All Together Now (2018)
Fun piece of Saturday night telly
This was a nice piece of light Saturday night television, simple in format and fun to watch.
The panel of 100 judges was made singers of various disciplines and refreshingly hired for their technical skills (such as singing teacher from a notable music school) , ground-roots performance experience and diversity of music styles rather than their individual fame in fact for most people the only recognisable person (other than the host) was Geri "ginger spice" Haliwell .
Rob Beckett kept it pacey and funand the whole thing felt like a party
Judges like "Divina de Campo" then went on to be shows like RuPaul's drag race UK
all in all a great little show for what it was.
Lost in Translation (2003)
If it was is French you wouldn't be surprised
I guess Sofia Coppola's daddy made her watch a lot of European cinema because that's what this is in style, through and through.
If you had you fingers in your ears the entire time and I told you the film was french you'd believe me and if that's your bag, this is your film.
If it's not then it'll seem like a half-hour documentary on Tokyo slowed down to take an hour and a half.
The guy in the seat in front of me curled up on his seat and slept through the film his girlfriend however seemed to be in awe if it.
Just be aware there us no middle ground with this style of film-making you either love it or hate it.
The Hours (2002)
This film is too awful for words
This films crude attempt to win it's heroines an Oscar is the only thing of interest in this slow, dull, film.
It's one of those films you spend the entire time hoping some interesting happens then it ends.
The actors love of themselves is beyond belief and it would be more interesting to see a behind the scenes documentary on this where you could see their massive ego banging into one another's.
Words cannot describe what a waste of your time this film is I'm just glad I didn't go to see it in the cinema.
Shallow Hal (2001)
A great movie
I loved this film it picked me up, it dropped me down and came to a satisfying conclusion.
I had put off watching it for worry that the subject matter wouldn't be dealt with evenly, I was wrong
A great film.
A good lesson too, all kids should be shown this, it might just make the world a bit nicer.
Flying Saucer Rock'n'Roll (1998)
A satire on 50's Sci-Fi that hits its target
Its a great sign for a satire when you can see the film makers appreciation and knowledge of a subject. You can just imagine these filmmakers spending years of their lives in darkened rooms watching "Plan 9 from outer space", "The day the earth stood still", "This island earth" et al. and you know they know all the classic lines from them.
Acting, Story, Music, Photography all spot on, in short - Encore!!
