The Dark Knight (2008)
Feels like a chore to watch. Not fun and overrated.
Batman Begins was pretty good. Boring and not fun compared to Burton's films, but WAY better than Batman And Robin 1997. But The Dark Knight is SO overrated. Is Heath's acting good? Yeah. Is it enough to save the movie? No. He died before it came out and that's why it gets the hype/praise it does. Bale's costume is terrible, his vehicles are ugly, his voice terrible. Heath looks like a goth/grunger psycho and is not fun at all. Eckhart is good as Dent/Two Face but I like Billy Dee Williams a lot more. The only one who's great in this is Oldman as Gordon. Nolan got that right. I gotta give him credit for that. Oldman is PERFECT as Gordon. Too bad the rest of the movie sucks. Its not gothic either like Burton's masterpiece. Many scenes just look like Chicago with a blue sky. Very disappointed. This movie is painful to watch and I looked at my watch several times.
State of Grace (1990)
The best gangster movie I've ever seen!
1990 was a tough year for gangster films. There was some tough competition. You had Goodfellas, The Godfather Part III, and Miller's Crossing. So it's not surprising that Phil Joanou's gritty noir-ish Irish mob film "State Of Grace" gets overshadowed. A lot of people didn't even hear about it until it came on HBO and video cassette later on in the 90's. I think it's the best of all those movies.
The story is:
A young man Terry Noonan returns to his Hell's Kitchen neighborhood after a 12 year absence. But he's got a secret. He's an undercover cop who left Boston to start over in NYC. He soon hooks up with his childhood best friend Jackie Flannery (Gary Oldman) Jackie is an enforcer in the Westie's The Irish Mob. His older brother Frankie (Ed Harris) recently became the boss. Terry also rekindles old romantic feelings for their sister Kate (Robin Wright)
Will Terry's loyalties to law enforcement force him to turn on and possibly even kill his best friends or will he switch sides and join the Irish mob? You'll have to watch and find out!
PS: Buy the soundtrack by the GENIUS composer Ennio Morricone! It's brilliant and back in print as a beautiful 2 disc collection with pictures and liner notes!
Knight Rider: Custom Made Killer (1985)
Solid suspenseful season 3 episode!
I liked this episode a lot! The "custom" car and the driver were scary and it was fun to watch Michael and KITT help out models in the fashion industry. Also veteran actor Alan Oppenheimer gives a great guest performance in this episode. I love Knight Rider so I'm biased. But I think this is one of Season 3's best episodes. Check it out if you like 80's action tv!
