Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997)
Do yourself a favor and see this movie!
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the greatest movie of all time! Forget The Godfather and Shawshank Redemption, step aside Lord of the Rings, there's a new show in town and they're kickin' some theatrical butt! THAT'S RIGHT! Go Go POWER RANGERS!!!!!!!!!
Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1975)
an awful, awful film
This has been called an anti-fascism film but I fail to see where this message comes from? If anything, all this film shows is how a director can get completely caught up in trying to visually disturb the viewer without ever giving thought to a plot or characterization. Passolini never ceases to use these wholly disturbing images for one second. The acting was borderline awful but, in actuality, this film shows influences of Italian Neo-realism so the acting may play into that. On the positive side of things, this film was shot wonderfully. Plenty of poetic long shots and excruciating close ups. But alas, the camera work does not make up for the overall awfulness of this film. I implore you to rent any other anti-fascism film before this one. Try Rome, Open City or The Bicycle Thief.
Double Indemnity (1944)
Fantastic Film Noir!
This film is classic. Everything that Film Noir had to offer, this film had and had plenty of it! The script was excellent. Fred MacMurray and Barabra Stanwyck steamed up the screen every time they were together. Lots of shadowing and darkly shot camera work added to the overall atmosphere of this masterpiece. This film grips you from beginning to end and jerks you around all the way through...Simply incredible.
The Glass House (2001)
very creepy, well done thriller
I was lucky enough to see a preview of this film tonight. This was a very cool, eerie film. Well acted, especially by Skarsgard who played his role of Terry Glass perfectly. Sobieski did a very good job too as it seems to me that she has a bright future ahead of her. The music was well placed but was fairly standard. The use of shadows was quite interesting as well. Overall, this was quite a nice surprise considering I'm not much a fan of this genre. 7/10.
Nekeddo burâddo: Megyaku (1996)
good shock value.
and that's about it. Sato does a good job of grossing you out but this film leaves alot to be desired. The idea behind the film (pain bringing pleasure) but the way it was carried out leaves a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). This film is definitely not for anyone with a weak stomach but if you can handle obscene gore or if you love that type of stuff, this film is for you. I gave it a 5 out of 10 for the fact that this film made me cringe unlike any film I've ever seen.
