Evil Dead II (1987)
very funny over the top gore
I watched the first film evil dead and thought it was very funny very over the top. It's not a film that you can put logic to or any kind of realism but if you take it for what it is just sit back and enjoy and if you're a horror fan like me you'll enjoy it. Evil dead II supersedes the first one in my view it is much funnier With the kind of sick humour that will perhaps fully entertain hard-core horror fans. If you are in any way squeamish this is not the film for you. I thought the tree uprooting itself and starting to destroy the cabin was a nice touch. Overall it's pure mayhem. Switch your brain off sit back for an hour and a half and just enjoy.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
Fun Movie once the brain is disengaged
Yes full of plot holes. Yes annoying/unbelievable chatacters with no chemistry between them. But if you switch off your brain with a beer and treats then you can while away 90minutes and have a laugh.
For this reason i liked it. Come on Folks this is not meant to be a serious film. I watched the sequel and put it in the same b movie class.
Come on folks you can pick holes in any movie.. the perfect movie does not exist. If i want realism i watch a documentary. If i want real characters i read a biography. If i want science fact i don't watch Sci Fi films. Life can be very stressful sometimes in this modern epoch .
Give me escapism and a good laugh when watching a film.
8/10 from me.
A Perfect Spy (1987)
why perfect spy??
Very little espionage screen time in this adaptation, this is more about jumbled up relationships , mistrust , and family problems. I failed to see what he actually did?. Tinker tailor soldier spy and Smiley's people were far superior. Le carre should've stopped there. Magnus Pym should've disappeared in episode one. I thought this was supposed to be about the Cold War spying/espionage game , not an emotional rollercoaster of quite frankly boring repetitive scenes. The was scene after scene of reminiscence. He kept talking about the brotherhood, I saw him as a double agent playing with the Americans and British with no loyalties to anybody. Not even himself . 1 out of 10 from me. Maybe a remake with a bit more juice in it would do better.
The Lost World (1960)
poor remake
This remake the lost world is fine if you're 10 years old. I watched the original awhile back and it's 100 times better than this version. This film has a host of really good actors and I suppose they did their best with the limited edition second rate effects, They would've been better with stop action dinosaurs similar to Ray Harryhausen's work rather than stick plastic things on the backs of live lizards, The results had serious defects which just did not look right ,they weren't convincing and came across as rather childish.. in a nutshell watch the original and forget this version.
Thunderbirds: Trapped in the Sky (1965)
great episode start to a fabulous series,but..
I watched this in my youth and still have it & watch as an adult. I'm a kid at heart.. Firflash is a great start episode, but they dropped a clanger..fireflash could,nt land because the impact would detonate the bomb but later the pilot said they would try violent manoeuvers to jolt it free?? Never mind it's all part of it's charm of escapism.
Dead in a Week (Or Your Money Back) (2018)
entertaining movie
I liked this film i found it funny and entertaing which to me films are precisley that!! But on imdb i read many times it's been done before! Well of course it has in a hundred years of cinema history show me a film that hasnt .
And of course films cannot follow books,, costs are huge so have to be compressed . Come on people please accept films for what they are , if you dont like switch it off !!! You have free will 😁
Films are produced to entertain and provide escapism.. nothing more ( and make money🤣🤣) . I live with an actor so i have good knowledge on how it works in front and behind the camera.
May the film industry continue.. a world without film and music would be very sad.
The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961)
good plot badly executed
I feel too much time was spent on the charmless lead character (Edward Judd) & the constant attitude problem with drink ...there was no screen time given to the initial explosions of the first two bombs that caused the problem & where were the Scientists who came up with the solution??? Good effects on the weather changes and i liked the ominous music score. However in the end i did'nt care or relate the the lead character at all. He was pretty much the same in "First Men In the Moon" with the great Lionel Jeffires, opinionated and charmless.
I liked the other characters especially The Editor Bernard Braden and Janet Munro & even leo Mckern added certain credability to the world of journalism. All in all this could have been so much better.
Last of the Summer Wine: Oh Shut Up and Eat Your Choc-Ice (1989)
1 goof in a brilliant episode
When the trio come upon the bail Clegg refers to it as hay.. the bail is straw not hay.. hay is mown grass bailed and has a green colour.. this bail is straw coloured .. from wheat .. barley..
i'm a great fan of LOTSW and watch repeatedly since it's first airing so this is an observation not really a huge criticism.. i love the scenes where the women get together and give us men a good verbal workout. Very funny..
The Woman in the Window (2021)
tense with a twist
Super thriller. Enjoy it and take it for what it is.
Richard Jewell (2019)
brilliant
I was lucky enough to meet the lead actor, he came across as very natural in the movie and in real life intelligent, and puts lots of effort to detail.the movie itself is in my view typical of clint eastwood. mr eastwoods years of experience and professional success flows out of the screen into the audience beautifully executed by the chemistry between paul walter hauser and sam rockwell.
kathy bates also played her part well, she did at times though come across with a slight tinge of over acting.
after seeing this movie my heartfelt wishes went out to the real family of richard jewell.
to me this movie deserves merit and recognition as a brilliant movie and cut above the majority.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
LET IT GO PLEASE!
They strike again milking an already tired franchise.. just like the terminator. alien. predator films.
Time they got some imagination and stopped flogging a dead horse.
