Tomorrow Is Today (2006)
Worth the time!
I saw this film at the Annapolis Film Festival in 2006. It was very well acted, directed, and shot. It's amazing to me that films like this don't seem to find their way to audiences, while there are 800 sequels coming out each year...and countless retreads of 70's and 80's TV shows. It's amazing what Frederic Lumiere has done on an independent budget. I'd like to see what he could do with Fox or Warner or Dreamworks backing him! And the cast was excellent. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Scout Taylor-Compton in the coming years. I also enjoyed the performance of Ken Arnold, who played her father. Very subtle and understated. Great work. Great film. Thank you.
A Knight's Tale (2001)
Great, fun Summer movie.
On the surface, with music from the present day, and non-period moments, this movie might look a little gimmicky. But it's a great story. It's told through indearing characters. It's well-shot. It was a blast.
Saw it as a sneak preview, the same day I saw The Mummy Returns. By the time I left the theatre, I had forgotten all about Mummy. Heath Ledger was great. He's going to be Hollywood's BIG star for a LONG time to come.
Valentine (2001)
Not so good...
If you're just looking to go with some friends and see a movie with some laughs and some decent scares, this will do.
If you're going in expecting this to be as good as the first Scream...don't. It's not.
Also, be careful. A LOT of the media stuff (with a quick synopsis of the story line) identifies a certain actor (or actress) as the killer. I saw this in the "Coming Soon flier" in the theatre lobby. It says "<person's name> plays a geek scorned in middle school, and is now back for revenge." Kind of ruined any chance of the director trying to re-direct focus, and making me think it was someone else.
SO if you DO go see it, go in with low expectations, don't read the flier in the lobby, and try not to pay full price!!!!
