Mare of Easttown (2021)
Great show to binge on a long evening
Great performance by everyone, all are strong characters in the show. The story was impressive and unexpected turns keep it entertaining.
Kate winslet played a good role in portraying a complicated family life. When Evan peters joined, it added some more depth to the show and episode 5 made me gasp quite a few times. There are some side stories that in my opinion take up some space, like Siobhan with Bella and the band. But even that isn't too obvious and the show stays enjoyable to watch.
All with all the whole show is tragic story for many families in Easttown, each with their own trauma and issues. But the series are well executed with a really talented cast! Would definitely recommend for a long evening or a rainy Sunday!
Brother Bear (2003)
Beautiful in all ways
Gorgeous to look at, beautiful drawings and to me a very emotional movie. Also a beautiful soundtrack. They occasionally still make beautiful Disney movies story-wise but they'll never capture a nature scenery like this anymore.
In my opinion a beautiful story as well where human and nature comes together and consequences are being displayed in a very real way.
Strongest moments in my opinion: The moment where Kenai decides to tell Koda what happened to his mom is guaranteed to make me just cry my eyes out. Then later when the brothers reunite and Kenai makes his choice, and then Koda cuddles his mom, it's a feeling so well portrayed in the film. Truly beautifully made and a personal favorite of mine forever.
Finding Michael (2023)
Tasteless and privileged
This documentary must be the most tone deaf documentary I have ever seen. A narcissistic rich guy who leaves his wife who has just birthed his 3rd child and goes off to instruct others to risk their lives on a death zone of a mountain to look for a body of someone who died 23 years ago.
There was 0 compassion or understanding for the danger of the situation and circumstances the brother died in nor any other information about the other climbers. Feels like Spencer got never told no and now is rich enough to simply pay for what he wants - completely neglecting the entire team he put in life danger up there.
The situation of then attempting to safe a different body feels like a attempt of putting some humanity into it but even this feels just empty as it's portrayed as a 'plan b'. So what, they talk to the family to pick up their loved one but only if his brother isn't found? That's just sad.
Money doesn't buy you character, this documentary is the proof of that. Hope he's a better family man when the cameras are off. Would've given it a 0/10 but 1/10 is the next best thing.
The Rental (2020)
Did anyone else wanted to know where the dog was?
Personally very much disliked the ending, would've rather seen some more story to it. Also poor Michelle.
