Giruti kuraun: Guilty Crown (2011)
Hard believing it only got 7 stars
Firstly, the rewatchability of this show is prime. One of the best rewatchable shows that currently exists in anime. Why? The story is highly nuanced, detailed and the characters are enjoyable to watch as they develop. Probably bests Lord of the Flies in my opinion. The type of character development you will see in this fictional anime story showcases the darkest parts of humanity as evidently as the joy. Never does watching Guilty Crown feel downery or despairgy.
This show teaches us that under pressure people can bond together and be stronger despite the devils in their hearts. According to this anime, people change when faced with the existential threat of their deaths, but nonetheless these students found a way to stay strong and fight their way out of their fear.
Secondly, the show does move very fast, and you might miss some stuff as you're watching it. I've seen it many times as it is one of my favorite anime, but am still having a hard time understanding each character's arc. This doesn't really effect the show though, because the art style, score, and crisp sfx bring it to life regardless if you are even following the plot.
Lastly, I wouldn't recommend this show to everyone as it is quite horrifying to watch; but can definitely spark that fire to get you through whatever it is you're facing in life. This show gives pure strength to the right viewer. Highly recommend if you are into this genre.
Sakamoto desu ga? (2016)
A show about pride
Another great show. In my opinion, this show is well worth the watch. It is short and digestible without too many episodes. The art style and tone are similar to Uzumaki's comics about the spiral. Loved especially Sakamoto's speech at the end about making choices and confidence. There isn't really that much of an arc going on, the show centers around the mannerisms of a highly cool and defined man. I think Sakamoto serves as a great example of the "perfect fictional student". Not sure there are a lot of other competitors to this anime, it is quite unique and there isn't much out there I've seen like it.
Gôruden taimu (2013)
Best anime I've seen in years dude
A great show. Some parts in the early-middle could be turned on as background noise. But other than that, I was fully glued to my seat. The anime isn't like many of the mainstream titles, though it may follow some common plot set ups -- the voice acting, the writing, the screenplay is exceptionally better than anything you'll see in an anime in general. Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is similar to this anime -- just in the art style, however the tone is much different. I'm assuming that you have already seen the English version as I have -- the characters are memorable, and the comedy is quite impressionable. Even though the story can get dramatic, the characters are all believable. In fact, I've never really seen things from the main female protagonist, Koko's, perspective before. This story is a unique slice of life and I highly recommend watching it!
