Running Scared (2006)
One of the weirdest experiences I've ever had while watching a movie
On one hand I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be funny or not.
If it was then it may be one of the best comedy movies I've ever seen.
If not, it's still a easy rewatch since it's so bad it's good
Even so, the movie actually has some deeer thematic elements. I think its intent is to show all the horrors of modern cities. There's corrupt cops, mobs and even also CP producers.
The movie had me busting out laughing so many times. The part when the "Mack Daddy Pimp" got killed and delivered the "say hello to my lil friend" line I just couldn't help but laugh.
It was just so hard to tell if it was a smartly written dark comedy with parody elements or it was actually a serious crime thriller.
The way over the top action moments don't help either.
Civil War (2024)
Unique, Intense and visceral
A unique portrayal of a war movie. The core of the film is about journalists and the horrors they witness and capture everyday. With the grounded and realistic portrayal of combat it makes you feel like you're there. I saw it with louder sound and a bigger screen. The gunshots were pretty damn loud, at least in my opinion. And the were some great shots. Many of the shots had a shallow depth of field, connecting the audience more with the characters.
I thought it moved a little slow here and there, but it was a mainly pretty good movie. Or at least a lot better than I expected.
The highlight was definitely the sound and mixing. It was the reason it pulls you in the action the way it does.
Akira (1988)
Gorgeous visuals but don't know if I liked it
7.5/10
The movie is absolutely stunning to look at. It's so rich in detail and the world feels alive. The overall aesthetic is something I really enjoyed/.
However, the problems I have are with the baby things. I know it plays into philosophical topics and such, but I just wasn't really vibing with that aspect the entire time.
The movies first hour or so was very interesting and of course beautifully animated, but the ending was where I felt like things were not as good for my personal taste.
The ending battle was again well animated, with amazing grandiose visuals. However, when the babies got bigger, I felt like it was kind of ridiculous. It was something I wanted to be over already on those parts.
Overall it's worth a watch, and I think I should definitely re watch it to get a better understanding and perspective on what this film truly is.
Also the story is deeply complex so I might be messing things up here.
Heat (1995)
Intense thriller
Heat was a great thriller all the way through. Michael Mann's script was superb, as it was able to create complex characters, great action sequences, good pacing and tension buildup and great dialogue. The film was also able to clearly convey its message of duality in man. The performances from Al Pacino and Robert De Niro were pretty great especially De Niro. Al Pacino had some cheesy/overacting moments in the beginning and some other parts. The rest of the cast was able to portray their characters well and believably. The overall editing of the film was also top notch. It was able to keep the tension building throughout without being jarring or annoying. And the cinematography was stellar. There were many scenes with great use of color, particularly dark blue or green. It helped to create a grounded tone. There were many standout shots in particular the last shot of Hanna standing next to the dying McCauley while the background was stunning. Lastly Mann's direction was on point. He was able to have a lot of attention to detail and use action and drama to help build tension.
Gripes: it did at times feel a little too long. Pacino's overacting did sometimes take away for my immersion.
Standout scene: Bank Heist/Shootout: This was very enthralling, because it was shot and edited to a point where everything felt fast and high stakes. It was also the climax of the film since everything went badly and resulted in the falling action.
The Green Knight (2021)
Excellent adventure film
This movie was a great experience. Not only was the story pretty cool, but the cinematography, editing, and sounds were also great. This was the best shot movie of the year that I have seen. The only nitpick I have is that the last 15 minutes were somewhat strange, but this definitely needs a rewatch. I 100% recommend if you also enjoy A24 films.
Two Distant Strangers (2020)
It was good until it wasn't
The short I found was really well done. Except for the one sided and generalization of cops and white people. It really grinds my gears when media does this. But the actually technicality of it was the reason it was somewhat enjoyable.
Breaking Bad (2008)
No cap the best show of all time!!
I was left speechless by the end of the show. I found myself wanting to rewatch it immediately. Which is funny because, I thought the first season was boring. The show gets better and better. GIVE IT A CHANCE!!! Especially from the last of half of Season 4 to Felinia.
Watch Dogs: Legion (2020)
Not game of the year
The game is boring. Like many of the watch dogs games. Watch dogs(2014) was good. Part two was boring and legion is boring. Ghost of Tsushima has game of the year in the bag.
Hoops (2020)
Hot take its trash
There is overused f bombs and other language. Don't think I laughed once in the entire show. Most likely the worst Netflix original, Netflix has ever made. Plus there is hardly any basketball in the show. I thought it was about basketball. In all don't watch if you don't want to waste your time.
Call of Duty: World at War (2008)
Super underrated
This game set up the black ops franchise and is very good. The campaign has you play as the Soviet Union and Americans in Japan. It is a realistic game and very gritty. It is underrated and should be appreciated more.
Black Panther (2018)
Really really overrated
This is a very overrated film. Though it is overrated it is also an okay movie. The story is alright, but is not the best marvel movie of the past decade. I have no clue in how this movie was even a best picture nominee. Infinity war could have been a nominee over Black Panther. It is a good movie, so please don't take it as a bashing.
Cats (2019)
Don't watch this horrible waste of time no good movie
Worst movie of all time. I can't believe they were going to try to make an Oscar run
