Coupez! (2022)
Good copy of the original!
If you don't know get to know this film was done, all most shot for shot before 'one cut of the dead'! But watching the same film in different languages was still good. Did humour from didn't countries! Laughed a lot!
Kamera o tomeru na! (2017)
The Perfect dose of Zombies
Look know further a zombie film, one take with twists and turns to never stop you guessing! A brilliant film don't hesitate just go and watch it. It is now in my top 3 zombie films if not the my top!
Les affamés (2017)
A zombie feast!
A genre that most feel can't be done in a different way but boom... this has nailed it!
Unpredictable, jumpy, some great cinematography, realistic characters (plus no Hollywood Botox), oh and shit load of zombies, the running kind, the worst kind!
If you have come here to be scared, made to jump and see gore this ticks all the zombie horror boxes! Fully entertained !
Irréversible (2002)
Love or hate?
For me this film was brilliant. The rawness of French cinema is still undefeated. Yes the tunnel scene is savage and I did mute and look away after awhile as it is ten minutes long.
The shots, the juxtaposing camera movements
Dishevelled the audience from the offset, almost to the point of nausea! The colours used and the concept of the reverse is just brilliant. Loved the film and no it isn't for the faint hearted!
But sometimes I think we are too used to "safe cinema"
Whiplash (2014)
Never stop chasing your dream!
When you have think you have worked hard at something watch this and think again! Whiplash shows you that to get to the top you really have to shed blood, sweat and tears. This is a film was brilliant!
Get Out (2017)
Well worth a watch!
Yes this film was hyped but if we look past that at the film itself. Framing Great, cinematography was easy on the eyes, mise en scene was very well thought through colour red and blue (keep an eye out). Yes the story itself was a play on others (see people crying in the comments about it) but in the world of art things are borrowed and reused. I only wish that everything could be borrowed and re-packaged as well as this.
Jackie Brown (1997)
Perfect story
The perfect story, great acting. Not every film needs to have crazy explosions and people with mad powers ripping each other apart! A Sunday evening slow burner.
Natural Born Killers (1994)
Wow just wild!
When I closed my eyes I can see the images of the quick cut edits from this film.
I won't forget this film for a long long time, basis of a good story just told in a never seen before way.
This is what a bad trip on acid would probably be like an uncontrollable set of vivid flashes of madness. Shot like nothing you have seen before from the beginning all the Dutch angle shots making you full uneasy before anything happens then we fall into the madness that Ensues.
Strap in and brace your self for this one!
Interstellar (2014)
One to remember
I'm not sure where to beginning, my knowledge of space and science is limited but this film blew me away with the concept of space/time and black holes. I'm actually not sure what to do with myself now!
Left me speechless. Watch this film, left feeling weird and that I hardly know anything about the universe and that there is so so so much more to just the dimensions we see and know of!
Drive (2011)
Nothing to tell the kids about...
As the credits roll on in the background and the memory of Ryan and his cardboard perform leave my being I can say after a lot of good view this just wasn't anything special.
It really has made me realise not to believe the masses just watch the film and see how it really is.
Can't lie I almost turned it off after 50 minutes, but something told me to carry on... or was it that the remote was on the other side of the room?
Either way, from starting as a solid 1/10 by the end it crawled upto 5/10. Some nice lighting and shots but film was mostly hype.
It baffles me to why people like Ryan Gosling as a actor, maybe he's easy to work with or is cheap. I just don't get it his acting / casting as he is the least badass person ever.
Maybe if he was an extra typing at a desk in the background of a shot but lead role.... No
Kynodontas (2009)
Another Lanthimos film that will be hard to shake off!
We may not remember what someone said, we may not remember what they did but we sure remember how someone made us feel!
Every Lanthimos film is the same, you have to be prepared to step out of your comfort zone.
Film maker like no other yes I love his work but however you may not, it's a real love hate thing!
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Wow!
Even after all this time this movie still has a massive impact and packs a big punch!
