Jojo Rabbit (2019)
A masterclass in film
This film was exceptional on many fronts. It was a comedy but contained some real human elements, Mainly the relationship between the boy jojo and his hideaway friend.
The costumes were brilliant and the idea behind the film for me was the boy shaking off Naziism and seeing the true horror that the German Reich had brought to his homeland.
This film deserves your time and is a cinematic masterpiece
Fantasy Island (2020)
Don't take this film to seriously
A decent film. It wasn't exceptional,. It wasn't poor either.
It was a B movie with a half decent storyline, some weird Gore and a constantly reappearing muscle Man.
Just grab a beer and watch it.
The Hunt (2020)
Not particularly good
Poor film, it lacked character depth, the storyline was really thin on the ground.
Characters were anihalated before they had even begun.
Gore was OK but nothing special and the ending was panys
Get Out (2017)
Horror but with intelligence
What a great film. Its not very often you can truly say that about a horror film.
It has psychological aspect to it as well which brings it up a notch.
Well and truly one of the great films of the decade.
For how much it cost to make its also pretty astonishing that it is so good.
I, Tonya (2017)
A good watch
This was a good watch for me.
It wasn't to serious, had some funny moments and also told the story of the infamous incident. Wether she did or didn't we will never really know.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Long dreary rubbish
Too long. Spends lots of time on the storyline of the friends reuniting when really they aren't friends anymore and are just all a bunch of mental wrecks.
The scary clown guy just didn't seem as scary and it was in general a pretty lame duck for a sequal.
The Aeronauts (2019)
Lacking a gust and some untruths
Visually a great film. Lots to Like from the costumes to the period setting.
What it lacked was a real deep story, not forgetting to mention the women is fictional as is the Indian actor. So I would say based on some factual events. Sometimes films that flick back and forth between the present and the past to build the narrative can become tedious and this grated on My enjoyment of the film in the end.
As a purely semi fictional film I would recommend a watch if you just want to see something different.
A good watch but don't expect to be blown away.
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
A good zombie killing flick
When coming to watch a zombie film for me it falls into two categories.
The walking dead serious style or the slapstick zombie comedy style. This is the latter. The characters are essentially the same, the killing is essentially the same as the first film which I enjoyed.
Unfortunately it falls flat in places and just seems a bit still, like they didn't have enough money make it a rip roarer.
Never mind. Wasn't as good as the first but rarely any sequel is.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Good but short on an acceptable ending.
Lots of fight scenes. As with all films getting to know the characters is a chore at the beginning. The film perks up in the middle. Some fun moments.
The end though. The end.
It was too short and awful.
The two main villains, one gets killed. Of. So. Easily might have well have happened at the start.
The main. Boss ended up a whimpering mess at the end and so it just kind of. Made it feel. Short changed.
A good. Film nonetheless but hopefully a second one can improve things.
