Retribution (2023)
Oh dear
I was going to write a review, but I can't add anything to the excellent reviews already written. And even if I did, much like the movie, it would be superficial, pointless and have a terrible ending.
I love Liam Neeson, and kept watching for him alone. I can only assume he was paid a truckload of money to be the one and only positive part of this otherwise banale rendition of Speed on downers.
Having stuck it out to the end, I now feel I want retribution for the wasted minutes of my life.
The ending! Jeez. It's like they couldn't think of one. Just Liam looking mean, moody and magnificent.
In a word - disappointed.
Blindspot (2023)
Truly appalling
This is so horrendously bad - I'm addicted to it. If this was Ross Kemp doing a documentary on bad acting, I'd give it a 10/10.
The acting is bad, the script is bad, the story could be good if it had been better produced.
For a thriller, there are few thrills and little in the way of tension or apprehension. It has literally stirred no emotion in me - apart from disbelief.
The CCTV was installed post-murder to make the estate safer. But no CCTV installed to cover the dark bin area which was the scene of the murder 🤷
If I could be bothered, I'd play cliché bingo - every sad cliché has been used. The over-acting would be considered good if this was an end of term school play, but as a prime time drama it lacks any quality.
Having said that - I will continue watching on the off chance it gets better.
Greenfingers (2000)
This made me laugh and cry
A beautifully shot and produced film. The fact that it may be overly romanticised should not be seen as a criticism. To watch a movie for the pure joy and entertainment cannot be a bad thing in light of current events. We hugely enjoyed this film and the locations alone are worth watching. I am sure the prison was shot at the yehudi Menhuin School in Surrey - beautiful.
