving budgets that were impossible to complete what they requested. These homes were in Toronto, Canada. Then the drama starts. Hilary does say that the budget is slim and can't always complete what they request. I've seen later episodes that have newer homes and looks like episodes were done back in the States again.
I think people also need to realize there is a difference between Love it or list it and Property Brothers and Income Properties. Income properties basements are finished with a given budget. Property Brothers for the most part they are updating rooms and will cut costs in order to make the budget if there are issues. Homeowners are also helping which reduce labor costs. For love it or list it there are structural changes, additions (bathroom, bedroom) which costs more with a given budget from the homeowners.
Hilary and Dave have good onscreen chemistry which is fun.
