Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two (2023)
This movie truly holds onto Ponniyin Selvan's legacy!
Synopsis: Ponniyin Selvan 2 is a technically well-made film. The cinematography, production design, editing, soundtrack, and performances are all top-notch. However, the lack of depth of the film's final battle and its slow pace may not be to everyone's taste.
The cinematography in Ponniyin Selvan 2 is simply stunning. The film is beautifully shot, with lush visuals that transport the viewer to the world of the Chola empire. The battle scenes are particularly well-shot, with the camera capturing the chaos and excitement of the conflict. The production design in Ponniyin Selvan 2 is also top-notch. The film's sets are elaborate and detailed, and they help to create a realistic and immersive world. The costumes are also beautifully designed, and they help to bring the characters to life.
The editing wise the film is a bit long, but the screenplay keeps the pace moving and prevents the film from becoming bogged down. However, there are a few scenes that could have been trimmed, and the film's climax feels a bit rushed to my liking.
The legendary duo of A. R. Rahman and Maniratnam hit the ball out of the park again. Its soundtracks are one of the film's main highlights that left me feeling nothing but Goosebumps at the coronation ceremony, they help to set the tone of the film. The background score is also excellent, and it helps to create a sense of suspense and excitement.
The performances are all excellent imo. Vikram(solid performance), Jayam Ravi(my fav), Karthi(loved him), Trisha(the chemistry between her and Karthi's character was so sensual ngl), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan(the one and only true beauty queen) all give powerful and nuanced performances.
Overall, I thought Ponniyin Selvan 2 was a visually stunning and technically well-made film. However, the war scene sequence in Ponniyin Selvan 2 may not be to everyone's taste thus, I would recommend it to fans of *historical drama* who are willing to sit through a long and somewhat slow-paced film.
Kantara (2022)
This movie left me spellbounded ngl🔥🔥
This kannada masterpiece left me spellbounded not just only with its storyline and but the way how Risabh Shetty presented this masterpiece beyond our words.
The director and lead actor is Rishab Shetty in this marvellous movie. The female lead Sapthami Gowda looks perfect as the woman torn between life and duty. Kishore Kumar G as the Forest Officer Murali is top notch.
The shining work by cinematographer Arvind Kashyap is visible in each frame by means of carefully blending the story with his framing of visual poetry.
The background score is gritty, the music encapsulates local sounds and folklore perfectly and this movie makes you wonder how much we have to learn from our own music before going to look for melody in the west.
The fight sequences, the dance of "daiva" and the makeup as well as costumes department have done magic.
Must watch & highly recommended from my side.
Hatim (2003)
India's greatest ever fantasy-adventure show till date, change my mind
Whether it was the love & understanding b/w Hatim & jasmine or the bromance b/w hatim & hobo all things hooked us to the very last second of this series. But the main highlight was it's unique path breaking writing, screenplay & cinematography(take a note that at that time, there wasn't any highly advanced CGI like today).
Over the top their pitch to perfect ending with a great social message along with it for which most of the other show usually miss the trick.
Dark: Das Paradies (2020)
Out of many darkness, we've got a ray of light in 2020 and thats solely becoz of DARK
One of the best ending I've ever watched if not the best of all time. The makers got it right in all direction to make an inch perfect masterpiece. Everything that happens has the reason in this show, the direction, the acting plz don't forget the name "Louis Hoffman", the background score, and most importantly its tight writing that leads to a inch perfect show we could've asked for. "The beginning is the end is the beginning" loop finally got broken and Im happy they didnt extend this into an infinite endless long running series, so cheers to the makers for that. Its definitely lived up to the hype, and "Im hearing that BREAKING BAD has passed its GOAT web series crown to the DARK"