Wasn't just what to do with myself after watching this.
Everything was thought though to the last detail the Mise-en-scène, sound, lighting! Plus the concepts used till are relevant today.
A must watch film!
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
70 years and it still packs a punch!
The whole role reversals of this film was the first thing to really stand out to me!
Plus I imagine 70 years ago this would of blown people's minds... a woman give a man money and everything he needs.
Great acting, great story just a great film!
Zeroville (2019)
I like it and that's all that counts
These are the types of films I feel like certain actors and people in the film industry like to do for a bit of fun! They have worked hard not it's time for them to try something a bit different to there norm.
A lot of experimental shots and shots filmed within the film. Ended dragged a bit but there enjoyed the film on a whole!
Shirley (2020)
Zzz
Falling asleep during this film would of been more productive than watching it.
No story, just a jumble of experimental shots... thanks for the pretentious film!
Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound (2019)
A perfect beginners guide to sound!
Currently embarking on a film production course and sound was this weeks topic and I can tell you that after watching this I feel like I will never take sound for granted again.
We hear things everyday, but do we really listen to what is happening around us? I know I barely did until watching this.
So thank you for allowing me to listen and hear clearly again !
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
Transported into my tv!
I've watched every episode twice, once for the visual aspect and secondly for the content as I could take all of it in, in one sitting!
This program blew me away as haven't seen anything like it.
It makes you think, it makes you uncomfortable and it brings out emotions that have lay dormant for a while.
It won't be for everyone like most things in life or on tv but the minds behind this have let's say experimented with certain things and have created this masterpiece!
Cidade de Deus (2002)
A master piece!
Everything a film should be!
Make sure you watch this film, you won't regret it!
#Saraitda (2020)
Korean Zombie Films have been redeemed.
After the 'Peninsula' I thought that was it for Zombie films out of Korea but this has saved the day!
Good scares, good zombie actors and simple yet effective plot.
An Oscar isn't going to be won through this film but do we really watch a zombie film to see an Oscar winning performance?
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Hmmm...
If your going in thinking it's going to be like the Eternal sunshine... I think not! (Other than the way Kaufman messes with your mind!)
The feelings this film made me feel went through awkward, worried, scared, elated, angry and confused.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I don't want to feel something when I watch a film but personality this many feelings don't need to be messed with in this space if time or one film.
They messed about and had fun with this one!
Story line was weak but the ride you get taken on isn't one to tell the kids about...
I get art is experimental but I didn't enjoy it within this film!
I know there will be the people that absolutely love this film but they came here for the pretentiousness, so I'm sure they enjoy that buffet.
Busanhaeng 2: Bando (2020)
Please don't waste your time!
This film should not be related in away way to 'Train to Busan' (other than having zombies in it). Hurts me that it is!
The plot was a weird zombie knock off of mad max with way too much CGI.
They had double the budget for this one and I feel the CGI person must be in early retirement as they defiantly got half the budget.
All I want to say is just keep rewatching the first one as it would defiantly be better to do that that invest your time into 'peninsula'...
Thank me later, as now I can sleep better knowing I saved someone from watching this film!
Contagion (2011)
Plain and lame!
Wanted a good end of the world type film... Ended up with a weirdly shot film that didn't didn't hold my attention. Should of just watched 2012 or day after tomorrow. I would of had more surprises watching them for the 100th than watching this film for the first time...
The Outsider (2020)
After the first two episodes it's like being dragged through a boring bush...
First two episodes were good and it hooks you in, then the rest of it is an out of focus mess!
Seems like a very experimental amateur shooting spree...
What is wrong with having two people in focus within the same shot?? Now that I'm writing this I just wanted to stop and save my fingers the typing you have been warned! Draggged me tooo the end but you if get to read this then just don't watch it.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Word can't comprehend.
I'm not even sure where to begin, I wish these stories were never ending. Pure brilliance.
After ever story my jaw had to be manually closed.
Hope in humanity restored!
